Fire damage in Ottawa

Aviva sales person used any excuses to deny online quote. Very poor and unprofessional service...
We have been swapped over automatically to Aviva as customers of RBC insurance over the past year. We tried to get our bicycles added as an extra insured item. We started the process last September (it's now January) and still no action. First they only keep eastern hours, so getting ahold of them from the west is a nightmare. Then they don't know what they actually need or want from us. They asked us for our bike receipts and photos, which we gladly sent, thinking that we'd be done. Then after a few weeks they called again asking for a letter from us stating that we had no previous claims or liabilities on the bikes. Ok, no problem though it would have been easier to send this in the first place with everything else. Then we heard nothing for 2 months and thought our bikes were covered until they told us they lost our file and called to find out if we actually wanted to get our bikes covered (um, yes?) and why we were applying to have our bikes insured when they're already covered in the plan (our bikes are worth about $1,000 apiece and our deductible is $1,000). So we had to go through it all over again with them. Then they said they couldn't process the claim without a senior advisor who wasn't in that day and they would call us on Monday. Here it is a week later with no phone call and no amendment to our plan. Absolutely incompetent and a waste of time.
My townhouse got water damage due to a leak in the outer wall, aviva refused to pay just to fix the floor, our condo mgmt company took responsibility for the rest of the damage. I should note, our neighbour had the same issue, he had no problem with his insurance company. It was a struggle even to get someone out to look at the problem (several weeks and many phone calls and emails). Even the contractor and broker are baffled that they refuse to pay. It's been a frustrating experience overall, I feel like there is no recourse to challenge them at all. I wish I had never signed on with them.
I have a claim going for leak damage, still going 1 year latter . Im sure the only way this will be paid out is through a lawyer. These people are the worst.
Had a leak into condos below. [ AVIVA ]They would not even come and look, said the condos insurance should pay. Condos ins was aviva also, still fighting with them a year later . Had to get lawyer , lots of fun. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY . This is not just them our goverment is to blame also , they do nothing to protect us from these insurance companies.
I live in the Winnipeg area and was pleasantly surprised by the rate for tenant insurance. I went through RBC insurance (apparently they have merged) and they were at least $100.00 cheaper than their competitor, Intact. Hopefully never have to use it. Also they have CHEAP sewer backup coverage. Definitely ask your sales rep about it.
I recently had a house flood. My rep Angela was AMAZING!!! She answers every single text/call/email within a couple hours. No matter how busy she was she always was patient and kind to me. No matter what my request she was reasonable and agreeable.
All receipts were reimbursed immediately and I received a cheque within days.
My one and only complaint was the company that did my reno's ( refereed by Aviva). The company was overloaded with work, they passed it on to a smaller company and although in the end all work was done nicely it took a long time and a lot of hiccups.
My Aviva rep was supportive and kind the entire time
Lubnow restoration is a preferred company with Aviva for my area...being london ontario and I was extremely unhappy with the entire experience. The project manager that was assigned to assist with the flood that ocured in my basement is named Lisa K. After first meeting her and her tear, I called her up to touch base and when the conversation ended and before we had hung up, I overheard her speaking with someone, making fun of my accent and that apparently, 'I wasn't very bright'. I decided to ignore this as I wanted my home restored as soon as possible, I then had two bad experiences with the accounts Manger the office. Her name is Terra C. and she was very rude to me on the phone and even discussed with me her personal dislike for the project manager which I thought was very unprofessional. I spoke with the receptionist soon after this and told her my concerns. She expressed that those two individuals can be very negative and to not let it get to me, that the service provided to me would be over soon and to use a different company on the repair. Thankfully, I was able to take a cash settlement so I didn't have to see that woman again. Spoke with a few others that I have located on Facebook that were not happy with the company either and that they hope Aviva chooses a different company to prefer.
First time home owner and aviva was recommended by our realtor they came up with a huge list of things they wanted done and gave a ridiculous time frame to have it completed. When we couldn't get it done on time they said we would have to be listed under high risk (so increased premiums for years)and theres no other option. I cancelled with aviva because I found a cheaper rate, same coverage and no upgrades were required. They continued to take the high risk payment out of my account after cancelling saying I never cancelled and were extremely rude even before I cancelled. I can't imagine dealing with them if I had actually had a claim. Worst customer service ever!

My house caught fire in February 2016 and we just moved back in over one year later in March. It is a large house just under 4000sq ft. The majority of the house was completely gutted but key areas were not, including the master bedroom and bath and a couple other areas. The insurance adjustor, Geoff, gave low ball and unfair budgets throughout the process. The insurance company refused to gut the remaining portion of the house and now after only living in the house for a few days we are suffering through flooding damage due to plumbing issues. The insurance adjustor has extremely poor communication with me but I'm sure this is part of his strategy. The cabinet maker Sandy Beach cabinetry installed warped cabinets and in their attempt to rectify the defectives cabinet draws keep reinstalling the same warped drawers. In addition, the values given to our contents are completely inaccurate. For example, the list will correctly identify an item but will assign an extremely low and inaccurate value. These are just some of the issues we've faced and the process is not over yet.
