Worst Experience Ever

I called them for auto insurance. After 10 calls , 3 voice mails and requests to speak to a manager i got nowhere. Very very poor service, everytime I called they raised the quote........the system is totally confusing where associates dont even know whether they are taking "personal insurance" (sister company) related calls or desjardin related. Wasted my 4-5 hrs. WOULD NEVER GO BACK TO THEM OR RECOMMEND THEM TO ANY FRIEND OR FAMILY

Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.

>Been with these guys for 11 years(since I was a new driver/teen). At the time they were known as Certas Direct, they were bought out by Desjardins.
>At first I was getting a great rate when they were Certas. I think I was paying 150$/mth. and it even got as low as 110$/mth. when I switched vehicles.
>When I noticed things were getting weird was when Desjardins randomly sent me an insurance/ownership holder in the mail with a letter saying 'blah blah we own certas, you are our valued customer blah blah'. Not too long after i got my very first speeding ticket, and then one more later that year. When my policy was renewed my rate went from 110$/mth to 200$/mth. While I take full responsibility for my tickets, i dont think i should be paying 90$ extra every month for two measly tickets.
>years later i acquired another ticket. it skyrocketed to 275$/mth. Now I am in full panic mode. I called them and said 'listen guys, yes i sped. i get that. but 275$/mth is ridiculous. i am on the brink of selling my car and opting to just use public trans/bike.' they said 'no no no, we will lower it to 250$ a month in 3 months time.' i agreed.
>RECENTLY i got into an accident. it was the other drivers fault but there was no witnesses and the other driver lied on his police report. Because we had 'conflicting stories' the two insurance companies decided to make this a 50/50 split. I was assigned a moron of a service rep. She doesn't care nor take into account anything i say. what she says is what she says. To her there is no other option. its desjardins(gods) word. Get this...I put my car into a shop on a thursday, my agent said she'd call me later that night to talk about it. no call. next day, no call. i call her. voicemail. weekend goes by. no call. i call her, leave new voicemail, she calls me back. tells me three things 'just waiting for the quote from the mechanic and i will call you back. tuesday comes. no call. weds. no call. thurs no call. i call in. voicemail again. call mechanic shop and say 'what the hell is going on with my car?' apparntly they took it apart on tuesday and assessed everything and been waiting for my agent to call. i get angry and call my agent. voicemail. 'yea, my car has been in the shop since thursday and you havent been keeping me up to date and the quote has been ready since tuesday and now its thursday...7 days. i have kids and no vehicle. please call me back and take care of this. she calls me 20 minutes later(wow...so if i pull teeth and act like an @$$ they call back?). 'okay, the quote is 2400$, 800$ for parts and 1600$ for labour...' i say 1600 for labour huh? hmmm...its a fender bender. im not a moron. they are taking you for a run. 'oh no sir they are approved by us. they know what they are doing'. oh okay, so you are telling me it takes 21 hours to put on a front fender, a new bumper and a light? i can get that done myself in 4 hours. 2 hours with a buddy. now she is all silent and being cold. i say 'listen, you arent helping me at all. im getting royally screwed. i want to take my 50% of the money for the repair and do it myself because this is bull. well sir 50% of 2400 is 1200...but then we have to device 1200 by 2...which is 600...so you get 600. So let me get this right. the damage costs 2400...its a 50/50 accident so that means you pay 1200...but you are doing 50% of the 50% i am entitled too? so 600 out of 2400. so basically thats 75/25%. no sir you dont understand. no no i undestand perfectly, im getting SCREWED.

listen guys, do not deal with these guys ever. horrible horrible horrible customer care. they are so desensitized to your questions and concerns. they Do NOT CARE. i have been dealing with these guys for a long time and the only thing keeping me with them is the fact that my tickets and 50/50 accident cannot get me a good quote anywhere for the next 3 years. dont ever go with desjardins no matter how good the quote looks.

DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY!!

My son recently purchased a new car. He called Desjardin and spoke with a rep over the phone. He gave all the information correctly as asked (and it was explained to him/us that the call was being recorded) to the agent. The quote was prepared for him at a cost of $3800.00 per year. He signed up and and took delivery of his new car the next day. 2 days later he received a call from an insurance investigator from Desjardin saying that he did not give all thei nformation requested and that his insurance was going to increase by $1300. He had supplied all that was asked and even asked them to review the recording. The increase was due to a speeding ticket he recevied for 10 kilometers over. It was declared at the time the quote was prepared. Funny thing is that they said that somehow the conversation was not recorded and that they have no proof that he had disclosed the ticket. He did as i was a witness. There response was, "OH well, either take it or look elsewhere." We contacted the Insurance Bureau of Canada, and as expected, they are useless. This company is a total ripoff and cannot be trusted. My son will stay with them for now until he can establish his driving history. Until then, BEWARE OF DESJARDIN. THEY ARE CROOKS.

bad experience

Desjardins never explained about 1 yr agreement, where as in my previous insurance company I was explained if I were to cancel within 6 months, I will have to pay cancellation fee. Desjardins was comparatively low in Calgary, so I changed to it. I had been with them for almost a yr in Calgary. When I moved to Ontario the policy was changed, of course insurance rate too ( 3.87 times high compared to Calgary(depending upon location))and I was never informed that the new agreement started from the day I changed to Ontario. I realized it only after calling them to cancel my policy as I am unemployed. Yes, very high fee to cancel the policy. To get new customers they are good. To adjust your account BIG NO "they cannot BACK date". Customer service ??? "please remain on line" --- LONG HOLD. at times phone gets disconnect and you have to call back again... that HOLD goes on again...

never trust desjardins

it is a cheating company , not trustable , desjardins is a company that cheats the customer. if you become their customer with every request they will charge you in a way that your cost goes too much , and then you cannot stop because there is a high cancelation charge. it is a "loss for customer , win for Desjardins" deal.

Poor Customer Service

I have been with Desjardin auto insurance for as long I can remember. Yesterday I spoke with an agent, who messed up the relationship with this company. I recently bought a new car and called Desjardin to moved my insurance over. At the start, I told the agent I was in a new address but did not mention I was to be there temporally. The agent asked me to read the address I have on file and I did. He went ahead and processed my insurance based on the address I read to him. ( this address on file was different from the one I was in at that moment). He sent an email to me with my significantly lower monthly payment. I again reminded him I moved to a know address mention for a moment. The agent decided to recalculate my insurance based on the new address, and the amount was significantly higher, about $30 higher. I told the agent that was no problems at all and that he should allow the insurance at my old address given the fact I will just be in the present address for a month. The agent said it was because I heard that the insurance amount will be higher in my present address that I decided to ask him to keep it at my permanent address. Later, he kept me on hold for about 10 minutes and wasted my time just come and tell me they will need to move my address on file to the temporary address which the amount per month to pay is higher. I told the agent all my info and address on my driver's license is still in my permanent address which is not this address I am in. He asked me to provide a least agreement that I am in the old address. I told him I did not have the least agreement in both houses. I live with my friend who is helping me out to continue with my studies. The agent started telling me how I need a least because it will be for my protection in case they want to push me out of their house. I did not think it was he call to start telling me that. The agent was very sarcastic and could not allow me to explain myself. I was very disappointed with the services I received from him. According to me, he very unprofessional and inexperienced. In the past, I have had a very good relationship with formal agents I spoke with. I am not sure where this guy was from to spoil my relationship with Desjardin in this manner. I let him know I won't stay with them anymore. He was okay with it and behaved as if nothing happened.

Bad Company

Don't touch them. 1. They lie. 2. They increase your rate every year. 3. Leaving isn't easy. They'll jack you once before you go. 4. Calling the head office 2 hours+ wait time. 5. These bad companies should go under.

If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.

So far so....bad!

I was with State Farm for a good while and never had one problem with them, always helpful friendly people who weren't afraid to be in touch if something was amiss. Then came Desjardins... I decided to stay the course and give them a chance expecting to get similar good service and my rates stayed about the same. Yes they called and said they would like to arrange a meet and greet at their office, they were even quick to get me quotes on vehicles I was shopping around for but that's where the pleasantries ended! I've always owned cheap, used vehicles and have always insured them with liability and comprehensive ALWAYS AND ONLY. After a little chat with them recently it appears one of my vehicles for some reason has collision on it and the other is missing the comprehensive... I've never changed my policies (no reason to) and I'll admit maybe I haven't read every little word on every little piece of mail I've gotten from them but considering I brought to their attention that I wouldn't have changed my policies and some kind of error must have occurred during the changeover you would think that they would take some time to investigate the matter but no. I had an answer much too brief and quick to have been taken seriously. I shopped around and found better service at a much better price (saving $500+/year) with more flexibility and options! "We dont want to lose your business" I was told, well talk is cheap and actions speak volumes to me! Not only can they not even come close to matching another reputable company with a local office to keep my business but they won't take the time to investigate a potential internal error they may have made during the changeover, I can't say I feel as if I'm being very well taken care of. Oh, how I miss State Farm!
