Worst experience ever....

by Tony on May 28, 2018
1 out of 5 stars

1. Was told 3 different dates for adjuster to see my car 2. Was told 3 different dates for car rental coverage (which I paid for and am covered for) 3. Was hung up on 3 times 4. Asked to speak to my claim manager and was told she (Shauna) was in a meeting all day 5. Adjuster didn’t want to fix all damages and scratches 6. Adjuster wanted to cheaply fix damages. All of this is under premium insurance, mind you. They throw technicalities and formalities at you when you aren’t satisfied with the poor service and rude staff members. Every time I called to try to resolve a problem, they would issue a new problem. Nothing but headaches. And they do not hold themselves accountable for what comes out of their staff members mouths. Never ever get insurance from these bum crooks. Worst company ever!!!

Disgusting Insurance Company

by Very unhappy customer on Apr 18, 2018
1 out of 5 stars

I have been a customer of Belair (formerly Canada Direct) for fifteen years. I have never had a claim during that entire period until last October when I had a broken windshield replaced. I paid the $200.00 deductible had the work done and never thought anything more about it. I have just received my car insurance renewal notice and was informed that due to my claims history they can no longer offer me Windshield Replacement in my new policy. Contacting the company to get this stupidity reversed proved fruitless and I was informed that I could apply for coverage again in three years if I do not have any more glass claims. It appears that as long as you blindly pay for services that you do not use, you are considered a good customer, but the minute you use the service you have been paying for, they drop you. Makes one wonder why insurance companies are allowed to get away with these games. My recommendation to anyone who cares to listen is to avoid this company. There are other companies out there. You may pay slightly more but in the end, it will be worth it.

Very bad insurance

Very expensive. 1 way 300$ month. I've left them because other insurances are charging me $300 full with $1million covered. I'm so happy I've left them.

Horrible Cust Srv. No Star

Good that you are here reading reviews of Belair! Beware, they took $555 from my account and now i have incurred overdraft charges! I spoken to an agent and she said, that a manager would call me back in 2 hours and 30 minutes time but that didn't happen and still waited another hour and yet no calls on Friday. Prior to this conversation, i call to cancel my home insurance because they are unable to assist to reduce my premium after being 5 years with them and no claims! Btw, they can increase your premium on the yearly basis without explanation. They decided to cancel my auto insurance instead! was without 2 days of coverage until i receive an email and immediately call them to let them know their mistake. Imagine if i had an accident on those 2 days without coverage!
Fast forward, Tuesday morning, Received a call from a different manager and she mentioned that the manager who suppose to handle my case got involved in an accident! Now this manager is looking at my case as for now which. There is no sense of urgency with this company! The Agent told me that she would take care of this issue but did not! Liars! If you want to screw your credit, call these guys! Horrible!.
I have moved mover to another insurance company that does give better rate! Save $600 a year!!

I had been an accident free driver since gaining my insurance. However I was hit by someone on their phone in a parking lot. I was backing out of a spot, saw someone coming and stopped. As she approached I could see she was on her phone and the front passenger headlight went under my right rear fender. She struck me, admitted she wasnt paying attention at the scene. So I though "its a minor fender bender, she's ok, but I'm going to report it anyways just in case". I come to find out she completely lied on the police report, Belair said they would 'investigate'. Well, their investigation took all of 45 minutes and assigned the fault to me. No explanation, nothing. I had come to a complete stop, to allow her right of way(technically I was entering the 'roadway'), and she just drove straight into me.
My claims person was less than helpful, the sales said my insurance was going to up 250$ a year(which I've spoken to police, and they agree that she struck me). I have told them I will be fighting the decision. I was paying 134$/month total. Now remember the 250$ increase? Somehow their math that equates to 184$/month. Needless to say I am jumping ship ASAP.

Bel Air Direct

by Devin I. on Feb 1, 2017
1 out of 5 stars

If your reading this youve done the right thing and looked up reviews on Bel Air before anything. Let me start off by saying i should of done the same. So i got a quote given by bel air direct (canada $1670 or 144/month)insurance i can finally afford! so i buy a truck. bought it used and private sale so i had to transfer the truck into my name and needed to have it safetied and etested (understandable)but in canada u need 10day temp plates to get it home and around to different shops that can have the safety and e test done. I go to the ministry and they tell me i need insurance to be able to 1. Get real plates and 2. Get the 10 day temp pass. Lady at the ministry said call my insurance company it takes 2 seconds.. 30mins on the phone later apparently bel air doesnt do that. (LoL what!?!) Yea we dont know if other companies do that but we dont do that "we need to see a safety cert from a mechanic before we can provide any policy numbers" and then suggested i have my car towed to from the guys house to a safety shop and then to an e test shop.. well lone behold the truck fails safety and needs a little work.. safety shop isnt a repair shop so towed it off to repair shop. 1500$ later and bunch of non sense later i got my safety and e test done and my truck in my name and keys in hand only thing left was to send in my paperwork and banking info to the insurance company and get that policy number sobi can get my plates! ..so i call them and they said the typical whats ur number ill look up your file and then when i cut her off from asking questions that ive been asked 5 times over to ask her if they have a fax number so i can fax over all nessiciary paperwork. She goes "well hang on a minute we can get u finalized before all that", at this point im happy im at this stage but mindblasted at what she just said. I asked her "finalize what? Everything your asking me was already asked of me and was marked on file and even recorded the phone call for reference" and her reply was simply "Oh well it says here u got a claim?" Long story short apparently the other quote guy forgot to add on an accident to my quote.. but in the phone call had mentioned all about the claim she was saying wasnt added on.. in the end they want $2460a year or 204/month like man im so pissed. Basically because of a mistake on Bel Air Directs end that they are not willing to honor i have to sell my truck.. after Bel Air Direct had me dragging it all over town with a tow truck to try and save a buck on insurance i should of known to go with a better company one that stands behind they employees and their mistakes. And for the people still reading get this! She even had told me exactly what i was going to be paying per month down to the last cent on the new quote but then even had the nerve to say the new quote might not be the final price..dont waste your time people and your money. Just go somewhere you trust these people tryed to rip me off hard.. after i worked so hard to bring them safety certificate it doesnt even mean nothing now like cmon.. worst insurance company there is.. its now wonder they had to run an ad on Omni Tv 35,000x over.. no good word of mouth spreading from me only my experiences with the company.

Great service in Quebec!

by Matt D on Jan 21, 2017
5 out of 5 stars

I can't speak for services in other provinces but I have nothing but good things to say about belairdirect in Quebec. They were always friendly and helpful. I had one claim with them when somebody backed into my parked car. The process of getting my vehicle repaired was as stress free as possible. The province's no fault insurance and low rates helped the experience but, overall, it was the positive interactions with many different representatives that moved me to write this review. Good service shouldn't go unnoticed. I recently moved back to BC and deal with ICBC where my only complaint is the high rates: $100/mo compared to the $35/mo I was paying for the same coverage in Quebec.

Insurance claim

by Ed on Jan 1, 2017
4.5 out of 5 stars

Our vehicle sustained a lot of damage as a result of being hit by a deer. We contacted Belaire claims dept. resulting in a very prompt, professional handling of our claim. Our vehicle was repaired in a timely fashion and quality of the repair was excellent. Belaire kept us informed throughout the process. We were very happy with the reponse and level of service we received.

If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.

Terrible Customer Service

by lkorah on Sep 6, 2016
1 out of 5 stars

I was in an automobile accident and in the span of two weeks my claim was transferred to four different adjusters. No one seems to be able to update me on the status of my claim or whether someone has even been able to view my vehicle and assess the damage. The garage has been more forthcoming than this sham of an insurance company. They don't seem to have a problem withdrawing money out of my account every month but the status of a claim...now that's asking for too much! While Belair Direct may offer better rates than other insurance companies, you get what you pay for! Avoid insuring with Belair Direct at all costs.
