Truck was stolen, Turned up on the reserve, Totaled. Appraiser came out, a week and a half later, way undervalued my 4x4 truck , he provides only one vehicle as his "market research" and says that's what its worth. I provide vehicle pictures ,service and repair receipts and provide 6 ads of comparable vehicles from kijiji and auto trader. They don't even look at it !!!
They then send me a letter saying essentially "your vehicle is worth this" siting no evidence or research* and also say they are refusing to pay for storage cost and I only had a rental for 2 weeks!! They are rude, short and hard to understand. They yell at me and refuse to look at the information I have provided. Currently It's only been a month since the theft but now the insurance company just sent me a letter with no prior notice that They will not be covering the storage fee. I had my vehicle stolen and they treat me like the criminal even after all the premium I paid. This insurance company should be barred from insuring in Ontario
Please !! Stay away from Desjardins....I was with them for 7 years. In 2013, I had an accident with my BMW. They denied my claim because airbag didnt deploy or my engine was leaking oil or I was turning from the wrong street. It's been a long litigation. I am as the time of this post fighting in Quebec court to make my case heard. Worst Worst Expereince of my life. They take your money so easily and treat you like criminal.
They want to know where I got the money from to buy the car. Who borrowed me money. They ask to see the receipt, every transaction paper trail...my phone bill to see if i arrange the accident with the other driver...OOhhh.
Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.
After searching for a more comprehensive insurance program that included Home & Auto at a reasonable price I cancelled my Desjardins auto insurance effective May 1, 2015.
Unfortunately, they would not give me a formula detailing a cancellation charge and then made an unauthorized withdrawal from my bank for 30% of the remaining two and a half months of my contract!
I will never recommend or shop Desjardins because of what I call a shady, and underhanded process at that company.
When I was doing the claim, the agent told me that my first accident would be forgiven because it is the first one and my record was good before.
I double checked with him and he was certain about it.
I was glad and move money around and plan to get a new car.
After a day, when I mentioned it to the lady who was taking care of the claim. She told me that it would not be forgiven and would increase my insurance. She admitted it was an error on their side.
So I started changing the plan and getting a used one instead , trying to get quote for used car on their website.
A salesperson or representative call me on Sat and wanted to sell me something based on my online quote. After explaining to her, she said she would like to help and transfer me to her colleague
However, her colleague blamed me for not knowing the policies throughly. I told her that I trusted the first agent as a professional who knows about the auto insurance better than I do. And then she started becoming really rude and arrogant, said it was my responsibilities , and not theirs. And when I told her I was prepared not to drive once the insurance matures. She responded by " It is your choice not to drive" , really really rude way/tone.
They are the worst you can possibly go to. I am currently having a terrible experience with Desjardins both car & home insurance.
The rude and racist customer service ruined my week because of a lousy mistake on their end and increased in total $120 for an address update for on both coverage. I really want to escalate this issue and also search for a new auto insurance company. Its been such a horrible experience.
Seems they plan to make mistakes and when you ask for updates, they increase monthly payments. Stay away please.
Got rear-ended and it was my first accident and first claim. Couldn't be happier with the process, which was handled professionally and in a timely manner. The accident happened on Sunday night and I informed CRC and Desjardin immediately. Did some research online to see what the process is like to prepare myself and was frightened after reading all the complaints about Desjardin. Next morning around 8:30am (that was way faster than I expected) I received a call from my adjuster and was told he received the police report already and just need to confirm some information and that I was 100% not at fault, my DCPD deductible is $0. He did talk very fast but I feel that he was able to answer all of questions very clearly and professionally. I was informed that because my car is 4 years old, they are not required to use OEM except for certain circumstances (ie: there are no used or aftermarket parts), was not happy when I heard that but I'll wait till the appraiser sees my car and what the repair estimate looks like.
I decided to go with the bodyshop recommended by my dealership and called back and left my adjuster a voicemail. It is half true that they can never be reached, but I can totally undetstand as I used to work in a busy envrionment where the phone never stops ringing, and the people who complain can never understand the simple concept "if I am already on the phone, I can't answer your call". And you will be surprised that most people don't know how to leave a voicemail, no name, no phone number, no reference number, just "call me". My adjuster always return my call within 1-2 hours, which I thought is very efficient.
The appraiser is scheduled to visit the shop of my choice 2 days later. Unfortunately, the appraiser could not give an estimate because there might be hidden damage under the bumper cover and will need to examine my car again 2 days later. I consider myself lucky that the appraiser approved new OEM parts (or maybe the shop did a great job convincing the appraiser to use OEM). 2 days later, I received a follow up email from my adjuster regarding what the estimate is and it's approved, it should take another 2-3 days. Got my car back on time and everything looks perfect.
Thought the entire process was smooth and definitely easier and faster than what I expected, didn't need to negotiate with the adjuster for OEM nor a rental. (My adjuster offered to arrange a rental but I think it will be easier to get it from the bodyshop since they have rental company on site). Was unfortunate that I got rear-ended but was fortunate that I had a responsible adjuster and appraiser to make the entire process stress-free.
I've been through 2 not-at-fault claims with Desjardins and I have had no issued. They paid for a rental the next day and told me where to go to get my car fixed. Service was easy and quick. I have been with Desjardins for 7 years.
I don't know what all of the reviews here are complaining about. You blame provincial legislation roadblocks on the insurance company!
This will happen with EVERY INSURANCE COMPANY! So learn how insurance works before blaming good companies for your own ignorance
YES, if you tell them you had an accident they will raise your rates (even if they don't pay anything)
YES, if you don't get the other driver's information you're responsible for your own claim!
NO, you will not get your windshield replaced without a deductible.
