Avoid this company! I can't believe how unprofessional and greedy this company has been throughout. I had my condo insurance with RBC, then RBC contracted to this miserable and unorganized company, they increase condo insurance by 25% every year, so greedy people. I have found very affordable insurance with another company and have been trying to cancel my insurance with this greedy company for a month now but no one is answering the phone or returning my calls. If they keep doing this I have no choice but to sue them in court.
I have NEVER had a home insurance claim! Annually my policy continues to increase. In the past 5 years, my annual home policy has increased to $2100 from $1100 5 years ago. AGAIN- I have NOT had any claims and I am still in a modest 1000 square foot home. Every year I call my broker and get the same song and dance that insurance claims are on the rise in Alberta. The same goes for my auto insurance. I have a clean driving record and claims free for the past 10 years +. Did some research and switched to another insurance. My annual insurance bill went from $4323 to $2650 for home and auto. Also incredibly annoyed that when renewal policies are sent out you have to call and beg for the best rate, even though I have been a long-time CLAIMS-FREE customer. I had to give a star rating in order to submit my review. Would have given them 0 stars if possible!
Canadians pay, on average, approximately $20 per month in tenants insurance. Do you rent or plan to rent a property and want to reduce insurance costs? We will help you get a cheap tenant insurance quote today.
Within 4 years with this company I never filed a claim, however, the policy increased every year for no reasonable reason. The last one went almost 30% increase. So I decided to buy another policy with another insurer. Where I found the same coverage for half the money this terrible company was trying to steal from my pocket and immediately cancelled the policy with Aviva on the same day.
SURPRISE: One week later they sent me a letter pretending I pay $830 for something they call "balance outstanding for the time on risk"
What? My house never went uncovered by a policy, the day I bought the new policy I cancelled AVIVA.
Where the heck they saw the risk?
They are the risk for your wallet.
Do not recommend this company to insure a barbie house or a hot wheel car.
Customer for 14 years but never again! All started with premiums going up 10% per year. I get it all things do go up over time but beware. Once they got you locked in lookout! Over that duration clauses that were originally covered were later changed and required additional premiums or were removed from being covered. So in my experience double the premiums and half the coverage. Finally had enough and planned to let the coverage expire and not renew with them. I was sent multiple notifications (5 total) that my coverage ends on the said date. Today I received a notification that my policy with them has been terminated, which is fine, but oh and by the way you owe us $197 that is due immediately. This is for us to extend your policy another 30 days. How can an insurance company say our paid services end on the said date then realize you're not continuing service with them and then them arbitrarily extend you after the fact and then 30 days later advise you owe them now? Why didn't they advise this at the time they notified you of the termination date? If someone had a mishap 3 days after coverage expired would they extend these 30 days to them also? I think not. I'm not sure how they can have it both ways? Shady to the very end. The complaint also going to the Better Business Bureau if they're still around?
