Charge WAY too much

I've had Desjardins in the past and ended up switching to another company because they were just way too expensive. I got State Farm originally, but they ended up getting bought out by Desjardins which was Certas and was forced to be stuck with them again. Honestly, they are the way to expensive. All I kept getting was increases and higher rates and a bunch of non-at-fault incidents that were documented on my record and is creating so many unnecessary discrepancies. After 2 years I've finally switched companies saving 46$ a month. It was the best decision!
I should have switched insurance companies when Desjardin took over for State Farm. They over-billed me for several years and told me nothing about a cancellation fee. I would rather walk than insure another vehicle with these criminals.
If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.
They increased my insurance by 60$ per month and didn't bother to let me know about that more than by mail. Unfortunately, I got this letter late and didn't cancel on time. I got a much better offer in a different company and I called my agent to ask about the penalty charge. She told me that it is going to be a 90% penalty charge and I based my decision on this information. What actually happened? well, they charged me 152%!!! When I called about that, she told me that they don't know the penalty charge amount in advance, although she told me 90%! She changed her answer every time and on most of my questions, the answer was "I don't know", she was very unprofessional and I still haven't got my money back! Agents are unprofessional and won't help you with anything! They just want to take your money, they don't even care that there is a global pandemic going on and they will still charge you an extreme amount of penalty! Don't rely on them!
The first year our insurance was $170.00 The following year it went up to 194.00 (for no reason – we had no traffic violations, a decent (2018 - so at this point a one-year-old) car. Our new quote is now $287.00. No claims have been made, nothing has happened. No tickets, no accidents, nothing. This is insane.

I was being grossly overcharged for insurance that I never made a claim with but for some reason kept increasing instead of decreasing every year. I found a company that is now charging me less than half of what Desjardins was. I cancelled my Desjardins policy and they are now charging me a whopping 18% of what was left of my yearly premium as a cancellation fee. The office claimed that the insurance agent is entitled to charge this "short rate" fee whenever you cancel a policy early, fine, I expected to pay a cancellation fee, but the amount I was charged is ludicrous. I will never purchase insurance from this company again.
