Trust me - go elsewhere! You only find out how bad they are when you really need them. We were given the run-around, was impossible to speak with a manager, spoke to 4 separate adjusters and they were all very rude. I've never been spoken to by a business as they spoke to me. Lowball offer for a vehicle, will not send a copy of the policy, took 6 weeks to get an offer to us after an accident, and did not honor the original policy in many aspects.
Save yourself the headache, time, stress, and money, and go to a reputable company. Intact is a joke!
I am in Windsor and my policy increases by 200 Cad monthly. My new charge is 509 a month. This is insane when you are at Windsor. I was paying the same when I was in Toronto. I want to cancel my policy but they said that is going to charge for one and a half months. This is so frustrating.

So back in April 2022, we had a massive snow storm and I drove home from work and parked my car in my driveway. The next day I leave to go to work and I hear what sounds like a scrapping noise under my car. My boyfriend looks at me to find that the snow had got all up in the splash guard of my Honda Civic (which is low to the ground) and completely froze and busted out my splash guard.
I called my insurance broker to find out if the damage would be able to be fixed by insurance. He said he would ask intact and they’d get back to me. 2 weeks passed and I get a call from Wanda at Intact. She states how she’s opened a claim about the damage. Since 2 weeks had already passed and I had to use my car I had already fixed the damage. I call her back she doesn’t answer so I leave her a voicemail saying I didn’t want to open a claim I had a question and the damage was fixed I didn’t need their help it was all fixed. Problem solved
A month later I get this email that I haven’t returned their call regarding my at-fault claim. So I call Wanda again leave her multiple messages she never replies and I forgot about it. Figured she’d get the voicemail (guess I should’ve followed up)
In June (after I had left multiple voicemails and even emailed them) I get a letter if I don’t reply in 5 business days they will be processing the claim as an at-fault claim. So I call Wanda again no answer I leave several voicemails and emails. Never get a hold of her. So I call Intact head office to speak with someone about what happened. I’ve told them all the days I’ve called Wanda. All the emails and how I don’t want an at-fault claim it wasn’t supposed to be a claim it was supposed to be a question and I fixed the damage myself.
A few days later I Finally I get a follow-up email saying that it’s been canceled. I’m like perfect moving on. 2 weeks later I get an email from my insurance broker saying I need to submit a bill to show I fixed the damage. I call my insurance broker and said it was the splash shield the local dealership cut it off and racked up the remainder. So again I figured it’s all fixed move on.
3 days ago I get my insurance renewal and I went down like 3 bucks: no claims, no accidents, and no tickets seem strange to me. So I called another insurer to get a quote to compare prices. Come to find out Intact insurance put on my insurance that it was an at-fault claim in April...
Moral of the story... I have canceled insurance with Intact & have gone with another insurance... low rates, and way better customer service. Shame on you Intact and Wanda for all I have had to deal with since April over something that was supposed to be a question.
I’d give them a 1/2 star rating if it would let me...
This company should be shut down. It took 5 months for them to issue a check for the repairs so I could get the work done. There was one more check for the emergency work. After many calls, the check was finally issued and arrived another week later made out to me and my deceased husband. Obviously, this can't be cashed so I still don't have the money. This company has no concern for anyone else!
I have been with this company for the last 3 years for commercial insurance.
They have no problem collecting over $11000 per year for my "coverage" for this time..
I now have a no-fault accident and my vehicle is now laid up and can not be used...
The accident happened a week ago and I was told an adjuster would be in touch within 24 to 48 hours...
It has now been a week without any contact from them.
I have called the lone number offered by this large company and repeatedly (4 times) was transferred to the call center where they took my information and details of the accident each time and then transferred me to the adjuster department where I sat on hold for an average of 2 hours only to have the phone call dropped and once I ran out of the time I could wait...
The immobilized vehicle is hourly paid and it is my only source of income...
This is not an acceptable way to operate as my money is great to them but my coverage is of lesser importance.
I could not go lower with the star rating as it I have to put at least 1 star to add this review...

I had canceled my policy to go with someone else. Gaven them their notice properly. Because they can’t do their jobs probably they still have taken the money and caused my account to bounce all my other payments. So now I can’t do anything until they give back my money that they had no right to take. I have incurred fees for their incompetence. And all the stress to go with it. Also, need to add can’t get my meds or food now because of them. When I told this them. Their answer to me was THERE ARE PROCEDURES TO RETURN MONEY. AND IT WILL TAKE 30 DAYS TO RETURN MY MONEY. This is not right or fair.
I received my renewal on my car and home insurance. It went up 50% and I have never made a claim. Not only that, I have had an accident in 50 years and neither has my wife. When I called them I was told, "well all insurance companies raised their rates by 50%". This is a lie. I called another insurer and they gave me a quote on a home and 3 cars for $900 less than Intact. They used to have very good rates but not anymore.
I reported a hail damage claim on the client portal. I received a quick standard letter from an adjuster advising he would be dealing with my claim. The standard letter ignores the info entered on the portal and asks a bunch of non-revenant questions.
The adjuster never returned calls.
The call center never followed through on their promises
Weeks have gone by, still have no idea how to proceed.

I had to pay a fee to cancel, as it took a few days longer to get things flipped over to another insurer and I got hit with a bill for over $580 for 4 days of house and car insurance… 12% of the amount of the policy for the year. Been paying $2000 extra a year than I really needed to be, for years. No claims. The average house and my annual amount for insurance kept going up and up. Paying over $4900 in insurance for house and 2 cars (not expensive cars either). I drive less than 2000 km a year.
Voleurs. Nous demande de payer 800$ après résiliation, nous demandons donc une facture détaillées mais ils refusent et nous dit de payer ou bien ils envoient dans le recouvrement. Après 6 mois sans être avec eux, nous recevons un papier disant que nous devons payer 800$ et a la demande de la preuve des détails de facturations ,ils ne disent qu'ils ne peuvent pas nous donner.
