2 hour hold times to get 0 help or assistance. Unwilling to work with customers. Had two payments bounce in 6 years due to a change in job and cancer surgery. paid as soon as we could maybe 2 weeks late... told we can't ever make a mistake again after one issue... was 20 dollars short in account one more time notices less than 24 hours called and explained the money were there slight mistake nope requiring a full payout of entire years term going forward joke I'd rather pay a 50 dollar fee it is not like we just didn't pay... they have received all their money. Been with another insurer for 12 plus years no issue home insurance 6 years one small bump in our life and they screw your entire reputation. Don't insure with RBC! They don't care about you at all.
My RBC credit card was cloned and cancelled, so payment to RBC insurance didn't go through. Their response was to cancel my policy because I didn't call RBC insurance to tell them my new RBC credit card. After hours of pleading, they reinstated my policy with the stipulation I pay the full amount upfront. Thousands of dollars later the policy is back in force and upon receiving a renewal letter, I can go back to monthly payments.
I didn't receive any renewal letter and they tried to take out a significantly higher payment than I authorized. It didn't go through so they cancelled my policy and refuse to reinstate it. How do you pay a bill that you didn't get!? Because my policy was cancelled, other insurers are not willing to insure me.
I'm on hold trying to speak with someone and am literally told it'll be 2+ hours on hold before I can speak with someone, while my policy expires in two days.
I want to give this company negative stars. DO NOT DO ANY BUSINESS WITH THEM!!!
You will need to pay first and last and then charge twice for the last month. Separate agents will contradict the policy. The ones setting up the account will quote different amounts. If cancellation is required you will be charged a 2X+ cancellation fee. Do not use this company for insurance! Their customer "service" is some of the worst I've ever experienced.
I had no idea that my home insurance renewed. Explained the situation as that is not what is on everyone's mind during COVID19. She didn't understand that I would happily pay a monthly but, I can't afford to pay the whole year. She told me I will be charged cancellation fee 3 days after policy renewal with the Easter holidays too, and she needed underwriter authority to credit me back the fee?!!
I have had a horrible time with Aviva home and auto insurance.
They didn't explain about policy cancellations fee the kept hidden and the charges me unfairly. I wouldn't recommend this service to anyone.
Canadians pay, on average, approximately $20 per month in tenants insurance. Do you rent or plan to rent a property and want to reduce insurance costs? We will help you get a cheap tenant insurance quote today.
When RBC Insurance (Aviva General Insurance) sent a general notice that they were raising rates in the area by 14%, my wife and I said fine. We would take it in stride and deal with it, we'd been with them for quite a while, after all. What they didn't bother to tell us was that our credit card on file had expired. Fast forward a month and a half or so (Aug 27th), my wife contacts them to confirm the new rate and finds out the issue. No problem, we update them with a new card, the new payment will be taken, and things will be fine. She gets assurance from the agent on the phone that no NSF fees would be charged, and everything will be fine. Today at 4 pm on Friday, we get a buzz from the mail person saying he has a registered letter that needs signing. Huh? Wasn't expecting anything today... Well, you guessed it, it's from Aviva/RBC insurance, and it's a notice dated Aug 29th that our insurance has been cancelled due to non-payment, and we only have coverage until Sep 16. We now owe an additional $127 and have to pay a $25 NSF Charge. Perplexed, I call the number printed on the top of the letter: 1-800-769-2526, and I get an automated voice offering me a chance for a free cruise for doing a questionaire. I promptly hang up and get the correct number off their website: 1-800-387-4518. Anyway, the agent does the standard security questions, everything is fine, and then informs me that because they had two failed payments, one in July and one in August, our policy automatically moved into cancellation and we have to pay for the remaining two weeks up to Sep 16 and the NSF charge. I ask how to fix the problem, and the only solution is to get reassessed and start a new policy, but we may not get the same rate anymore... I asked why we hadn't been informed sooner and she had no answer. At that point I'd had enough. I'm left to concluded they wanted the payments to fail on purpose so they could reassess us at another rate entirely, not just the 14% increase. They had our contact information all along as evidenced by the rate increase notice, but instead opted to lie by ommission. Really, I think we have to take some responsiblity for dealing with them over the phone, rather than by email where we could have a written record of everything, but no one really expects this kind of behaviour until it happens to them. Do not trust RBC Insurance/Aviva. This is a very greasy company. There are plenty of stories online of their practices against their clients and even their own employees. I guess I should count ourselves lucky we're out of it before something bad acutally happened. RBC Bank proper needs to step in and do something since it's their name getting dragged through the mud.
They doubled my premium for no reason, I was paying $ 53.00 and now I have to pay $ 117.00 a month for my home insurance, I am with RBC for more than 20 years and I am seriously thinking of changing insurance company. They have no respect for their loyal customer.
We bought a new home in 2013 and insurance did not come to the new house. We were still paying insurance on the property we no longer own. Worse yet, we did not have insurance on our new home! We only happened to realize this in an unrelated call, their response: 1)my fault for not notifying RBC of the property change (with a mortgage at RBC on both properties) 2)not giving you any of your money back on 5 years of charges to insure a house you don't own (zero responsibility of RBC) 3)we cannot insure your new home because you haven't been insured on it in 5 years months of back and forth, hours on hold and when we finally decide to cancel the kicker 4)your car insurance rate will be going up because you are cancelling your home insurance! I guess my only move is to point this out before I move all of my business away from RBC.
RBC AVIVA PARTNERSHIP - BAD MOVE. I have been with RBC for almost 30 years, I have 3 houses & 4 vehicles insured through RBC, so I am speaking from experience. Up until RBC changed from being an insurance company to being an agent & using Aviva Canada, the service provided to me by RBC was second to none. Since Aviva took over I had two no-fault car accidents in quick succession.1. Delay on my car being fixed due to the adjuster going on vacation & 2. giving my chiropractor grief over reports that they had lost & denial of treatment until finding out Aviva was in the wrong. Whenever I spoke with the Aviva adjuster she was very condescending & I made a complaint on this matter but heard no more on the matter. YOU WOULD THINK THAT WAS BAD ENOUGH BUT THE BOMBSHELL!!! In June of 2017, my neighbour had to have their water mains supply line repaired. The local city engineer, who was dealing with the repair, advised me to check to see that I had insurance coverage for this type of repair. I called RBC insurance on this matter. I was told that I did not have coverage & they could not give me coverage. No further advice was given. In April 2018 my insurance was renewed. In October 2018 I received a notice from the city water services that I had 14 days to have my water mains supply line repaired as it was leaking. If I did not complete the repair within the specified 14 days, my water would be turned off. I immediately called RBC insurance to see if I was covered for this repair, giving them in great detail, also explaining the urgency of the repair. I was advised that they would send an adjuster around to deal with the repair. The following day a regular plumber came, who was unable not help me with my repair, in fact, I had to explain the problem to him. He told me his boss would get back to me. To cut a long story short I had no further calls from Aviva about helping me with my repair. I ended up having to arrange for the repair to be done at a cost to me of $10,000. Eventually, I was told by Aviva that my claim was denied even though they had sent around the wrong trades. How is this possible to make a true assessment without knowing exactly what was wrong? I decided to contact RBC insurance to help me with my concerns about not getting support with my repair, even though I had specifically asked about coverage back in June 2017. They told me that yes, I do not have coverage but if I wanted coverage for any further such repair, they could now give me coverage??? I asked them, why did they not give me coverage back in June of 2017 when I specifically asked for coverage or when it came available. I asked for my claim to be appealed based on this fact that they record all phone calls and my call could be verified. After many calls & a lot of time on my behalf, they told me that they could not help me further with this claim. RBC, you are supposed to support & advise the customer on the difficult minefield of insurance, which you do promote in your adverts. Why did you not take responsibility for first denying coverage & then being able to offer coverage to me when it was too late. Throughout my ordeal I was having to repeat myself, spend hours on the phone chasing support that was not forthcoming & was promised to get callbacks from Aviva, nobody taking accountability for empty promises. If this is what you call service, I feel you give me no option to find the service that you used to give me.
I pay my insurance yearly. I pay by credit card and have added my card to my account. For the second year in a row, they have failed to take the payment. I get surprised by a letter that says a payment needs to be made. I go online because there is a 3-hour wait time on the phone. There is nowhere to pay, it says to add them to my online banking. Online banking says the account number isn't in the correct format. Yesterday I clicked for an automatic call back instead of waiting. I received a call back 5 hours later saying they were now closed. Do yourself a favor. Use anyone else.
