Ridiculously overpriced

by Amanda on Sep 30, 2022
1 out of 5 stars

I initially went with Allstate for car and content insurance. My rate was good. I had an older car with zero safety features. I moved to another city and my rate went from 95/month to 160/month. Which was ridiculous. My car then completely died. It took me two weeks to find a new vehicle. I finally found a brand new car with ALL the safety features. An excessive amount of safety features is brand new with 40km on it and my insurance went up to 250/month. How is this okay? I get a brand-new car with all the safety features and winter tires and you jack the price up. It's ridiculous. I've switched. Never ever again. You're a rip-off.

Poor Service on Accident Claim

by Ben on Jan 4, 2021
1 out of 5 stars

I car T-boned in an intersection by someone who ran a red light. I had two witnesses I've never met at the intersection who both saw what happened and corroborated my account. My claims holder at Allstate sent me one email and a letter in my mail hiking my premiums up by 58%. I've tried to get a hold of her with 10 emails and 5 phone calls over the course of 2 weeks. She responded to one email. Neither of my witnesses have been contacted. The incident has not been looked into so far as I can tell, though it's hard to tell anything because the agent won't return a simple email. I will never use Allstate again.

Sudden Increase without reason

by popomo123323 on Oct 21, 2020
1 out of 5 stars

I've been paying 160$ a month for my car then, after a year they want me to pay 280$! I asked them what's the reason that they increased my monthly fee and they didn't even say it. I don't have any record of accidents or whatsoever. I cancelled my insurance.

Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.

NOT IN A GOOD HANDS

15 years l was paying with no claims, I didn't ask them for one dollar, but they have no respect, they respect your dollar only, now with COVID they sent me a few dollars for not using the cars, but when the renew came, they increased the rate up to $120.00 a month. Don't waste your money, find a better trusted company.

Will not respond to calls

by Nana on Sep 25, 2020
1.5 out of 5 stars

Someone smashed my car from behind at an intersection and called Allstate. It took a long time but finally got hold of staff and waited for their tow truck to tow the car away. The care was eventually written off and we settled for far less than what the car was worth but needed a car asap. I bought a new car and asked for an estimate which they supplied after given them the vin# and all the necessary info. After picking up the new car, the price jumped up more than 40% than what was quoted. I've been calling them the past one week and they kept tossing me around and sometime won't even pick up my calls. I am so disappointed with them and looking at my options. I guess I will wait till I get to the bottom of this but so frustrating.

COVID-19 money

by Sumaiya on May 23, 2020
2 out of 5 stars

I have zero tickets, no accident in the last 10 years. Nothing has changed since last year, yet my premium went up by $9 despite the additional discount from driving. They gave me a poor explanation. I haven’t seen such an increase in 7 years which makes me wonder if I am paying $100 more in 2020 for the $30 one-time COVID-19 payment I received. Maybe they took the extra $60 to cover up payment for others with much higher premiums since the 25% of a month’s premium was decided by the ministry. COVID-19 money was taken from us, Allstate never takes a loss.
