I have comprehensive insurance for my car. After total loss they provided me rental car only for 3 days. I am renting a car on my own expense until buy other used car for myself. Nothing but bad experience
When I first purchased the insurance, my experience was fine -no concerns, however after the policy ended, the price of my insurance increased a lot and I didn't make any claims.
We were really liking this insurer despite the higher rates however, over the past few years our coverage costs have increased to the point that it seems no longer worth staying with Intact when other companies offer much better rates. We'd hope that Intact would have a better loyalty program to keep us with them but that doesn't seem to be the case.
WORST company I've ever had to deal with. The mistakes and excuses given are like nothing I've ever heard before. After a week of waiting for their adjustor which was pointless because the estimate wasn't even accurate. I was told my car was at the body shop and getting fixed and I would get a call when it is ready. 10 days later I get a call thinking my car should be ready, only to learn its a loss, they won't fix it, return the rental in 1 business day. Their adjustor missed stuff because he didn't put the car on a hoist because "the battery was dead". For 10 days I thought my car was being fixed so I took no action to look into other options, I was informed no one contacted me because there was a "clerical error, and my claims representative was sick and in training a few days". Had to argue to have the rental longer as I was blindsided due to their mistakes, extending the rental should have just been offered at the very least! I was offered money for my car that couldn't get me something equivalent as the kms were low and the car was in great condition. So the day I found out this news I left work to get a second opinion on the damage of my car to find out the company towed it an hour away the same day they called me to give me the news but didn't inform me or even mention the car would be moved. The excuse this time was "that was a mistake". Its never-ending difficulties and they do nothing to accommodate, just give excuses and make the client suffer for it.
My car got hit and was a write-off (not at fault) They have a police where 2 days after they give you the offer to settle you have to return the rental car.
When I was given the offer to settle the accident, I told them I'd talk to my wife and get back to them. So I called them back and didn't get an answer and left a message (Wednesday). Thursday came around and I left another message. Friday I left another message and at this point now the car is do back before 5, and without a response from them, I can't do anything or move forward with a new car because I can't get a hold of them. So I would be without a car for the weekend and would have to forfeit my weekend plans (cottage) So I kept the rental till Monday, сalled and left another message, no reply, so I then tried to switch adjusters, they tried calling my first one and couldn't contact her either. Finally, on Tuesday I got a call back, and now I owe $124 for the rental. Even though my adjuster disappeared for four business days and couldn't let me move forward with a new car, they still won't cover the car rental, and not a single person even apologized for my adjuster going missing for four days, leaving my in limbo.
Very unprofessional, let me know you'll be out of office, cover the $124 for screwing me over, even an apology would have been nice. But no, they just kept repeating “you only get two days with the rental after offer”.
If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.
I recently had a collision that required me to replace my vehicle. I purchased another vehicle THE DAY AFTER accepting their settlement offer. The dealer required 10 days to prep the vehicle for delivery. While the settlement was fair and communication adequate, they refused to cover my rental for all of those 10 days, leaving 5 days where I had to pay out of pocket for a rental, despite the promised coverage in the policy.
They kept raising our rates. We have 3 cars and a house policy last year it went up and we just go. Our renewal and it’s gone up again by almost 100.00 to make the payment of almost 1000.00 a month. I shopped around and everyone else had that same coverage there have been no claims tickets or accidents.
Voleurs.

Had a commercial insurance policy with Intact and had a small claim. The service was OK and the repair was done which I paid for. Intact then quadrupled my monthly rate. It was pretty outrageous so I'm currently hunting for another insurance company.
They were easy to deal with until I had a claim. The start of my claim was easy, right up until it was deemed a total loss. Once that was decided customer service went way down hill. They gave me 3 days to return my rental (i was maybe at $250 of the $2500 i was covered for) My less then a year old truck was written off in a wind storm in mid may, after a month I finally was paid out the difference of my loan and what I had paid into it, via direct deposit into my account( this would have taken much longer if I did not fight for it, I had no transportation to work or daycare for my child). June 12 it was my understanding that everything was dealt with and done. I received a call today July 29th from TD where my loan (is still currently through) stating that my account is 50+ days past due because intact never paid them anything. When I called intact the proceeded to put the blame on me, they mailed out my $30,000+ payout cheque twice via snail mail, rather then courier with tracking, the first time it was lost and the second one (only sent out on July 25) they still have not received!! Needless to say I made the call to switch companies today.
