Run for your Life

Please don't go with Intact. EVER for anything. We paid them 800.00 monthly and when a claim came up, they most certainly did NOT have our back. When we cancelled, they tried to claim we owe THEM money. What a hoot. Worst company on the planet. If I could give them negative stars I would. Hard to believe any truly reputable broker would use them so beware of who you deal with.

Liars

My claim has been ongoing for 4 years. The agents assigned to the claim repeatedly lied and delayed in an attempt to stall the claim. The contractors they hired to do the repairs never completed an estimate and again delayed. When we finally had someone in, they didn't complete the repairs and Intact has left us with an unfinished house and refused to pay a settlement so we could hire our own contractors.
They've literally made my life a living nightmare.

STAY AWAY!!! BIG RIP OFF!!

by Nothappyatall on Jul 15, 2016

These scammers quoted me over $1700 to insure my house, i went to another company which only charged me $850. These guys ask way too many questions and add unnecessary paper, which makes getting insurance way too complicated. STAY AWAY FROM THESE SCAMMERS!!!!

I was given false and misleading info from their broker Landing insurance in vernon bc I was over charged and have a credit they will not return and they refused to sell me insurance when I tried to recover the money they stole from me. They only care about taking your money. In my opinion their tv commercial are very misleading.

Horrible Company and Ethics

by Sandkitty on Jun 16, 2016

We were totally ripped off by this incompetent scam of a company. We were sold a home owner tenant insurance policy. Our house was damaged by a tenant but when we tried to claim they told us we had to pay a deductible fee for every individual piece/ incidence of damage making it impossible to claim. Example there were 3 holes in one wall and they wanted to apply the deductible to each one ! Total scam stay away completely from this unethical business. The adjuster was arrogant and rude and sniggered at us when we were outraged at what they did. Totally horrible company.

Avoid them, it's a total waste of time and money. Changing their version of facts any time we speak to them . No transparency at all ...worst service ever , and for a simple case .

Claim against Intact

Someone left a shop vac plugged in at a home I own which was under construction. I did not yet have possession of the home and a fire ensued, damaging the brand new everything on the all 3 floors and basement. This happened in Dec. 2015. My own insurance company paid for cleanup and new everything, but I still had to pay a deductible of almost $4000. Intact will not return these monies to me and keep stalling, stalling and stalling - and by the looks of these comments, I may not see my monies 'till December 2016! What a horrible company - I am so glad they're not my insurance company, who has been awesome throughout this whole process - Thank you State Farm.

Avoid!

by Avoid on Apr 27, 2016

Another driver backed out without looking and hit my car. Intact offered me less than half the purchase price. I'd bought the car 6 months ago. 2nd offer was keep the car, fix it yourself get $0 and they won't insure it because of the accident. Basically felt like they were trying to steal my car without the courtesy of jamming a gun in my face.

Flood of July 2013

by tigge811 on Mar 4, 2016

Living in the Toronto area my parent's basement was flooded. We contacted Intact Ins. and they opened a case right away. It took them 5 months before they offered my parents any sort of compensation. They could not get a contractor to the house to clean up the sewer backup so the basement remained flooded for about a week and when it started to dry out the mould set in. Without visiting the house the claims adjuster said there was no reason my parents could not move back into the first floor of the house. The adjuster also said they were backed up with claims so they could not have the house repaired until February 2014. What was most upsetting was the adjuster said there was no reason they could not move back into the house at the beginning of August 2013 though they could not use a fan or air conditioning system just in case there was mould in the vents. Summer time, scorching hot, parents are in their late 70s. What is wrong with Intact's adjusters. Are their clients just a number and their health doesn't matter. I asked the adjuster if he had the vents cleaned and if a test was done on the house to determine if there was mould.
After lots of complaining and contacting the ombudsman's office, the adjuster was replaced. The house was finally fixed back to liveable conditions by May 2014. My parents are no longer with Intact
