Good then, then backstabbed

I have had good experiences with BelairDirect in the past when I got into my first accident. Recently, however, my opinion of them changed drastically. I had changed bank accounts where payments were coming out of & let them know of it. For some reason, they could not take the $ out of the new account. After talking to an agent at BelairDirect & trying to figure out if it was something on their end, I had to call my bank. The bank had stated there were no blocks etc on my account. Funny enough I have other pre-authorized payments come out of the same account. I call Belair Direct back to confirm that the bank found nothing wrong with my account. In the end, BelairDirect decided to cancel my policy even though I had updated my information with them. After paying BelairDirect x amount of $ to bring my balance to zero, I had to then look for another insurance company. Here is where it gets stranger. With the crash proof policy, I was under the assumption that it would not affect my insurance in any way. Was so very wrong. Between that, a silly winter ticket ($85 fine) & their inability to take $ out of the new account I had to be classified as a "high risk" driver & find a policy which reflects that. I was screwed over at least twice. Even though I had facts on my side, no one wanted to listen. Avoid BelairDirect like the plague.

Renewal rip-off

I had an at-fault accident last year and 2 years ago damage to my vehicle which was not rated as an accident. Now they are saying I "used up" my accident forgiveness with my first claim of damage to the vehicle and therefore my rate goes up 200%... after 26 years of accident free and one speeding ticket on my record that seems crazy... got comparable rates from other insurances and instead of paying Belairdirect $330/month I will be with another company at $150/month starting April...

Very bad company.

I had a couple of collisions and I take responsibility for that. They then decided that I was a high risk driver and canceled my policy. Up to this moment I was still good with that . But what is terrible about them is the fact that they started contacting everyone living at that same address with me requesting them to sign a form confirming that I do not drive their cars. On those forms my names were clearly printed and they asked me to also sign the form. My question is "if I am not insured with you anymore, why do u keep insisting that I sign some documents "? They threaten those clients of theirs telling them if I do not sign the document, their policy will be canceled . What is wrong with this Belair people? The management sucks and the employees are terribly rude. I am not signing anymore of those stupid forms of yours. In fact, the worst company I have ever dealt with.

If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.

so bel air was sending me daily flyers saying theyre so much cheaper. used their online quote and yep,$850 a year! $1000 less than im paying. so I call them up give them my info and the rate goes up to $1400 because I have two tickets. no problem. 3 days go by, I literally have the insurance active for 12 hours and they call me up. I paid for the entire year up front,my mistake! now they want another $600 because "they verified that I received 2 tickets" um yea,the 2 I told you about. at $2000 a year that's more than I was paying!!! told them to cancel it and they reply by saying ok cancellation fee will be this much, you have to pay for the 12 hours etc etc.nope.fighting them now every way I can to get my money back. important to note that at no point have I been given a copy of the policy.

Don't even bother calling

First time to get additional coverage.
They ask how many tickets did i get within the last 5 years.
If it is more than 6 points, forget it!
Not 6 points per year, it is 6 points in 5 years!
So yeah, basically they just want a grandpa and grandma driver.
Dont even bother calling them.
Wasting time!

Don't ever move.

I'm now well into my second year with this company. I just recently moved and switched over my address. Apparently, my new address is such a high risk area that my premium has gone up $860 per year.. Are you kidding me?! My policy expires in February and there's no way I'll renew. My insurance went from under $2100 a year up to $2900. I was thinking about adding a second vehicle, but I quickly changed my mind when I was quoted almost $5000 per year for two vehicles. Where's the multi-vehicle discount they tout on about so much? (Full coverage on one and just liability on the other)

I was also informed that I don't have accident forgiveness unless I pay extra to add it to my policy now before anything happens. They never bothered to tell me this when I signed up.

In addition, I had a speeding ticket for 15 KM/H over about 3 and a half years ago. I was told that it's still on my record with Belair until my policy renewal? What?! So they can increase my rates through the roof for a change of address, but they can't remove the ticket until renewal? What a scam.

I highly recommend avoiding this company at all costs.

Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.

Awful Experience

I recently received a quote that I was somewhat pleased with. I called them back within a couple hours about adding my boyfriend on as an occasional driver and they told me that they would have to cancel my insurance as they deemed him an unsafe driver (had 4 speeding tickets in the last 3 years). I carried on and found insurance elsewhere but noticed that they had not put the first double payment deposit back into my account. I called them about this discrepancy and they told me that they actually insured me for the random number of 20 days (WITHOUT EVER TELLING ME BECAUSE I FOUND OTHER INSURANCE ELSEWHERE AND FEW DAYS LATER). Infact, they told me that I should be considered lucky because I could be charged 13% of my quoted total for the year. Having to pay for a service I did not use (and did not even know I had), is wrong on so many levels. I will never insure with this fake scam of a company ever again, even if they offer the lowest rate. I advise YOU to STAY AWAY from belairdirect.
