Allstate, untrustfull.

Recently I changed from another insurance provider to Allstate, where they were supposed to offer me a better premium for my auto and home insurance. After discussing with the agent the best options to match and improve what I had with my previous insurance company, we came up to an agreement and I signed a contract for one year. The monthly premium for the auto was $232 and for the home $51. At the time of contract signature, I had to pay first and last month, both for home and auto. After the first month, the automatic debit came up with $253 and $53. When I contacted the customer service rep to find out why the difference, he just told me that the underwriter changed the policy and that there is nothing he can do about it. I also asked about the difference in the home premium and just mentioned that there is a 4% fee for setting up the policy. It is not the difference of $2 in the monthly premium what makes me upset, but the lack of transparency not disclosing hidden fees. I don't like surprises. Now with these increases, I am paying more than I was paying with the previous insurance company. I am very disappointed with this company as they do not honour the agreed contract, but also do not disclose hidden fees. I would not recommend Allstate to anyone and will move away from them forever as soon as I can, without having to pay a penalty. If they trick and lie to you at the time of signing you as a new customer, I don't want to imagine what it will take to make a claim. If you can, look at other options in the market before signing up with Allstate.

Unprofessional

My father, whom I’m a guarantor for, has been driving for 35 years. He has never had a car accident before. This year was his first not at fault accident. Tom C., a person who works at the collision department, offered my father an unreasonable Offer for his vehicle that was involved in the collision. My father refused the offer, but Tom C. still mailed the check. I have been calling him and leaving him messages several times, but Tom C. never returns my phone calls. I left a message to his supervisor and I also didn’t get any response back. Very professional. If anyone has Insurance or is thinking to get insurance with Allstate, I advise you not to. Allstate is there to take your money, when it’s time to pay up, they’re not very good at that.

Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.

Unhappy Victim

My mother, of whom I am the caregiver, was a passenger in a vehicle during a collision. The driver at fault has Allstate Insurance. Allstate refused to pay her medical bills or injuries due to the driver not having business insurance. What is my 72-year-old Mom supposed to do? The driver was transporting her to a center for the disabled when he collided with an 18 wheeler. The Adjuster for Allstate suggested that we use my insurance with Geico to pay the expenses. Really?? My mom is not on my policy, she can’t drive.

Unfair business practices

by Simona Besnea, M. Eng, P.Eng, PMP on Feb 6, 2018

We had a very disappointing experience with Allstate. It is the first time that an insurance company asked us for a 1-month premium upfront (deposit) only to allow pre-authorized monthly payments. Monthly payments are common practice and should not be perceived as a "privilege". In addition, Allstate should be very clear and transparent that the amount is not refundable if the policy is cancelled in the first few months. Given the termination on short basis, the premium also goes up significantly. The collection of money upfront, it is not only unjustified but also unethical, given that the money is very likely invested by Allstate and earning interest that the customers will never see. I would call that a predatory practice.

If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.

Opened an insurance policy with Esurance and got an email 2 days later saying that they noticed I had moved out of state and would need to update the information on my policy. I had not moved anywhere, what happened is that my policy was opened in California rather than Oregon. I have never lived in California. I applied for this insurance policy with an OR drivers license, a truck registered in OR, financed through an OR credit union and a home address located in OR. After speaking to them about this problem they quoted me literally twice as much as the policy I originally signed up for. I went to cancel my policy and they tried to charge me a cancellation fee which I managed to get waived but was then billed for the 4 days I spent driving my truck around on and INVALID insurance policy. I spoke to a supervisor after cancelling who was completely unapologetic and didn't seem at all surprised that this had happened. At the end of the conversation, he blamed Google for the mishap... Poor customer service would be an understatement. This is not a trustworthy insurance company.

Allstate is Garbage

Horrible experience. Won't be coming back. Got in an accident on September and am barely getting my truck back and it's December and I wasn't at fault. Allstate won't back you up for anything. They just expect their payment every month while you're not even getting your rental, and basically struggling with transportation. Basically, going broke driving around my pops v8 when my car is in the shop being repaired with no rental to get me back and forth. Most inconsiderate and incompetent insurance. Put it this way, I wasn't at fault and the police report also says that I'm not, and because the person at fault doesn't want to accept responsibility for 3 MONTHS NOW the repair shop expects me to pay $542 to get my truck back. The insurance company at fault that has sapped me of my college year is pretty much Winning and I was the one rear-ended. I'm missing classes, and my scores are dropping. This company called Allstate is selfish and expects their 300 by the end of their month, but when you really need them it feels like they're hiding behind their desk. If you want to be outclassed by a low budget insurance when you get in an accident, then Allstate is for you.

Not in good hand!

I had a small accident last month with another car backed up on my car from a roadside parking lot while I was driving with full right of way causing a fender bender. The agent worked impressively hard trying everything to save Allstate cost: 1. Took a keyword "slowly backup" from the statement as evidence that I should have enough time and responsibility to avoid the accident; 2. Called the body shop asking for cheap repair instead of asking for professional repair. 3. Pushed 20% responsibility my way only based on the other party's statement regardless the facts I provided to prove it is 100% fault of the other party. I have learned two lessons from experience with Allstate: 1. Stay away from Allstate as their primary motivation is to save cost for Allstate; 2. Stay away from the cars insured by Allstate, because you will always have to have responsibility regardless of what kind of accident it is.

Lied about my car repair

by Eduardo garcia on Nov 29, 2017
1 out of 5 stars

On September 3rd our car was in a car accident, Allstate wanted us to use their own body shop (certified collision) they brainwashed us (our mistake) to use their body shop because they said it was going to have lifetime warranty and be faster, so after they gave us an estimate and promised our car would be ready in 4 weeks...4 weeks later they told us that it wasn’t ready yet, by that time our car rental period was over, so we had to find another car to drive while my car was getting fixed, then after another week they kept saying it wasn’t ready, then we spoke to the shop manager of the body shop and he said the guy that was working on the car “dropped the ball” on our vehicle and they needed to have someone else start to work on it and finish it, and the shop manager stated he needed another 4 weeks to finish the project because it was just too big! So weeks passed and almost 3 months later, also AllState giving us excuses and not answering our questions (Tonna M our insurance agent being rude and making unnecessary comments and non-professional comments like how that happened to her when she was young and she got over it etc etc instead of helping us out (she also stated that she would never take her car to that shop, so how did she expect us to be safe and happy with this car?), then finally they gave me my car back on November 15, almost 3 months after! Can’t believe how nice they are while collecting the monthly payment but once you get into an accident where it wasn’t even your fault, they don’t help you at all and don’t care about you as a customer. The original estimate to repair was $12,000, so Allstate didn’t want to pay me full price for my car because they said that still was repairable because it had no frame Damage and because it wasn’t more than 80% of the value of my car which for my car I paid around $16,000 just around 2 months before the accident. So when I received my car back, the body shop manager showed me and gave me copies of how much they spent to repair my car and the total is $17,100, that’s more of what I paid for my car! But this is not it, after I picked up my car I went to CarMax to get an appraisal to see how much is worth now if I want to trade it in, because my family and I don’t feel safe In the car anymore, and at CarMax our appraisal offer is for only $10,000 ! They explained in a very detailed manner that our car has obvious frame damage on multiple sections of the car frame and they don’t even buy those cars with frame damage to resell, they could buy my car for $10,000 and they would have to send it to an auction right away, they were so amazed to know how an auto insurance lied to us about the car not having frame damage and being repairable for more money of what the car cost, CarMax people told us it is not safe at all to be driving the car with my 1-year-old baby in it. Please be aware of ALLSTATE and the way they handle their business. Also, we got a few calls from Our agent manager named Brandon P and he was being rude saying that they couldn’t do anything and that we had to keep the car and offering a $250 check after everything that they put us through like that was going to make me feel safer in this car. I hope nobody else goes thru this, better spend more money for a better insurance like AAA than deal with these liars and their sketchy and non-responsable shops, I will never recommend Allstate to anyone anymore and I’ll never go back!
