Switched initially because of cheaper rates. Was a customer for 5 years. Initially paid around 175/month was going lower to 160/month until this year 2019 they bumped it to a nice 220/month! Why are loyal customers who have had 0 claims, tickets and accidents, treated in this way? I wrote them an email asking them why I am punished and that I will be looking for a new provider if there is no explanation. All I got back was an auto-reply stating my renewal policy will be cancelled on my renewal date. This shows you the disregard they take to customers. No explanation, no trying to win you back, no matching better rates. This business is a scam.
I had a car and home insurance with Belairdirect, customer service was awful and no respect for the client. When you talk to them and ask for a discount, they answer that they aren't a grocery store. They increase insurance without any reason. Please don't go for them.
Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.
Had a tough experience in getting automerit to work. Was told that it'll reduce the premium down the line, but since I couldn't get it to work, they increased previously agreed premium from $375 to $407 without any notification and when contacting customer care, I was told that some discount was taken off since I didn't use the app. Feeling cheated and helpless. Waiting to change the provider once this expires. - Poor customer service experience - Email never gets responded - Took weeks of calling customer care to get the automerit section to appear on the app. - Once it did, the app doesn't record trips properly even after turning off battery optimization (Android) and drains battery drastically. - Overall, disappointing experience to me.
I was previously insured with Belair in Ontario, paid $131 monthly full coverage, I moved to Alberta and my monthly payment was now $352. I have been with the company for 7 years, I have a perfect driving record and find it crazy expensive. Fast forward 3 months of being covered in Alberta, I moved to Manitoba so naturally, I switched my license and insurance. I now pay $128 monthly. I called Belair to cancel my insurance and they charged me a $250 cancellation fee. I moved, I did not just switch companies. I was told if I moved provinces that I would not be subject to cancellation fees but was obviously lied to. I wasn't offered a break or anything she was just like well this is what it is. So overall not impressed with the company but again, who likes insurance companies...
I have canceled my policies (house & auto) with them back in November 2016 because of their incompetent and dishonest agents. However, they kept charging me monthly until I've noticed in December 2016. I called them asking what's going on and they started to come up with all kind of stupid reasons in order to avoid giving me a strait answer. They said that they are investigating the issue, blah, blah... and I need to wait for them to finish the investigation and stuff like that (terrible customer support, btw!). They even asked me for proof showing that payments were made from my bank account to them, than they even suggested that I was lying about my banking info for some reason. At some point I just had enough and dropped the words "lawyer" (among some expletives) and in less than one hour, I got a call from Belairdirect, telling me that they have issued a refund, blah, blah. It turned out that for one year I was paying somebody else's insurance, while that 'somebody else' was paying mine. Or at least that's what they say... Anyway... it's February 2017 now and I still didn't received the refund, although they say that they sent me the cheque.
So my advice: avoid this company like the plague! It's incredible that crooks like these are allowed to operate.
Belair representatives are not fair, honest, friendly nor did they solve my claim in a timely manner. I gave all info needed within 2 days of filing my claim. It took them over 3 months to send me a letter stating I was not at fault in the accident. I then obtained insurance with different company and the file said the status of claim was still pending. I was not receiving info in timely fashion, I was getting continuous incorrect information sent to me (date of claim etc), continuous misspelling when communicating which made it very hard to get the correct spelling of thier chosen appraisers name (biased appraiser). Reps ignored my questions about my claims and complaints. The same rep that called me about information I had already sent to her days prior that she somehow couldn't find but was most definitely sent. Toddlers are better at communication then this woman. I found a complaint service called ombudsman online and went through them to solve the rest of my claim. After i hired an independent appraiser and accepted a settlement, a rep from toronto office lied to me saying she recieved one document but not the others(ownership and key). She said that because she made a mistake(forgot to say sign back of ownership) i sent everything together in one envelope 45 min prior to the call so i knew she was lying. I cancelled policy due to mistreatment.
The WORST! If I could switch out of my car insurance policy right now I would.
I was charged an $35 for being short 0.50 cents for my car insurance which I had never missed a payment (perfect record). transferred from person to person just to hear that the fee could not be waived. I was then given false recollection dates which they charged another $35 and $25. I happen to missed the recollection date because I was advised false dates provided by a belair direct rep. They did an investigation basically saying nothing of the sort was said. SO i basically missed my recollection date on purpose because I wanted to pay an extra $75. When asked to provide said transcript they could not produce it. They basically threatened me to pay the $75 stating if i don't pay I would it would go on record. They basically stated that I lied about the whole conversation. I'll never do business with them again or recommend them to any enemy. They do not care about their customers they might as well showed me the door.
NO CUSTOMER SERVICE FROM THIS COMPANY. no accommodations from them to even waive the fee which is missed only 50 cents.
Belair Direct gave us a real good quote and they told us that they had to send me out a application form by postal mail and that I would have to send it back the same way. Then we were told we would have to wait up to 17 business days once they receive the form to have the form processed. We waited all 17 days only to find out that they rejected it because they said we got our address and phone number wrong (WTH??).
Called another insurance company and got insurance the same day.
If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.
After being unable to provide both my roommate and I with tenant insurance (for the sole reason that we were roommates), I was forced to take my business to another company that could package my home and auto insurance together.
I was charged 200 dollars as a cancellation fee for administrative costs. I'm assuming this is to mitigate any money I might save by moving to another insurance company? When I asked if I could speak with someone who could explain the charge in depth, the operator informed me that no exceptions would be made and the fee was to be paid or I would be put into collections.
A really overall unpleasant experience with a company that I not only felt I could trust, but in whose hands I had been placing my livelihood in the case of an accident. Yuck.
The customer service is terrible the people are so disrespectful, I get asked if they can help me with anything else when they never answered the question, and when I told them they weren't listening. And they had to say, "is there anything else I can help you with". Yes, you could listen to me and answer my questions. Also, I called to confirm payment for 7 days straight and was told everytime that the payment went through and I wouldn't be charged any charges then a week later I get a letter in the mail saying I haven't paid and that I owe them $80 in charges. So don't believe a word they say. Don't waste your time on them at all, just so you know Belair this is literally the first review I've ever written, so you should feel special that you've annoyed me so much that I decided to type all this out to you and your further clients.
