GREEDY COMPANY!

by BAM on Jan 22, 2020
1.5 out of 5 stars

I have no insurance claims, no traffic violations and my 9-year-old car valuation were worth 4500. Yet, this insurance company increase my policy from 210 a month to 270 a month! Find another insurance provider.

Look elsewhere for insurance

I was in a car accident 6 months ago. Their client hit my vehicle. Their client was ruled 100 percent at fault. Desjardins insurance has written off my vehicle. Here's the problem they want to settle with an amount that won't allow me to purchase the same year and model of vehicle. So basically I will need to downgrade. They get this appraisal report done on an online web-based program... they don't provide the location or contact information of where these comparable vehicles are. It's unbelievable. The appraisal is not worth the paper it's written on. No name of person no contact of this web-based appraisal. It's so Micky mouse you need to see it believe it. I have been in contact with the lady who hit me, she said her experience with them was a nightmare as well. Stay far away from this scam of an insurance company.

I had a claim and it took more than 1 month to get my money from them. I was calling them every single day and every day different stories and lies. DO NOT TRUST THEM

Rip off

I canceled my policy 3 months ago to a professional provider Just this pas Monday they decided to take 3 months premium out of my account with zero notice I might add. I’ve been bounced around to 4 different people who have been useless to address this. Just short of being called a liar I’ve given up. They can keep the money it’s worth not having to being treated like a second class citizen. Purely pathetic and unprofessional from the very beginning.

Customer service

Good afternoon! I want to share a story that happened almost two weeks ago. 10/11/2019 at about 7 p.m. I was driving to training and at the intersection when turning right, I hit the rear bumper in front of a travelling car. The speed of my car was about 3-5 km / h. We went out and inspected the injuries with the Mitsubishi driver. A scratch of about 6 cm in length was found, the paint was not peeled off. The girl said that there is no reason to apply to the insurance, that everything is fine, but just in case, she wants to take information from my insurance company. She took a photo, I took a photo of her car just in case, and we parted. After 12 days, they called me from the insurance and said that she filed a request for repair. 10/23/2019 I called the insurance and tried to find out how the process will occur. I explained that the car was not damaged, I also sent a photo of Mitsubishi on which it is even difficult to consider a scratch. The representative of the insurance company said that she can do this and the insurance will repair the car. I completely agree that it was my fault, but the car drove after this for almost two weeks and no one knows what could happen during this time. Also, I did not receive an answer on how I can protect my testimony and reputation. I was told that a person can apply for repairs within a year after an accident. So if I’m responsible and have to pay for something I didn’t do. I thought that my insurance company believes its customers and will help them in any situation, and even more so to prevent fraud and illegal actions! No one should be responsible for what he did not do and there is a law for this!

Not happy.

I’ve been with Desjardins auto insurance for almost 7 years now. In my experience, they’re quick to charge interest fees when your late on a payment which is obviously no fault of their own and totally okay. What isn’t okay is the fact that some months they decide to take your payment out 3 days early without telling you. When that happens you the customer has to contact them fight for your NSF fees back (if you have) wait for a cheque in the mail and of course, remind them not to charge you interest on a payment they took out too early. This has happened to me too many times now. If payments are coming out three days early without notice you basically stealing from your customers.

UPDATED - Stay Away!

by Braden on Oct 17, 2019

They are the parent company for The Personal... beyond terrible claims program. Involved in a collision that I was not at-fault for that left my 6-month-old truck with $16,000 damage. Yup - that's a $16,000 line item on the Carfax for my truck which is going to completely screw my resale value when the time comes. They give zero craps about their customers...

June 2022 Update
A couple of years back I was involved in a collision where I was not at fault, causing around $18,000 (final invoice - original review was based on estimate) in damage to my almost brand-new F-150. I fought and fought with the advisors about how they should be honoring their replacement coverage per the new vehicle protection that I had paid for based on how this is going to hurt my resale value in the future. Well the future is here and I am finding out that I am several thousands of dollars in the hole thanks to DGIG - another customer screwed... way to go guys...

NEVER EVER USE THIS COMPANY

by fed up on May 21, 2019

We had an accident on April 19, 2019, I can't get any answer from this company what so ever, they want us to take the rental back but they haven't even told us what our truck is worth, they are not returning any calls. We had been with State Farm for over 30 years then they sold to these people and even our agent can't get any info on our claim... We are now being sued by the cleanup company which is supposed to be paid by our insurance but that's not happening either and no one is returning any calls worst service EVER, it has been over a month and no one lets us know what is going on...

If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.

Ruining a Credit

by Ktkd95 on Jan 31, 2019

My credit is ruined! I was with this company for 5 years and last year I had 2 no fault accidents in the entire 5 years of being with them. It took 2 months to get my vehicle fixed, which was very inconvenient living out of the city. At the end of the year, I was told they are cancelling my insurance because of too many claims. Firstly, I was not at fault and secondly, now this is on my record making me look like a bad customer which has now ruined my credit line with other insurances being charged ridiculous prices!!!
