Not up front

I bought car insurance with Intact Insurance. I had to pay upfront and did not offer a payment schedule. Then after renewing for the second year, they wanted to charge me an extra 100$ for not downloading an app. I feel so demeaned. I argued several times but they just kept sending me bills. Never get insurance with them ever again!

Terrible and dissapointing

by Zolich on Dec 23, 2019

The worst and unprofessional insurance. Not helpful at all. Not only they charge huge money but also never help and care about customers. Had to call them 4 times to solve my issue where I was charged $659 extra but never helped me at the end they connected to irrelevant departments where they said you called wrong department and I had to repeat to calls. Finally gave up calling and wasting time. Please never recommended there are thousands of insurances with excellent customer service and care. Never consider this one!

Expensive+ "Cancellation Fee"!

by Uber1 on Sep 25, 2019
1 out of 5 stars

Outrageous abuse. This Intact Insurance for Uber drivers is extremely expensive. If at any point you decide to cancel, they will even charge you a "Cancellation Fee"!!! Also, be aware that Intact share your personal information with the Police, in case you miss a monthly payment. Extremely abusive monopoly and invasion of privacy. They need to be sued collectively to reimburse for so many abuses!

Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.

all they want is money

On June 13 my Toyota van was rear-ended while I was stopped at a red light. My Intact experience began with their representative over valuing my vehicle by sending me ads from out of town dealers showing asking prices when I sent sale prices to him from my local Toyota dealer he refused to budge on the decision to deem it a right off. The body shop that I was sent to had my van for 74 days when they called and said it was finished. Upon inspection I noticed several defects and refused to take it back, a few days later the shop called again, upon the second inspection I noticed there was a small dent in the rear door which had been replaced. I demanded they replace the door with a defect-free one, the insurance company refused with their adjuster actually saying "if we fixed cars the way our customers wanted we couldn't keep the cost down" and "sometimes we use dented parts" also a dent that occurred during the accident was fixed with body filler against my request for a proper repair. The third inspection, bumper skin was not fastened around the wheel wells and underneath and a 1/2" misalignment of the rear door was noticed midway up the driver side rear panel. I believe the body was knocked out of alignment in the collision. The adjuster said they could fix it by replacing one of the rear hinges. The hinge is not damaged. Nobody from Intact wanted to listen to my opinion or hear my complaints. Now they are saying they will just carry on with the repairs and if I am unhappy in the end I will have to get an appraisal from someone else and will have to sue Intact. 1 1/2 years ago the MOT in Ontario charged me tax on a vehicle valued at $18000, so far the Intact has spent $14300 on repairs with more to come, my rental car so far has cost Intact over $6000. Over $20000 spent so far with no regard for customer satisfaction. I don't know how this company is still in business. They hurt me far worse than the guy who hit me.

Dreadful Insurance Company

by Kris on Aug 14, 2019
1 out of 5 stars

I was in an accident at the end of 2018. I got rear-ended by someone, it was 100% their fault. My policy was set to renew at the end of July and they decided to increase my premium an extra $1,000 because of an accident that was not my fault. On top of that when I was dealing with them during the claim because of the accident the customer service was terrible. It would take SEVERAL attempts and emails to get some sort of return communication. The employees were terribly rude and unhelpful. They tried to make me take the rental car back before the settlement was even made because they kept dragging their feet about returning phone calls. I tried to search for cheaper insurance and everywhere else was more money, which is why I renewed my policy with them. After paying the premium they sent me a 'reissue' demanding an additional $157 on top of the $1,000 increase they have added already. This insurance company is an absolute joke. Would never recommend them to anyone.

Won't return emails or phone calls. Will not pay out when their client admitted full responsibility for totally off my vehicle.

Letter of claims experience

by Gloria on Jul 30, 2019
1 out of 5 stars

I was with Intact for 5 years, and there was absolutely no phone call from them about an outstanding bill, then issued payment, only for them to auto deduct the payment again, if that pay had been successful, they wouldn't have had an issue I guess, but since that payment was not successful, they cancelled my account. Keeping in mind two attempts to pay the outstanding bill. Then the lady I spoke to was absolutely rude. Then I decided to cancel the policy with them. This was my first outstanding bill in 5 years with them. Now that I'm looking to commit myself to another insurance company, the insurance companies cannot access my Insurance history for whatever reasons known to Intact only. I was forced to request for a Letter of claims experience, only to be told that a mere letter takes 3 weeks to draft (how inefficient is this, I don't care how busy you are, its just a letter). My premiums went up every single year for the 5 years I was with intact, paying over $20,000 in premiums with them and all they could pay me back was make my insurance information inaccessible. I will never recommend this company to anyone, including, my relatives, friends, acquaintances, and anyone...

Intact Insurance scam

by Been scammed lately on Jul 23, 2019
1 out of 5 stars

This is a very below the table company, I am extremely disappointed in them. Had to insure my truck and quad with a new company and chose Intact what a mistake. I had one speeding ticket a couple of years ago 63 in a 50 km zone. I couldn't remember when exactly the ticket was when talking to the rep over the phone. Here's the scam they quoted me 700 $ for the year and then I paid them for the year. Well after a couple of weeks I got a 416 $ bill from them demanding payment because the speeding ticket was within three years. Look out these guys will increase your premiums for one ticket by 60%. Stay away from these guys do yourself a favour so disappointed, I am stuck with them for the year but then I am getting out of this place.

If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.

Worst customer service ever

I was jerked around by intact for over 1.5 months. I had a vehicle towed after an accident and had the tow company take my vehicle and lock it into a holding compound and refused to release the car b/c Intact refused to pay a $15 environmental fee. I talked to 5 “managers” and they assured me they would release the car that day. This happened 5 times was never handled until I had to threaten to sue and leave there business. They have zero consideration for there customers. Worst insurance company ever. They claim to be the cheapest out there. This I agree. You definitely get what you pay for. Not worth a dime.
