Poor Service

by Wayne Keating on Jan 7, 2018
3 out of 5 stars

Recently I had need to insure my home and a second property. Called them twice and both times a promise to get right back to me. Crazy part is they were familiar with my property as they had insured it over the last many years with the exception of 2017. Plus I have vehicle insurance with them. That was early Dec. the first time and mid Dec. the second time.

No response to date!!!!

This is the worst insurance company, Terrible customer support filled with lies and attitude. No compassion for their customers who are going through difficult times in their lives, Building collapse, you got robbed, they don't care, any excuse to not pay up even 1st claimers who have been loyal customers for years.

Fort Mac Builder Issues

by Homeless in Fort Mac on Jan 19, 2017
1 out of 5 stars

TD is currently using lower end contractors to drive down rebuild costs in Fort McMurray. Been fighting with them for 6 months to get the costs of a rebuild with a builder of my choosing. Very discouraged with the tactics they have been using to cut there own costs at my expense, I do not need to deal with the many problems that will result if I use one of their preferred builders. TD's preferred builders have nothing but past legal issues or little to no experienced.

Rubbish

by AB on Jul 28, 2016
1 out of 5 stars

Their customer service is really rubbish, poor performance, they failed to inform me that I need to call them urgently after closing the ownership of my property and now refuse to insure me. Really poor, had they told me that I had to call immediately I would have. I will never use them again and will pull everything out.

terrible customer service

I have had td home and auto insurance for 10 years with meloche monnex. I recently installed the nest home monitoring system with integrated smoke/carbon monoxide detectors and 2 way security cameras around the perimeter of my home. I called td insurance for the home security discount. I was told no they only consider traditional third party systems for the discount. I advised that was unfair. I wanted to talk to a supervisor and they said that due to it being a Saturday and they were short staffed, they do not handle calls like mine on Saturday....what the heck? I guess I am not very important as a client. I would not advise using them due to very poor customer service.

11 years 1 claim No coverage

by Go Scotia on Sep 8, 2015
1 out of 5 stars

After 11 years with TD. Meloche for home and autos and paying $5000/yr I had a wind and hail claim on my roof that was leaking and was only ten years old. The claims adjuster literally lifted his hand over his head holding his camera and took pictures. Brought the camera down and said, "ya this isn't insured" and left.

The only silver lining is Scotia is about $1000 per year less!

Never go TD, no wonder they use a Shakespeare actor, they are only pretending to offer insurance.

Terrible Customer Service

by Jenna on Jun 24, 2015
1.5 out of 5 stars

I wasn't impressed with my last 2 interactions with customer service at all. First, they do not explain all the options properly, all that I was given as an option for putting my home insurance on hold, while I am renting out the place (because I cannot rent out under my policy, it will be illegal too), is that I can't. They had never clearly mentioned the option of Tenant Insurance that is available on the market and now they claim that they did. Second, they are not helpful at all. When you start asking questions, they reply with the attitude like I am suppose to know every single little caveat of the insurance world, instead of being understanding and informative.

Poor Experience

After 8 yrs for home and auto, I had 2 claims, that were dealt with and a 3 problem that was not covered all Home related. I dealt with the one problem my self, but because I called to ask if it was covered they counted it as a claim, even though nothing was paid. I have since moved my auto insurance which they wanted to keep. but now am left looking for home insurance as they have labelled me high risk. They owe me 1 month auto insurance payment, which they took 1 month in advance, I think this company is terrible
.

Ridiculous increase 45%

by Kim FedUp on Apr 2, 2014
2 out of 5 stars

Our home insurance renewal just arrived, a 45% increase from last year. Upon further examination, I can see this is an overall increase of 240% from 2010. This after 9+ years no claims, no incidents.
TD letter states that 'there may be an increase in your home insurance premium. In order to continue to provide high-quality insurance to you at a competitive price'
How do they consider a $1485 annual premium to be competitive when our friends & neighbours are paying on average $500 - $650 for the same, or similar policies?
I can only assume that TD is counting on the majority of policy holders being either too busy, or too tired to care. I am both tired & busy, but I will make the time to shop around.
