I have consistently tried 3 or 4 times now to call TD Insurance to update my home policy as I purchased a new home. Each time it has been 30 - 40 mins waiting with that stupid hold music. I gave up each time! I don't have time to wait. It is like they only have one person there answering all the calls.
Waited 4.5 hours on hold. In 30 seconds over the phone, they tried to deny my claim. I am not a contractor and do not have the expertise to provide technical construction answers. Nonetheless, they tried to deny. Called back, next person said it was definitely a claim. Adjuster to call in 24 hours. They called in 4 days. Again, denial attempts. Still, no one set foot on my property. 2 restoration companies through said definitely a legit claim. At no time was I ever offered overland water coverage. The insurance company is part of a near $100 Billion organization and they simply do NOT care. Avoid TD Meloche Monnex at all costs. You’ll regret it if you don’t.
Canadians pay, on average, approximately $20 per month in tenants insurance. Do you rent or plan to rent a property and want to reduce insurance costs? We will help you get a cheap tenant insurance quote today.
Waited on the phone for over an hour trying to speak to someone when our furnace quit in a rental home we had insured and the house froze up. Unbelievable that any business cannot answer the phone within 5-10 minutes. Hire more people, or allow the insured to make a claim online that doesn't require filling out a long form and then sending it off to? Maybe get a call back in a week or 2? Go elsewhere this is unacceptable.
Just calling them to make a simple payment for my home insurance, something I do once a year since you can't make a one-time annual payment from their website. Seriously, what kind of a company doesn't allow you to pay bills from their website. Anyways, they advised me the wait time could be up to 15 minutes, and of course, they don't offer a call-back service. It is now up to 53 minutes, and my cellphone is almost dead. I can't wait for their representative to come online and ask me how my day is going. Maybe they'll waste a few more minutes asking me to rank their service today, meanwhile, hundreds of people are waiting on hold, while they pat themselves on the back. This used to be such an easy company to deal with, I can barely contain my disgust with what has become of them. I would highly recommend people look elsewhere before signing up with them.
I bought the house 2 years ago in 2016. I am first time home buyer and don't know much about these insurances. I went on vacation for 3 weeks for when I came back and entered my house, it was all ice because of flood due to the water pipes burst in the house (second floor under washroom). I called insurance and told the complete story and they sent the appraiser the next day but didn't arrange any other accommodation for me. I had to pay all that expense from my pocket. In the end, they put it on me that it was my mistake that I didn't hand over keys to someone to take care of the house or I should have put surveillance cameras to check the house or I should have closed the water tab and drained all the water. I didn't know these things because this was the first time I was going on vacation. So finally I got a call this Friday that they declined my insurance claim, so now I am in debt of almost $15k to $20K.
Thank you for reading my story. I would like to share my bad customer experience with TD house insurance. I bought TD insurance from Sept 2016 to 2017. In Sept 2017, I switched to Wawanesa because they offered me a better coverage. When I switched over, my Wawanesa broker put down my TD policy number on the application form, and Wawanesa sent TD a cancellation letter to end my insurance with TD. So legally, I have informed I ended my insurance policy with TD. However, in Nov, 2018, I received a call from an agent from DA Group Services saying that I need to pay a past due balance to TD insurance. Over the phone, I find it very uncomfortable because the agent asked me for my personal information before he began the conversation. Only telephone fraud would run the business in this frightening manner nowadays. After dealing with the collection agent, me and my brother gave TD Insurance a call spending more than an hour on the waiting line and finally got through. However, the agent spoke with an ignorant attitude because she never answered any of my questions. I asked if the Insurance policy is self-renewing, why TD do not inform their customers about it when they make the sale over the phone!? How can TD ignore my cancellation letter!? How can TD not give customers an email or a phone call when the customer is missing a payment!? etc...None of my questions has been answered. But she kept repeating that I had to pay. After spending 3 hours with the agent and her manager, they eventually asked me to send them the cancellation letter again, and they promised me to send me a letter confirming to cancel the charges. So I sent TD the cancellation letter, but I have no response at all. Now the Collection agent from DA Group Services keeps sending me an email on daily basis saying that I need to pay the overdue before the deadline of Jan 15, 2019. Giving me tremendous pressure! They didn't inform you what type of insurance they are selling initially, which is self-reocurring. They ignore your policy cancellation letter in order to keep taking money out of your pocket. Their customer service team never listens to you. How can TD run the business in this awful manner?
Confirmed with their agent over the phone that even the most expensive package (platinum) does not cover water damage from flooding, and the only water damage they cover is from sewer backup. I was very surprised to hear this and will not be renewing my policy.
I bought the car and home insurance as a "group insurance deal" that my PEO offered 18 years ago. During this time I never had a claim. A few months ago we had a water leak in our house that did some substantial damage to the walls and hardwood floor. After calling them many times and waiting for a long time finally (talked to 5 diff people) my claim was refused. These guys have terrible and inefficient customer service. Switch to another company, never ever do insurance with them.
Had my Home and Auto Insurance up for renewal and I called TD to let them know I needed a competitive quote. They asked me several questions and then raised my rates. No Kidding! Turns out my unused line of credit on my free and clear home is a liability. I always thought I was paying too much with TD, so I went online to get some quotes. I am now saving $1330 by leaving the overpriced TD Meloche Monnex.
I have consistently called TD Insurance. Each time it has been 40 - 60 minutes waiting with the stupid hold music and promises to answer shorty. How long you should wait for couple questions. It is like they only have one person there answering all the calls. Are they still existing? What kind of service is that?
