I paid my full policy. Started getting past due notices. Then realized they refunded my credit card payment. My broker was old and clueless. I could never get through to Economical. I was concerned I wasn't actually insured since they refunded my credit card. 30 minute wait times. I switched to TD on my home. Then got an aggressive email - we've sent you to collection notice for $150. Can't get through. This company is the worst. Totally useless operation. DO NOT USE.
I had been with Heinsoo Insurance for almost 26 years. About a year ago Heinsoo switched us to Economical because our rates were getting too high. When my husband changed banks, and forgot he had an automated payment with Economical. We received a call one day to tell us there was a problem and a registered letter (dated the same day as the phone call) cametoour door the next cancelling our insurance. They dealt with the problem as bullies. Well thanks Economical because I found insurance for half the price.
We needed an answer to a question quickly. The adjuster would not respond to our calls and emails so we went to the office to ask our question. We were told that our adjuster was not available and there was no one available to speak to us. Really? My husband was escorted out of their office when he insisted on speaking to a manager. The security guard told us that Economical escorts people out of their office every day because customers are so upset and frustrated with the way they do business.
Some insurance companies try to help their customers when an unexpected and unavoidable issue strikes. Apparently not Economical. The Economical adjuster was so focused on finding excluded Perils she seemed happy she could claim it was caused by wear and tear. Except it wasn't wear-and-tear of something I own or have any control of. They did nothing to help or even provide advice. Definitively, the worst insurance company I have ever dealt with. Buyer beware you think you have insurance I found out the hard way.
I didn't get my policy from them because they mailed it to the wrong address. It took two months to get a payment rate from them and then when I made the payment, they had already cancelled my policy. Still took half the payment I did make, then supposedly mailed me a check, which I have no assurance I will get because they never corrected the address! Can't be bothered to make a single phone call to their customers, completely reliant on mail and blame the customer when the mail doesn't go through. Don't do business with them.
I might as well not have had insurance. Every dollar to pay our claim has been a fight. If you ever have a claim while insured with Economical Insurance be prepared to do battle to recover your interests.
I would not recommend them to anyone.
They should change the name for economical insurance to CHEAPSKATE'S or TIGHTWAD'S . that is what they are like to deal with.
I had a window that started leaking back in May 2017, they sent a G.C. out he never even got a ladder out of his truck.... Flat out told me he knows nothing about windows and will subcontract this out... Said I had wood rot which I don't, I know a little about building and wood rot.... So I asked them to send out a window guy.... It's now the end of August 2017 and no one has been out to look, I have had no one follow up.... Except for my personal broker... This company is a joke... Unprofessional and just ridiculous to deal with. I have the correct coverage and even my broker had said I have the right coverage for this...
I have had insurance with this company for 8 years. This winter my roof sustained damage after unprecedented snow fall in March. Long story short, I made a claim and have been getting the run around ever since. It's been 2 months and the only thing they did was take the tarps off my roof. The adjuster is conveniently away and/or needing more photos every time I call. What a nightmare.
Dealing with them now for a claim - we had a plumber, house inspector and structural engineer come in and say that the water damage was from a sump pump failure. Without sending any professionals themselves, they rejected the claim saying that it was a weeping tile issue. I mentioned that I was going to escalate the issue to the ombudsman, the manager from economical said "just get a lawyer" - it seems as if they are counting on us not pursuing this claim because of steep lawyer fees. Sump pump failure is covered by our premiums, but they are trying their best to avoid paying. We buy insurance for when the unexpected occurs - well with this company you can count on bad customer service, aggressive assessors, condescending team leads, and just an awful experience.

This company cancelled our home insurance over the Christmas holidays. The reason - after being a client who pays on time for over a year, we were away and missed a payment date by 3 business days. They cancelled our home insurance without notice. We only found out after the fact - 4 days afterwards via our broker. Good thing nothing happened to our house over that time. When we called them to rectify the situation, we were abruptly told that our insurance could not be re-activated. For an industry predicated on customer service, it is unbelievable how little they care about customers. They are cheaper for a reason. Buyer beware, stay away! Don't risk your house. 4 days without house insurance is stressful. Stay away!
