I won't talk much because reliving my experience with Belairdirect will kill me. I advise anyone and everyone to please stay away from this insurance company. They are evil, very rude, inconsiderate and are only interested in your insurance payments. I had a horrible accident and was maltreated for 2 years by my adjustor from Belair. She's apparently in the US and I'm in Canada. Anytime I see their ads on TV, I get chills. Sign up with them at your own risk. I don't care what other insurance company you get, there are so many out there. But please stay away from Belair! You don't need to relive my experience.
First, they mailed the package to a non-existent address so I had to ask 3 times for it. I was specifically told with the package I purchased I would receive the entire amount of the purchase price of my car if something happened. A year later at renewal time, I find out I NEVER HAD THAT FEATURE !!! They would gladly add it now for more than $100. Per year. They refuse to correct their mistake HORRID COMPANY
Hi, I have been with Belairdirect for almost 2 years, no problem at all. But then my cousin came to live with me and I added him to my insurance. As expected, my insurance went up with 40 dollars but after 3 weeks he moved out. I provide them with proof, called them for more than 3 times, my insurance is still 332 and I got into an accident. They are giving me hard time even when I am not at fault.
From the very beginning until now I've had the worst experience with Belair. I got a new car and needed to insure it. I called a few insurance companies for a quote and theirs was the lowest at the time. I signed up with them and agreed to premium which would cost me $328 a month. It's my first time having an auto insurance under my name, so I settled for the high amount I would have to pay since there were no records of me driving. I was always insured under my dad's policy, but he didn't have me signed up as a second driver. They told me if I have a clean record after a while, my premium would go down. I gave them my bank account number for pre-authorized payments set for every middle of the month. I got a paper mail showing the break down of the cost and what's covered in my premium. To my surprise, it shows that I have to pay $345 a month when the representative clearly told me it's only $328 a month. $17 is quite a jump. I gave them a call to complain, but the representative told me I have to pay $345. She can see on the system that I was quoted $328, but somehow it got reassessed and they didn't even let me know! I kept telling her I was quoted for $328 and asked to talk to the guy who I spoke with. She wouldn't transfer me to him, saying they have all the records on the system and she will help me out. She didn't do anything about it and her tone of voice was implying that I should just pay that much and stop complaining. I was so mad! Remember, I gave them my bank account info? I kept checking my online bank to see if they took any money yet. 1 and 1/2 month later still nothing. I thought maybe they just set it for a different day than what I had told them. I went for a trip, so I didn't bother about it. I thought they could just take the money whenever since it'll be in my account anyway. I received a paper mail again saying they will cancel my insurance if I don't start paying. I called them again regarding this issue raging about the situation. So happens, the representative entered the wrong account number. Now, I'm 4 payments behind since the first month is a double. I gave them my account number again and agreed to get the money at the end of the month. They decided to take 5 payments instead of 4 when the fifth one wasn't due for another 3 weeks. I'm only 23, so I have everything on the budget plus I have other bills too. I make sure I have enough funds on my account for all the pre-authorized payments, but they messed up! My account is negative and the extra money they took was supposed to be for a different bill. I'm getting a bad credit 'cause of them! I asked for a refund, but they said they'd rather not 'cause it takes 21 business days to get the refund which my next payment is due anyway. Who knows if they're gonna take another payment again for this month when they said they won't. THEY'RE ALL LIARS! Their system is messed up! The representatives always say "They don't know". Hire better people and have better communication. I am so moving to a different company. I don't even know why they keep sending me a new pink copy every month? The start and expiry date always get updated every month. I don't remember getting a new one every month from my dad's policy.
I got into a car accident and I gained a considerable amount of weight because of it (lack of mobility and emotional eating). I then developed diabetes because of it. I asked to be seen by a dietitian but they did not approve it. They said that it is not reasonable or necessary. I did not know that my overall health was not important enough. Worst insurance company.
Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.
The service is ridiculous it takes 3weeks or more before you can have the insurance.
As an ex-employee of BelairDirect, fired for being honest and transparent with Clients and as their Client that got screwed by them as well, I am writing this review to open people's eyes on this illegal front insurer. I could not stand seeing how BelairDirect awards bonuses that go as high as paid vacation trips down south for employees that extra harsh and conservative when determining the claim value and firing all those that prefer to be honest and treat everyone from co-workers to clients fairly and transparently. Because I was not harsh enough with clients, they fired me. I was so devastated that the same day I hit my car for the first time in my life. Not only they dragged me but also tried to use the very same tactics that they use on regular clients on me that was until the very last moment their employee. So, 3 months of ping pong and they finally paid 60% (yes, 60%) of the total repair estimate. They argued that some of the parts don’t need to be replaced. My garage, where I go all the time, said that they are always under pressure from insurers to do a bad job as these cars would still be getting sold year or two later.
I am totally speechless of the nightmare I have lived through with this insurer. I've refused my claim based on no evidence other than simply saying that they do not believe me. I have been their client for 5 years and always was a good client with no issues.
For me it was a matter of principle to have justice and this is why I have spent close to $15000 of my savings to sue them in court. So 2 years passed by before I finally see the first day of trial. I am overwhelmed with emotions that justice will be rendered to these dishonest people, a step most of honest Canadians don't have the means of getting to. And guess what? to my biggest astonishment, I witness for the first time that their influence extends to court. I lose...I realize to what point the whole process is staged or bribed or both. Only then you realize that you are facing a simple insurer but an enormous machine capable of spending 10 times more simply not have you win the trial, so that a precedent cannot be set for the future for normal people to go this way.
Astonishingly, I realize that we have to deal with the same issues that people in corrupt underdeveloped countries. So, spread the word if you have been in the same situation.
If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.
I'm not insured with Belair Direct. But the guy, who spun out and crashed into me, was. They delayed, delayed, delayed paying up at every opportunity. Eventually, they claimed that their client was not insured at the time of the accident because of some loophole. Their client ended up GETTING CHARGED for driving without insurance. Well, the police and courts eventually determined that he was in fact insured and are basically attempting to force Belair Direct to pay. It's been over a year and I've had to pay my deductible and the accident went ON MY INSURANCE. They are still giving my insurance company the runaround and refuse to pay for the damages even with a court telling them they have to. They think they are above the law. DO NOT GO WITH THIS COMPANY. For your own financial safety, because if you are at fault in an accident they will do whatever it takes to NOT COVER YOU. I think they might be having financial problems to go to such lengths to avoid paying. Greasy company full of losers. NEVER GO WITH THEM.
The worst insurance company in the entire world, hands down. Will take extra money whenever they feel like it, causing you NSF fees and reinstatement fees, not to mention messing with your credit score. These agents get paid to ruin your life. They get away with lying and stealing. And there's nothing you can do about it. Hope I have saved one person from HELL by writing this.
