Plenty of insurance on paper : no money to back it up.

by Tomp on Feb 29, 2024
1 out of 5 stars

Have replacement cost homeowners insurance with no depreciation. Had lightening strike with attic fire and extensive water damage from fire department. Allstate is offering me less than half of what it will cost to put the home back to pre-fire condition. I have dwelling insured for 3 times the amount they are offering. We are now 6 months post incident and adjuster is not willing to budge.

Renewal policy

The worst insurance company I have ever dealt with in my life, extremely unprofessional. I gave them enough notice not to renew my home insurance. They are asking for 3 months premium after I informed them already not to renew.

Terrible

Awful service, no service at all once I paid my premium in full. The agent ‘helped’ me with the initial policy inputted all my info wrongly and I found out on my closing day. This could leave me a lawsuit on my closing. I had to call again after holding on the line for over 1 hour to get a new policy after speaking to 2 agents. Again I paid in full and wait for my refund from the first policy (cancelled). But since then, I never got the cheque and I had to call again, waited for another 1 hour and had to repeat everything again. Now I found out the cheque was mailed to the wrong address. Guys, stay away from Allstates, otherwise, it’s gonna be trouble after trouble.

Keep billing after I no long have the home

by HiD on Mar 27, 2022
1 out of 5 stars

It has been 4 months since I owned the home they are billing me for (insurance). I informed them prior to the move. Called, emailed, begged… etc. But no one will remove/stop billing me. I even gave them a copy of the sale. The agent Luz (Adriana) in Etobicoke never returns calls or emails. The 1-800 is useless. Tell me now that time has passed they need other authorization to refund but the supervisor never calls me back. RUN FROM ALLSTATE

Very Poor Customer Service

by Joanne on Nov 12, 2021

We paid the premium by mail and they said they didn't receive the cheque however they did receive the cheque. I was then made to pay their bill by cc and they proceeded to cash the cheque even though there was a huge note on my file to tear up the cheque. It is now almost one month later and I still have not received my money back. This was almost 4 thousand dollars so it is a big deal and they are unaccountable for their error and do not even respond to telephone and e-mail. Very frustrated and will be shopping for insurance elsewhere for sure. DO NOT RECOMMEND

Reprehensible

Cancelled our homeowner's insurance due to renovation on the home, which we were upfront about. Has not provided us with any information on what is required in order for us to get the insurance coverage reinstated. We have been asking the same questions for almost two months, and still don’t have answers. Don’t use these guys if you plan on doing any form of work on your house, or you will end up with no insurance coverage at all.

They did not cover the windows, the floors. They only covered the damage that they had caused by destroying the walls. It is a very bad insurance company. Stay away!!!

Very difficult to reach out

by Rashedul on Dec 30, 2020
2.5 out of 5 stars

I am an existing customer and I need to reach out to TD Insurance for a policy update. I am calling every day and waiting for two hours but no one receives the call and then I am disconnecting the call as I have other things to do. Very poor customer service.

What a farce

by ByebyeTD on Nov 25, 2020

I have tried for a couple of days now to reach TD Insurance to upgrade from a renter's insurance to a homeowner's insurance. Every day, after being on hold for about 4h (!!!) yes, 4h on hold (!!!), the call drops. Really?? Today I had enough, I called 3 competitors. Guess what? 0 wait time, they picked right away!! I was amazed...although I guess this is simply good service, I'm no longer used to this with TD. Interestingly, one was the insurance company of another leading bank and when I said that I had insurance presently, but that I had trouble just to reach their customer service, the rep said without hesitation, with a smile in the voice: ''Oh you're with TD? Yeah, we gets tons of customers looking to switch from them''. Wow, just wow... As of now, I'm no longer a customer thank you very much.
