TD Insurance

You call and hold four hours and hours. They do not care to give you a callback solution to avoid hanging on. I am disillusioned by this company and how it manages its customer communications. Totally incompetent in my view.
Unprofessional service provided on many different levels including management! Incompetent staff who lack the knowledge to provide adequate reasoning for increasing premiums every year for the past 10 years! The company's culture is to train staff to not provide any customer service and to be extremely unprofessional and condescending! Next to impossible to get a hold of someone in the call center unless you are willing to be on the phone for hours listening to their hideous music while on hold! God forbid if you make a claim with them as they will make the process nothing but unbearable, complicated and inconvenient. Stay away from this poorly managed organization at all costs!
As a policyholder for a year, I've had nonstop issues with them. Insanely long wait-times aside, I've experienced countless billing issues on their end that I've always had to call in and correct (ie. double billing me 2 months in a row), representatives in their call center who exert almost zero effort to help actually solve the problem at hand, and worse - they make countless mistakes and do not take accountability for any of them. They are supposed to keep notes on your account. The most recent example of their sloppiness is when I called in to point out a billing error that they thankfully fixed during the call. At the end of the call, I inquired about when my policy was renewing, to which the representative replied 'end of the month'. I called in a few days later to cancel my policy after finding out that I have been grossly overpaying after CAA gave me a quote, and the woman on the line states that my policy 'just renewed the previous day' and as a result, I would now be responsible for a $600 cancellation fee. Because the other TD representative was so lazy as to verify my renewal date (and was so lazy that he didn't even make any notes on my account during my call with him). I am now stuck with this awful company for another whole year. I'm almost tempted to pay up the $600 just to be free from their awful service. Word to the wise: save yourself constant headaches + overpayment and avoid TD auto insurance like the plague.
TD Insurance is a mere shell of their former excellence. Customer service is now terrible, phone calls go unanswered. My auto rates just increased by 20% for no reason. Three representatives gave me 3 different reasons for the increase. Obviously, just poor management or profit bumping. We have perfect driving records and claim-free. We’re switching to a better-managed carrier. Unfortunately, many others will probably do the same, leaving TD insurance with even fewer clients, and their rates will keep increasing.
I’ve been on hold for more than 3 hours for 6 times. Bought a new car and house and need to switch over insurance. I was eligible for using a group rate as I am a CPA student, but they denied that I could take advantage of this offer. They asked me irrelative questions!!! It was very frustrating. I just switched to a new friendly insurance company. TD lost its customer.
Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.
TD is by far the worst insurance company. Extremely long waits over 2.5 hours if you are trying to reach out to customer service. If you are lucky enough to get connected (in case the call doesn't drop) the agents are rude and are not interested to listen to your concerns. TD make changes to your policy on their own and jack up your premium and start withdrawing money from your account without even informing you. Stay away from TD at all costs.
By the time I’d had enough of this company and decided to cancel my insurance it then took 12 hours of my time sitting on hold and waiting on chats to have the cancellation completed. I spoke with three people over the course of three weeks and finally had to “pitch a fit” to get it cancelled. Now it’s been 5 weeks waiting on a refund check. So today two hours waiting on chat (after another hour and a half yesterday when my computer went to sleep) to find out that they say a “minimum of 4-6 weeks to get a refund. I asked how they would feel if it took their clients 4-6 weeks to make their payments. This company has no business selling insurance. There is ZERO customer service!!!
Trying to reach them for the past 3 days while trying to activate my account. Yes, these are "unprecedented times" as per their response on social media, but not enough excuse to keep your existing customers waiting for astronomical times. At least the sales department doesn't seem to be affected by these "unprecedented times", eh? Locked in my insurance within 15 minutes. Now have waited for at least 4 hours combined on the phone. They might be good with sales but terrible at retention. Will try to get out of this policy ASAP.
Had to give 1 star because the review does not accept it if you do not put any. I know the value for money should probably be a bit higher but no, it is not a good value as the service for customer service does not exist. I actually have a theory that there is only one person answering all calls and another one doing the online one. Been trying since 08.30 and at 17.30 still did not manage to reach them. Started the day by calling their number, after over an hour I hung up thinking the call must be wrong somehow. Called back and chose the callback option. Get the call back maybe 30-45 min later and waited another 30 min with no answers.... did it again, the same thing, then tried thru the net, while simultaneously calling, 2.5 hours into the call the phone hung up. (after some 1.75 hours somehow got directed to website customer service, which could not do anything but redirect me). Then after roughly 2.75 hours on the site, I had to take care of my daughter because my waiting number just went magically from 2-3 instead of going down so of course in the 5 min someone on the site appears but I am not in front of the computer as like I said I took 5 min to make sure she was alright. So in that less than 5 min, the representative closed my window and because it is past the closing time I can not go back. Oh did I mentioned the website kicks me out before that 2.5 hours because it bugged and totally shut my customer service chat window... So yeah, I am now back on the phone since they are open until 2000, 30 min in, hope the wait won't be so bad this time since I wasted literally a day on this. All this to find out if there are fees in cancelling before the end of the contract with them as there is no way I am wasting time like this again. My consolation is that I actually did not have any emergency that required counselling as I would have been totally on my own... TD, I have seen and heard of bad customer service, but you are on your own level, way up there, or down depending which way you look at it.

TD Insurance is just a huge scam, PLEASE FINISH READING MY REAL PERSONAL STORY AS A NEW CUSTOMER, IT WILL 100% HELP YOU CHOOSE TO GO WITH THEM OR NOT. The only difference between it and a black shop on the street is they are bigger and have a longer wait time for you to get fed up and bare with the scam by force. Ever since I opened an account with TD Insurance as a customer, which I joined with my wife who has existing accounts with a car and home, I have to call three times and wait for 1.5hours each time to let their supervisor apply my deserved discounts that should be applied without calling, then after getting a mere 15% discount, then my wife begin to get letters from them every single month, simply with the title 'Change on your premiums' without telling us any details whatsoever in the letters, her premium before I even joined was around $1800, then after we called it applied a discount to $1500, we thought it finally over, then out of nowhere, she got the following letter a second month in notifying her new annual premium changed to little over $2000 all the sudden without us doing anything! Or being told by anything! What their customer service tells you or? I ended up losing more than what they promised to discount for. I'm regretting so much to switch from to TD.
