As an ex-employee of BelairDirect, fired for being honest and transparent with Clients and as their Client that got screwed by them as well, I am writing this review to open people's eyes on this illegal front insurer. I could not stand seeing how BelairDirect awards bonuses that go as high as paid vacation trips down south for employees that extra harsh and conservative when determining the claim value and firing all those that prefer to be honest and treat everyone from co-workers to clients fairly and transparently. Because I was not harsh enough with clients, they fired me. I was so devastated that the same day I hit my car for the first time in my life. Not only they dragged me but also tried to use the very same tactics that they use on regular clients on me that was until the very last moment their employee. So, 3 months of ping pong and they finally paid 60% (yes, 60%) of the total repair estimate. They argued that some of the parts don’t need to be replaced. My garage, where I go all the time, said that they are always under pressure from insurers to do a bad job as these cars would still be getting sold year or two later.

Never trust belair

by stephaniemayers on Jun 13, 2016

Don't trust them forgiving you 2 claims if you are at fault. Don't trust them giving you discount of 15% when you insure more than one car or a car house combo. THESE ARE ALL LIES.

What they did with us, they increased us from one year to another a whopping 34% but said it was not because we had a at fault accident and so forth but simply the general statistics fr our kind of car got worse and the area where we live in became more dangerous. Well, the whole planet is becoming more and and dangerous and no one wants to steal an old cross-country Volvo.

So, just lies on top of other lies.

Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.

Not impressed

I had my first at fault fender bender, in March this year and got accident forgiveness...how nice!

I traded the vehifcle that was being fixed and bought a brand new one.

Here's the kicker!

My new vehcile is at the same body shop as I had wonderful hit&run damages. It was in a parking lot. I didn't notice until it was pointed out later. So didn't do a police report, because I thought I could get it fixed.

The bodyshop showed me more damages incurred by the hit&run, when we were looking over the damages that I saw,

This insurance company basically that no police there's no report, then I'm automatically "at fault". Plus, the premiums are going to increased.

PATHETIC!!! Is there actually an insurance company that looks at driving record and invidual themselves? I sincerely doubt it!!!

Bad experience

I called Belair Direct to get a quote on my new car. The agent asked a series of question, one of which was whether or not I had any accidents in the last 6 years. I replied No somehow thinking that he was referring to accidents for which I was deemed responsible. He gave me a great quote and we proceeded with signing me up. Upon verification of claims history using my driver's license number, his tone changed and said that I had made a claim the year before. I had failed to disclose that I made 1 claims (in 10 YEARS). That is true: I was stopped at a red light and a mini-van slipped on a thin ice and hit my car from behind. The damages were not too bad (approx 1000$) and the other driver assumed full responsibility. I didn't even pay the franchise. So this moron agent from Belair direct freaks out and basically accuses me of lying. He then increases the premium by 220$. I told him that I honestly did not think that that fender bender for which I was NOT responsible was relevant during his questioning. He refused to hear me out. So I called another company and obtained a quote with a full disclosure of my previous claim, and I was given a premium which is 60% less than what the Belair direct agent gave me.

Speechless

I am totally speechless of the nightmare I have lived through with this insurer. I've refused my claim based on no evidence other than simply saying that they do not believe me. I have been their client for 5 years and always was a good client with no issues.

For me it was a matter of principle to have justice and this is why I have spent close to $15000 of my savings to sue them in court. So 2 years passed by before I finally see the first day of trial. I am overwhelmed with emotions that justice will be rendered to these dishonest people, a step most of honest Canadians don't have the means of getting to. And guess what? to my biggest astonishment, I witness for the first time that their influence extends to court. I lose...I realize to what point the whole process is staged or bribed or both. Only then you realize that you are facing a simple insurer but an enormous machine capable of spending 10 times more simply not have you win the trial, so that a precedent cannot be set for the future for normal people to go this way.

Astonishingly, I realize that we have to deal with the same issues that people in corrupt underdeveloped countries. So, spread the word if you have been in the same situation.

If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.

Worst company ever

I'm not insured with Belair Direct. But the guy, who spun out and crashed into me, was. They delayed, delayed, delayed paying up at every opportunity. Eventually, they claimed that their client was not insured at the time of the accident because of some loophole. Their client ended up GETTING CHARGED for driving without insurance. Well, the police and courts eventually determined that he was in fact insured and are basically attempting to force Belair Direct to pay. It's been over a year and I've had to pay my deductible and the accident went ON MY INSURANCE. They are still giving my insurance company the runaround and refuse to pay for the damages even with a court telling them they have to. They think they are above the law. DO NOT GO WITH THIS COMPANY. For your own financial safety, because if you are at fault in an accident they will do whatever it takes to NOT COVER YOU. I think they might be having financial problems to go to such lengths to avoid paying. Greasy company full of losers. NEVER GO WITH THEM.

I went from 2 cars to 1 two weeks ago and lost the multi vehicle discount. I then purchase a second vehicle a week later an asked for my dicount. I got it all right . An increase of $160.00 on my old vehicle and a $130.00 multi vehicle discount
. I can't wait for renewal time to kiss them goodby. The worst company that I ever deal with 60 years.

Beware of Requesting Quotes

by DJWatson on May 27, 2016
1 out of 5 stars

Belair Direct promotes their simple system for obtaining insurance quotes but it construes verbal conversations as legal contracts. It proceeds without any written confirmation from the potential customer or the need for any initial payment to finalize the deal. The BD business practice is to avoid the time-honoured approach of signed contracts, but instead issue coverage documents based on the detailed conversations that are needed to arrive at an accurate insurance quote for comparison with other insurers. BD marketing people will apply sales pressure in follow-up phone calls. Other insurance companies will require at least a minimum payment and signed documents as a basis for insurance coverage. Avoid any conversations with BD personnel if you are just compiling insurance quotes for comparison.

AVOID BELLAIR DIRECT

by Upsetmom on May 25, 2016

After an application was submitted for auto insurance, the company made me wait one month before I had to contact them to find out something was missing on the application. The application had the words "n/a" and ""none" required to be placed back in the ORIGINAL papers. They said they would send the letter in the mail right away. It didn't arrive and I had to contact them once more. They said it was sent already...lies and laziness causing me hardship. My previous insurance was cancelled since I had a quote from Bellair and I thought it would take over. Now I am 3 weeks without insurance and they are taking their sweet time with my application. I filled out a another BLANK application and submitted it on a thursday. I called every day the following week and they received nothing. Yesterday was already 2 weeks and they said once more nothing had arrived. How could that be??? When I told them I would have to look for another company because this is ridiculous, the phone rep (not customer rep) said she would make a note. 2 months now and no insurance!!! so Frustrating!! PLEASE STAY AWAY IF YOU DONT WANT CHAOS!
