Pitiful experience

I was insured with INTACT for 12 years in a home in a high end neighbourhood. During this time we did not have a single claim. We recently decided to put the house up for sale and moved into our new home. Because the house was vacant they decided to cancel the insurance. We confirmed them the water was turned off and the house was being checked on on a weekly basis. Didn't matter to them...

Anyhow enough said. Thank you Intact for 12 years of insurance but next time I am going elsewhere. Not used of being treated like that as a good customer.

Do yourself a favor and don't use Intact. They don't care about you indeed.

Intact is not competitive

My home insurance rate with Intact went up 36% in the past year and the deductible was arbitrarily increased from $500 to $1000 with no explanation. I've been a customer for 12 years with no claims. CAA quoted me a rate that is almost 50% less for identical insurance and with the lower $500 deductible.

Terrible, Terrible, Terrible

If you have a devastating fire with them, count on No sleep, no help, low ball offers. They count on wearing u down to except anything, our historic home had little value to them they offer a minimum offer no builder will touch. We wanted to General the job and they are trying to drag that out and oh ya the housing and storage for us will be haunlted soon , putting us again in another financial lost to find a place to stay and store our belonging. If you live in Alberta count on this treatment , we tell everyone our story and our treatment. Please before you give them a cheque, think about my situation and if your family is worth it! Go elsewhere

Are you a condo unit tenant? Remember that neither your condominium corporations' policy nor your landlord's insurance policy protects you as a tenant (3rd part liability, contents, etc.). If you do not have your own insurance policy, get your condominium insurance quote today.

Bad experience

Call center takes calls quickly, but get the run-around and no one returns calls from anyone else. Intact and Belair Direct are in same office and belong to same company.

Home fire total loss, rebuild.

At every corner this company has stalled for time and given us the runaround. At one point the contractor of our rebuild had to threaten to stop construction unless they received the first payment. Our adjuster has delayed working on settling/submitting the contents portion of our claim twice by going on holidays. We have been given numerous dates that we would receive reimbursement for our (so-called covered) expense receipts but they always have an excuse for delay. It has been 11 months since we lost our home and we still have no money settlement for our content and have paid out of pocket for fridge, stove, etc. And all of this stress for our 90 year old Grandmother! Think the company might be like, "if we delay long enough....." ??

Hail damage

If you are insuring your home with Intact, beware that there is the reason why they are the cheapest insurance around. They will be as cheap when they have to pay for your repairs as well. After hail demage on our house they would only replace parts of eavesdrops that have damage on them tying them upwith old ones so colour diference is clearly visible, instead doing all around house. Also for that took them 6 months to do. Save your self a haedaches and aggravation, pay few dollars a month more and have a proper company insure you, I most certanly will after this hard learned lesson. I only give them one star on rating because there is no zero available
