changing postal codes

by pj on Oct 19, 2015
1 out of 5 stars

I moved to a new postal code and my car insurance doubled, which is obscene. They claim i moved to a higher accident area. One should pay on their driving record and not where they live.
If you live in a certain high area you will pay that additional premium for life. it will NEVER change. It is just a ripoff to pick your pocket.

Parking Lot Incident

by LeighW on Dec 4, 2014
1.5 out of 5 stars

My wife, 2 kids and I just parked in a parking spot at a Canadian Tire with my truck. I was the first to open the door (which I was in the passenger side) to get out. When I opened the door, I was starting to get out when someone who was trying to take a short cut through the parking spaces hit my door, which thank god basically saved my life. Driver was trying to drive through. Ok so we no in no way was hugging parking spot next to me so he was way too close and driving way too fast. This was on a weekend so I call 24hour number and talk to a lady on the phone and give all the details and she ensures me that I was not at fault. Fast forward a few days later and I talk to another lady who informs me that I was at fault! Seriously? I'm in my parking spot stopped and getting out, someone hits my door and it's my fault!
I said what happens if he had actually hit me? Well that's different I guess then it would be his fault. Hello the door is what saved me from that happening. Needless to say I'll be appealing their decision. Guess I'll have to start being like the Dukes of Hazards and climb in and out of the window.

Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.

Very Poor Customer Service.

I had an accident 2 weeks ago. No one reached out to me for the first 6 days. After they reached me, estimates and appraiser is missing. Car is lying at workshop where no one cares, in spite of multiple calls and reminders. No response yet. This is the worst customer experience you can imagine.

Worse customer service

Worse customer service. The adjusters are not picking up their phone and not even calling back for any updates. You need to invest blood and sweat to contact them.

Extremely Unprofessional and Frustrating Experience

by suresh Heralall on Dec 10, 2024
1 out of 5 stars

Three months ago, I was rear-ended at a yield sign in Mississauga. When I took my vehicle in for repairs, the insurance company insisted that I pay the deductible, despite the accident not being my fault. Then, they only agreed to pay half of the repair costs as quoted by the body shop. To make matters worse, I had a car seat and stroller in the vehicle at the time of the accident, and I’m still waiting for a replacement three months later.

My adjuster has been incredibly unprofessional and unreliable. For months, I've been asked the same questions repeatedly, and it takes her two weeks to respond to emails, if at all. I’ve had to call multiple times just to get basic updates. However, when it comes to collecting my monthly payments, they are always on time.

This company does not even deserve one star. Extremely disappointed with the lack of customer service.

TERRIBLE Customer Telephone Service

by Dave on Nov 12, 2024
1 out of 5 stars

Tried to reach nine (9) different numbers at both local agency and main service office. Waited between 7-12 minutes on EACH call, listening to the same message about how important my call was to them. Gave up in disgust. Cant understand how they can stay in business with such TERRIBLE customer service. DISGUSTING insult to customers.

Stay away

Horrible experience. Once they have your money, that’s it, you can’t get anyone on the phone or email. Do not go with them. Also wasn’t offered accident forgiveness like with other companies, and my insurance went up seventy percent over a parking lot accident with no investigation done at all.

If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.

Never the same answer

In just over a month, I have talked to 4 different agents who told me 4 different prices for the three vehicles that I own and share with my children. It’s absolutely outrageous that this can be happening. Not only are they telling me different prices, but they are also not honoring what they say. I’ve had no paperwork in over a month, the app info is always wrong and after having added a third car, they have just withdrawn $1405 for one month. My 18-year-old son is paying $4265, my daughter is paying $2800, and I am paying $2028. It’s robbery and I want out. It’s a total of $9100/year. It’s like having a second mortgage to drive. I can wait to find a new insurance company who knows what they’re doing.
