I have never experienced such terrible customer service before until now I still can’t believe it. I had my daughter on my policy as a second driver until she decided to get her own car, we called Allstate a whole week before she was due to pick up her car, and they told her someone will call her, two days passed before she got a call, and even then again, she was told someone else from another department will have to call her back. Come the day to pick up her car, no one called her, so she called, and after being on hold for over 30m, she was told they’ll get an agent to call her back. She ended up calling another insurance who dealt with the coverage right away, so she could go pick up her new car. I still can’t understand why there were so many loops to jump through. Anyway, it was their loss.
I have been trying for 2 days to reach Allstate. I have tried online enquiry, through my log-in account and by phone. Very frustrating
Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.
I wrote this review while on hold waiting for a customer representative to pick up my call - I'm at 1 hour 40 minutes wait time now trying to add a new car to my insurance policy the message is "we are experiencing longer wait times than usual"...
Learn from my mistake - AVOID Allstate! In September 2019, I decided to research for an auto insurance provider offering a better rate. After speaking with 6 different providers, I settled with Allstate. However, DO NOT be fooled by their marketing. I got hit by a Dodge Caravan, on June 12th, 2020 after performing a left turn. The driver was driving way past a 30km limit, in a construction zone. Had he respected his speed limit, AND kept his right lane, this accident could have been avoided (I am convinced he passed a red light). My rear driver door was completely smashed in, but all he got was minor bumper damage on his right side. Yet, Allstate, declared me 100% responsible. In my 20+ years of driving, with only no-fault accidents, and having worked as a driving instructor, I am appalled. The driver who hit me was not only responsible but he was rude and he omitted important information on the Joint Accident Report. It's ridiculous that an insurance company won't consider the action of this reckless driver, especially considering a lack of character by not fully completing a document. To make matters worse, my long-term garage was not part of their Authorized Dealers. I found this extremely odd as every other insurance company ALWAYS referred me to them. Due to this, I received a cheque in the mail (minus my deductible) prior to even getting my car back!!! Who mails out a cheque when the work has not been completed? A savings of $5/mth has resulted in unnecessary stress and time working on contesting an accident that was clearly not my fault. Now I am out-of-pocket of a $500 deductible and a premium increase. All the while, Mr. White Dodge, continues to drive recklessly since he omitted his insurance company name and driver's licence on the report. Note to self: if your instinct tells you something is wrong, call the cops! FYI: I will be contesting this Allstate decision.
I have zero tickets, no accident in the last 10 years. Nothing has changed since last year, yet my premium went up by $9 despite the additional discount from driving. They gave me a poor explanation. I haven’t seen such an increase in 7 years which makes me wonder if I am paying $100 more in 2020 for the $30 one-time COVID-19 payment I received. Maybe they took the extra $60 to cover up payment for others with much higher premiums since the 25% of a month’s premium was decided by the ministry. COVID-19 money was taken from us, Allstate never takes a loss.
If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.
I have a very unpleasant experience with Allstate & their claims service. There was an incident with my car and another in a private lot back in 2017. The damages were minimal so we didn't file a claim and paid for the damages ourselves but we did file collision report. 2 years later, we came to renew our insurance for 2020 and then that's when we came to know that was a claim that was closed from this incident and it was deemed I was at-fault when that wasn't the case. When I called them, they said they sent 2 letters and they called but we didn't receive anything. They wouldn't open the case either since the dispute period of 1 year has ended. This was very frustrating as we would have disputed it if we knew of such a claim. Fortunately, I had first-time at-fault forgiveness which protected our premiums from this claim however, I didn't need to use it if we had disputed it. Allstate's actions from this incident were completely unacceptable and they should have made more of an effort to contact us when this claim was made.
I call today to make some changes to my Car Insurance. First, the representative said that they cannot find my policy, then once they find it. I ask to make the changes, the representative said the system does not allow to make the changes I requested. She put me on hold after she comes back she said she made the changes as requested. Since my mileage went down if was expecting a little break, I ask her for my monthly payments but she did not give me the straight answer after asking her many times she gave me the monthly breakdown. After I hang up the phone I realize that the payment remains the same. So, I call back and spoke to another lady, she told me that we need a written letter to make the changes when I ask her why the previous representative lies to me and did not ask me for a written request she had no answer. Never had this kind of experience with Allstate.
1) I was given an Adjuster name and they were to contact me within 48hrs. I was not contacted and so, therefore, I had to contact them. 2) I have a rental through insurance. Estimated time for my vehicle to be fixed was on Feb.15/19 and I had to return rental then. Miscommunication error between Allstate and dealership and my vehicle will not be ready on Feb.15/19. I informed Allstate Feb.13/19 about this and that I will not return my rental. I was not advised about any out of pocket charges to me if I don't return the rental. Why should I be charged? Why should I return my rental when my vehicle has not been fixed yet?
I had a weird experience with customer service always trying to bully me on extras and endless questions. Unlike companies like Belair, their customer service desk works on commission, so they're keen to sell even if it's not the right product for you. This is an American company selling into Canada, but I found it not professional at all and I spoke to 3 of their helpdesk guys trying to find answers. I'm glad I didn't bite, as I imagine the pain of processing a claim with this helpdesk. It's a challenge finding a good insurance company. Companies like Aviva offer better prices, but their helpdesk is in India, most don't understand English, they work from a script. So I went with Belair and left Allstate in the dust!
Please note they don't refund the deductible if you had an accident with a person. Why because they can not claim against the third person so your money would not be refunded. Very unfair! It is not acceptable.
Very very unfair. And the supporting thing is that it is not in your agreement.
