Bullied

Bullied and treated poorly by some staff as I tried to get our claim remedied vs their threat to deny our renewal with no basis in fact. Awfully stressful experience.

Roof damage due to Hail

by jrsiever on Jan 8, 2016
1 out of 5 stars

I am having the same issue with hail damage on my roof from Aug 2014. The claim adjuster has refused to replace the entire roof and is stating that only the portion of the roof that was damaged from the hail will be covered. I have had 5 different roofing companies tell me that the shingles are not made any more and are impossible to match. And the funny thing is, is that the part they want to replace has less damage then the portion of roof that is in worse condition. Same with my eaves trough. The lines will not match and the colour will be different. Just ridiculous. All 5 roofing companies have never heard of only replacing 1/2 a roof if the product is discontinued. I'm at the point now where I am going to have to talk to a manager and after that my lawyer. Desjardin Insurance definitely does not care about the customer.

Roof damage due to hailstorm

by Frustrating..... on May 19, 2015
1 out of 5 stars

The roof of my residence was damaged partially due to a hailstorm in August 2014. When I sent in a claim, at first, the claim was rejected saying that the damage was not due to hail. I requested for a second inspection when the claim was approved, although not for a full replacement of the roof. How can someone replace only a portion of the roof? Isn't this ridiculous? I tried following up only with cold responses.

I wouldn't recommend anyone to go with this insurance company

Damage never repaired

by Sarah Klassen on Nov 22, 2021
1.3 out of 5 stars

Home siding/roof damage September 2021. Now November 2021, no word on when we are getting it repaired yet. Very disappointed on how long it's been dragged out.
The customer service folks are polite, but the insurance its self represents a scam to me so far.

I didn't research them first

Thought being a large company, they'd be professional. I'm completely embarassed to have fallen for the salespersons' lies. Desjardins are really REALLY nice to you when you call for quotes. Then they know how to get the pre-authorization signed. Then that's it folks. They don't know how to do anything else. I couldn't even get a policy for a year. They kept saying "well if you want to know something, we can tell you". Refusing to give a policy then when we had an issue to discuss, even got yelled at by John A., who refused to let me speak to anyone.
I even tried writing the customer care section and no response. You pay, they take, and that's it. No other relationship will ever occur with Desjardins.

Desjardins Roofs Unacceptable!

by Jay M. on Jun 4, 2015
1 out of 5 stars

Unacceptable. You have a replacement cost policy. Unless it is a newer roof and can be matched, most companies replace the entire roof. On older roofs that are still good there are matching, color and toning issues. No one does this anymore. It is the cheap way out. You should have received a new roof. I recommend you call your lawyer if it cannot be matched. You should have been given a replacement roof under your replacement cost policy. Once again, Desjardins cutting corners. I wouldn't buy their product..

Perfect insurance if you want to become homeless

by Guillaume Tanguay on Feb 17, 2024
1 out of 5 stars

Perfect insurance if you want to become homeless. They lie and do everything in their power to make sure they will never pay you. Making sure you go in circle with paperwork. Telling you they called you when they did not, telling you they sent you papers to fill, they did not.. told me they got the paperwork and everything should be fine now, to end up talking to someone who told me they never got the paperwork even if the employee 3 month ago confirmed it to me that they received it. Its just a big mess of liars trying to save money by putting good citizen on the street. They deserve jail time.

Insurance company

by SS on Nov 23, 2023

This is the worst company ever. I had an issue with one of my insurance which was brought up in April. They have been going back and forth with no help. They finally send an employee in November but they still didn't come up with a solution. It has been 8 months and there is no progress with my insurance claim. They don't take the initiate to help their clients at all. This is the wort insurance company ever in Quebec.

Rip off

Do not pay legitimate claims. These were substantiated by invoices. Treat claims as suspicious. Run.
Forty years and no claims, now I am being held suspect.
