Horrible hold times for customer service, non-competitive rates, provide false information, so far have waited for 5 weeks for a refund on a cancelled policy. No call back from management on escalated calls. Offered no discount for reduced driving when no longer commuting to work due to COVID. Do yourself a huge favour and go elsewhere.
You cannot send an email and every time you call you to wait over 1.5 hours to speak to someone. Their prices are not competitive and every time I tried to speak to someone about getting a better rate I was given false information and then told there was nothing they can do. Even once we spoke to a manager there was still nothing they can do. Very frustrating after spending so many hours on the phone for nothing. Today I was calling to cancel my policy since I got a better rate somewhere else... It has now been over 2 hours and nobody answers me. This is beyond nuts!
Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.
In 2020, when a company doesn’t have a system that you can leave a phone number for them to call you back, instead of waiting for hours, it’s a company not worth my time and money. The shortest amount of time waiting: 1h10min, longest time waiting: 2h 47 min...AND STILL WAITING! Luckily, I got another phone so I called 2 brokers and got 2 quotes, which one of them is cheaper. So when they pick up, it will be: Thanks, cancel everything because you can’t answer your phone!
My family was caught with no insurance last year when the insurance company decided to review everyone's premiums and make it nearly impossible (completely impossible for us) to renew our insurance in time. TD Insurance literally SAVED THE DAY and quickly and easily got us affordable insurance for 3 vehicles within a matter of minutes. However, I did not receive renewed paperwork for the upcoming year and just realized my insurance expires in 2 days. With other insurance companies, the pink slips were automatically renewed and resent to me every year. No big deal, except I, have tried to contact TD insurance 3 separate times today, for a total of about 3 hours thus far. I'm actually not sure that anyone is there. Wish they would initiate the call-back feature. I guess I'm thankful I don't have a job right now because if I did, I would have to go with an insurance company that I could reach.
I'm not sure what COVID 19 has to do with their very lengthy phone queue. If anything, there should be fewer accidents therefore fewer claims to process, fewer new vehicles purchased (therefore fewer new policy sales) but perhaps more people with time on their hands to spend all day on the phone with TD? I've not had an accident since 1998 (not even a traffic ticket), so finally I got sick and tired of spending $2,600 a year and went with another company. Was able to combine house insurance with auto insurance, add another driver and it was still a thousand dollars cheaper. If you have TD Insurance, find a cheaper and better alternative, then take a day off work and call TD to cancel.
Over two hours on hold with them prior to COVID. Since then I had to call them twice to cancel my insurance with them I've spent 7 hours on hold with them in the last week just trying to get my last month's payment out of them. By the way, even if the customer service representative won't cancel your insurance for you when you call they won't give you your last month/deposit back they charge you the exact amount of money to cancel. When you buy your insurance with them they say you going to pay the first and last month's insurance payment but that's not the truth. They actually charged me $260 upfront and my insurance was quoted at $117. I was supposed to get half of that back but they just do what insurance companies are good at the lie and lie some more to take your money and when you have a claim they will do everything in there power not to pay you. Also, they didn't even call me to spike my insurance premium they just took money out of my bank account without my permission!!! Also, they will not communicate with you via email so you have to spend a ton of time on the phone just waiting to talk to a person that really only seems to be interested in taking your money! Because of my experience with this company, I will never even consider using TD bank for anything not even for a mortgage. They have lost a customer for life. There are cheaper better rates out there too. With better companies. I save $40 a month by switching with the same coverage!
I had another insurance for 6 years, but a year ago I got a good rate on Auto Insurance from TD Bank. So I signed up for both home and auto insurance with them. Being a single person and driver with 19+ driving history and no claims or tickets in 19 years, and with 887/900 credit score, I consider myself a good customer. To my dismay, I received renewal documents from TD insurance a week (!) before the renewal date and with a $500/year increase in premium. How would you call this insurance? I call it scam artists. Needless to say, I switched back to the previous insurance and do NOT recommend anyone to use TD Insurance neither for home nor for auto. They'll lure you in just to hit you with a 25% increase the following year. Shame on you TD!
I had some issues because a former representative wasn't honest to me about suspending my insurance, I didn't save any money. I called back and was frustrated the representative was no help. But, I talked to another representative and she found discounts, my insurance used to be 430.00 monthly, she brought it down to 260.00. She also reduced my sister's. I am very happy with the service! This is the reason I decided not to leave TD.
I got my policy in Feb and told them I am going to start my college in May, so they told me, for now, it will 290$ per month and once my college starts I need to give a call they will reduce to 222$ per month but they reduced only 6$ per month according to which is now $284 saying they can't reduce now it can be only done while getting the policy. And if I want to change to another company who is giving me less quote they will charge me around $280 penalty. Pathetic. Not at all professional.
I moved to Alberta from another province and despite my having proof of insurance previously they charged me almost 3x what I should have been paying because I didn't have an "insurance history" in Alberta. Every time I've tried to contact them it has had to be by phone (I went into an office and was told that they couldn't help and had to call) and each time I've been on hold for no less than an hour. This most recent time was an hour and forty-five minutes and when I finally got through the call taker almost immediately hung up on me. Save yourself the trouble and avoid TD all together
