The biggest scammers out there, horrible experience

Do Not Use Intact!!! I was hit by a drunk driver, and my car was ultimately written off by insurance. Not only was their settlement low, but due to a concussion I received from the accident I only was applying to be reimbursed my lost wages as I was unable to work both my jobs for a month (obviously I had doctors notes to corroborate this). After having someone come to my home to go over all the paperwork and submit my claim, saying everything was in order, I get a letter in the mail from someone I’ve never spoken to or dealt with who said my claim had been denied due to “my injuries did not substantiate my claim”. Again, despite having all the proper documentation, they said my concussion didn’t justify them paying me for only a month of lost work time. This is how Intact treats their customers, it is a terrible organization and I have nothing but ill will towards this company. 0/5 stars review is what it should read.

Worst Insurance Company in Canada - Avoid at All Costs!

Was the victim of a hit and run. Intact did absolutely nothing for me. I had a quote from my shop for $3K and they refused to look at it or ask for additional details. They wanted me to SCRAP the car even though it was completely roadworthy, it was just cosmetic body damage. Where will I get a replacement vehicle for $3500??? It was in great shape, repairs made and kept up to date. They refused to even enter into mediation, the Quebec Regulator (AMF) said they were rude and intransigent... only alternative now is to take them to court. I never should have switched (the previous insurer had upped the rate after a few years so I shopped around)... you get what you pay for, and with Intact you get nothing except horrendous service, rude people, and poorly worded letters that look like they used Google Translate. A completely unprofessional organization.

WORST INSURANCE COMPANY

I have an ongoing auto claim with Intact Insurance. Their processes are super slow and I have had the worst experience ever. I am being delayed for more than 2.5 months for my total loss vehicle cheque. They didn't even pay the car rentals and they charged me $2000 on my credit card. I don't recommend anyone the get insurance from this company. They want you to die for the money that you deserve. Upon talking to the higher officers as well you get no response and no time limits. Instead, they suggest you sue the company if you want compensation for the losses you are going through.

Negative rating always. I have also asked a few of my friends to change their insurance company. No one pays to get harassed or get mental depression when you are in a bad situation already cause of the accident.

If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.

You never had insurance

A claim was filed and the car was deemed totalled. They offered quite below market value for a car with average mileage, good shape and more features. Their arguing point was paint chipping in the hood (which had a deflector!!!). No 5 years car in Canada has perfect paint unless repainted! After acrimonious dealing, they went up only to the cheapest/worst car in the market and took the rental from us. Very rude adjuster and supervisor. As instructed by industry regulators, I filed an appeal to 2nd line in Intact and the lady delayed the process. She only moved every time I called her. In the end, they went up a bit, and I accepted to lose around 12% of what would be reasonable. They didn't send a check until I called again. They ended up sending a pre-dated letter and check (the post stamp shows the right date), violating the law (they have 60 days from the original claim date to send the payment, at least the undisputed amount). It was so incriminating, that they sent a letter adding the rental fees as part of the settlement, which again, it's illegal as the fair market value is for the car value plus taxes, not including additional coverages. Not only that, but they also kept charging the prime for 3 months after the car was declared totalled and in their possession. Shortsighted company because they lost me as a client with 2 cars and a home (they would have recovered the difference in a few months), and I have talked many people out of this terrible company.

STAY AWAY

Absolutely horrible experience I'm going through at the moment. I had an accident about 2 months ago where the other driver was at fault and charged. My vehicle was completely totalled. At first, they were quick to help me make my claim, they were on top of everything, and provided me with the information I needed. After that first day; it's impossible to get a hold of ANYONE. I've called at least 5 times a day for the last two months, probably filled up their entire voicemail box, e-mailed them every day, and didn't receive a single response!!! I needed physio, I needed settlement money to get a new vehicle, I needed to know what was going on. Even my insurance broker couldn't and still can't get a hold of them!!!! They couldn't even send me paperwork on time. I got my personal injury paperwork about 3.5 weeks after the accident and had 2 days to get it in before it expired... I emailed them asking if I still had time to submit everything and got no response (needed my employer to sign some papers but he was on vacation so I couldn't get it in)... I did get a rental car for 3 weeks, but the second they offered me a settlement (horrible offer) they took the rental away and I've been left without a vehicle and without money for over a month... I told them I deserved a lot more based on the service they've been provided, and the fact my vehicle was in 10/10 condition before the accident with brand new tires and they said their offer was the best they could do which is complete nonsense. They DON'T CARE, they honestly do not care about their customers. In a perfect world, I would love to sue to get what I deserve in this situation, but I just don't have the time or money right now and just want my settlement money to move on. I'm such an easy-going person and never complain about any negative situation, but this is by far the worst experience I've ever had. DO NOT GO WITH THEM, so many better companies out there; even if you're paying a little extra per month in insurance, do it so you can get better service.

Had a total loss claim

My car was a total loss and I was not at fault. Took 1 month after car getting quoted for them to give an offer, (after I called wondering what was going on) - they had system glitches. Anyway, they offered me the low side of car value. and I tried to negotiate. Once they give you an offer they cut off your rental car, even though they caused a 2-week delay by not being organized, and I have unlimited rental car coverage as it was not at fault. Customer service was rude. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY
