I have comprehensive insurance for my car. After total loss they provided me rental car only for 3 days. I am renting a car on my own expense until buy other used car for myself. Nothing but bad experience
When I first purchased the insurance, my experience was fine -no concerns, however after the policy ended, the price of my insurance increased a lot and I didn't make any claims.
I had an M.V.A. on June 19/'23 in Pittsburgh, PA, and my vehicle is still there, WHY?
1) I still don't know where exactly where my vehicle is.
2) I don't know WHEN it'll come back to Canada.
3) After the initial estimate of damages, parts are NOT ordered yet?
4) When I will be driving my BRAND NEW (2023 HONDA CR-V) S.U.V. again?
Nothing but excuses and lies!
I had to pay a fee to cancel, as it took a few days longer to get things flipped over to another insurer and I got hit with a bill for over $580 for 4 days of house and car insurance… 12% of the amount of the policy for the year. Been paying $2000 extra a year than I really needed to be, for years. No claims. The average house and my annual amount for insurance kept going up and up. Paying over $4900 in insurance for house and 2 cars (not expensive cars either). I drive less than 2000 km a year.
My vehicle was damaged while parked. I had to continually follow up with the agent assigned for over 3 weeks. No repairs had been started, or approvals provided to the body shop. Had left over 10 messages for status, and the agent never called me back or apologized for any delay. What does one get for paying their fees... The worst insurance company I've dealt with! I will be pulling my business!
Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.
We were really liking this insurer despite the higher rates however, over the past few years our coverage costs have increased to the point that it seems no longer worth staying with Intact when other companies offer much better rates. We'd hope that Intact would have a better loyalty program to keep us with them but that doesn't seem to be the case.
No knowledge and trying to put all expenses on the customer. They have recommended body shops which will agree with their statements.
What a ridiculous process.
Started the claim online, it is supposed it is going to be easy. I explained everything and fill all the information. Also added pictures and a video because was a hit-and-run. Then someone called me back and asked exactly the same questions. Was a hit-and-run on my driveway at 12:50 am I was sleeping but my camera recorded the incident. The question was if I saw the driver and I did contact him. They never review or saw the video or the pictures. The person on the phone said they don't have access to the attachments in the claim.
If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.
I have had THE WORST EXPERIENCE dealing with Intact. I was not at fault, but they would not take my side until I kept pressing. Finally, I was told after HOURS AND HOURS AND MONTHS not budging for them to accept not at fault. They told me not to worry and that everything would be covered. I did not pay for any damages, renewed my insurance, and went for treatment for my injuries. THEN I find out from the OTHER driver's insurance company that they accepted 50/50 on my behalf of me. WITHOUT MY KNOWLEDGE! They did this sneakily months after my policy was renewed so I would not see the changes. This DIRECTLY affects my ability to get money for injuries and financially for any future policies and injuries. They LIED and OBFUSCATED what was happening - ZERO transparency. VERY, VERY DISTURBING!

I have had the misfortune of dealing with Intact. First problem was a misquote from my broker. I paid over $600 up front for what I thought was a year of coverage. Intact raised the rate by $300?? I spoke to my broker May 9th who told me to wait until mid-June when I was to send balance.
I work out of town and out of country. No one from my broker or Intact contacted me to say Intact wanted payment on May 9th. Intact without contacting me, cancelled my policy and, I am told, included a CHEQUE for $260?! I have been driving for 3 weeks with no insurance. My life could have been destroyed by these people. They won't put policy back in force because of "NON-PAYMENT"!! Non-payment and you send me a cheque?
Don't trust these people.
I buy insurance thinking, they've got my back. God help anyone who is as naive as I was.
