Every bad review you read is TRUE

by M Gray on Jun 30, 2023

We have never had such a bad experience with a service provider.

We have been with Intact Insurance for years! Never had a problem with them until we made a claim.

What others say is true. They completely stonewall you. They do not respond to emails. They lie to you about what and when they will act.

Once in this ugly situation, we learn from neighbours and others that they too have and continue to have terrible problems with their claims. People whose homes remain uninhabitable due to inaction by Intact.

We have investigated suing Intact but our lawyer says that will only make it worse! He says they will cease all actions until your case is concluded which could take years.

Do yourself a favour. NEVER EVER INSURE WITH INTACT‼️

Terrible customer service; so many careless mistakes

The absolute worst insurance company I have ever dealt with. Currently dealing with a basement flood claim and they have been horrendous and left my newly built house in complete shambles.

They have the worst customer service and adjuster. I have had the worst experience with this company for my claim and the most unprofessional and worst person working on my file. Please do not give your money to Intact.

Are you a condo unit tenant? Remember that neither your condominium corporations' policy nor your landlord's insurance policy protects you as a tenant (3rd part liability, contents, etc.). If you do not have your own insurance policy, get your condominium insurance quote today.

Did everything they could upto the final date, claimed too late to pay out.

Played games up to and past the claim date, including lying. I was robbed. I feel Intact did it again. I have never felt safe in my home since. I spoke to a lawyer who deals with these horrible insurance claims. He told me they lied plenty. They made a way less-than-value offer. I accepted only because of bad health, low energy, and the upfront cost to go to court would have been too much. I am sure they count on this.

Claims agents

by The unlucky customer on Sep 30, 2022

Very rude to customers that make a claim and take pride in denying claims. They are unfeeling to customers who suffer great tragedy and loss. Cold and unfeeling and love inflicting pain on the people who pay their salaries. Shame on you!

It’s been one week since my trailer fire and no one has contacted me…I’ve sent several emails and left phone messages... The worst experience of my life!

I have had a horrific experience with The Personal. I had a claim and my adjuster was very poor in explaining the process, but mostly guiding the process. I've never experienced such poor customer service. I went nearly a year without any representative providing me with a thorough update on my claim, despite phone calls and emails contacting them. My adjuster was unable to truly assist me. For example, my building had asbestos and she recommended that I take my contaminated belongings to the dump myself. In another instance, she kept calling me at the end of her workday, despite her being in the Atlantic time zone and me being in Mountain time zone so we were never able to connect as I was working and unable to consistently check my phone throughout the day. I asked her to call me in the morning instead so that we could connect better and more efficiently throughout the day. She made me feel guilty for her staying 15 minutes late due to me having a meeting at the end of my work date and being unavailable to take the call sooner despite me asking her to call earlier in the day. After the 13 months that I have been with them, I am cancelling my policy with them. In doing such, they are charging me a cancellation fee as well as increasing my last few months of payments. I do not recommend The Personal to anyone and I will be openly sharing my experience so that others do not have the same experience as me.

Beware of Intact/Spriggs

by Sick dog on Aug 21, 2019
1 out of 5 stars

Spriggs broker did not inform the customer that they couldn't get home insurance with Wawanesa and attempted to sneak in renewal with Intact Instead. Now Spriggs and Intact say Customer is on the hook for a cancellation fee - for a policy that was never authorized by the customer in the first place.

Caveat Emptor!

by I'm the victim on Jan 12, 2016

Let's start with the initial contact to start the claim. They answered the call quickly and the home robbery claim was started, so I thought. After a day I phoned back with the police report number when I was told no claim number existed. Claim process started... again. Now the claim has started and their reliable, pre-approved contractor cannot replace the door (destroyed during the robbery) for 6 weeks. Fine, I got my own contractor and had the door replaced in 2 days.
Back to the claim. I was assigned an adjuster from an outside company. She is professional and polite. We both have hit a brick wall with the claim. They just will not update either of us.I don't know where the claim is or when it will be settled.
Update to follow!!!!!

Home fire total loss, rebuild.

by Shoulda Gotta Lawyer. on Jul 26, 2013
1.5 out of 5 stars

At every corner this company has stalled for time and given us the runaround. At one point the contractor of our rebuild had to threaten to stop construction unless they received the first payment. Our adjuster has delayed working on settling/submitting the contents portion of our claim twice by going on holidays. We have been given numerous dates that we would receive reimbursement for our (so-called covered) expense receipts but they always have an excuse for delay. It has been 11 months since we lost our home and we still have no money settlement for our content and have paid out of pocket for fridge, stove, etc. And all of this stress for our 90 year old Grandmother! Think the company might be like, "if we delay long enough....." ??
