Do not use TD Insurance

by Leaving TD Insurance on Nov 19, 2017
1 out of 5 stars

Had a basement leak. They were fantastic to send somebody out that night to help get cleaned. Now the horrific truth!! The restoration company does nothing after the first night, leaves their equipment until convenient for them to pick it up, but charges you a daily rate. Meanwhile, TD mentioned nothing about any charge, which for us was almost $2,000. Three weeks later after doing nothing past the first night but charging you, we get a letter from TD Insurance that the damage is not covered and their file is closed. Don't understand how they came to this conclusion because they did nothing. We hired contractors on our own that are working on identifying the leak. TD Insurance nor their restoration company do anything to help figure out the problem - bad enough they are useless after the first night, worse that they kick you onto the streets on your own after they have happily taken our premium payments for 18 years, and never had any other claim. Best advice - don't use TD Insurance and find a company that is reliable and is not in the business of just money collecting, but rather provides a service for what you pay for!!

Worse company-- false promises

Our house was damaged due to fort Murray wild fire, and due to TD’s miscommunication, and unprofessional handling, we are still not in our house. Also they have not settled our additional living expenses yest. We are under a lot of mental and financial stress right now. Their adjusters have no clue how to fairly assess the customer claims.

TD CANADA MISTRUST

We are one of the Fort McMurray wildfire victim families. Because of TD’s miscommunication, and unprofessional handling, our family is under a lot of mental and financial stress right now. TD hired a group of Claim Adjusters from USA to mistreat and misbehave with us. Beware that when you need them the most they are "TD CANADA MISTRUST"

Worst Insurance

I had auto and home insurance for almost 15 years with TD, I had a project travel and left my one bank account unattended, so just 1 withdrawal failed, when I came back, they already canceled my policy, and I asked to resume, they said that will be new policy and charged 50% more! It's like a thief! I would change to Royal bank, even 2 times original money!!! Let alone Royal Bank is much much cheap then TD TMD

Incorrect charge prices

by Zahid Zekria on Mar 10, 2017
1 out of 5 stars

Called to modify my existing home insurance policy. I was given a quote and a grace period to shop around for a better premium. Shopped around and found it was best to stick with TD. Called back to accept the new premium and was told that the previous quote was incorrect, and was given a much more expensive price, which was not the cheapest I found. Was told that the grace period was over and that the new premium prices were going into effect. Asked what the cancellation fee before the next payment would be, was given a number. Changed insurance providers and when I called back to cancel they tried to charge me over 3 times as much.

Overall very frustrating to deal with and phone agents are either incompetent or are lying to you.

they took insurance fees for five years. when there was a claim they never fulfil the amount to the contractor who worked. there is a small amount they pay and let the owner pay from his pocket.

Worst Experience

by Td Client on Oct 31, 2015
1 out of 5 stars

We had a kitchen fire in Sep (the year before last) and they still didn't pay us the amount to start the work. We wait until for the estimates from their 2 preferred contractors. They brought a bias engineer who refuses to take smoke samples in cavities and assuring us that it is ok. They offered us 120000 to do the work. We hired our own engineer to take swabs in cavities and the results came back positive. We filled complaints but we had no response from them and we can't even get to TD ombudsman, they are not allowing us. Our estimates are over 300000$. We stay in rental since Oct and they did not pay any bills which are over 20000 and they only paid rental until the end of July. This is my wife group insurance through nurses union and now all her co-workers start to move from them. This is causing a lot of undue stress which affected all of us. I am decided to start a campaign online to inform their current and potential clients how bad this company is.

I hate this company

by Fed up with TD on Sep 22, 2015
1 out of 5 stars

When I bought my house 5 years ago I went with TD because the last owners were with them and the price seemed reasonable $90/month. Within 2 years they raised my premiums to almost $200/month and I have never filed a claim. I lost my job 2 years ago and was having a very difficult time making ends meet. I called all of my creditors and explained my situation and they were all willing to cut me some slack and give me a few extra days, including my mortgage lender. But not TD. I called to tell them that I would be ONE DAY LATE! and they told me that if I was ever late again that they would cancel my policy and I would be liable for the balance owed. Recently there was a leak in the roof and it took them a week to send an inspector. I was told that if the leak was due to the roof being in bad shape they would not cover it, but if it was due to shingles being blown off the roof they would cover the cost of the resulting damage, but not before I paid a $1000 deductible. They called me yesterday to tell me that they couldn't help me because according to the report there were no shingles missing, despite the fact that I pointed them out to the inspector!!!

Too expensive for sewer backup

by Unhappy on Jul 8, 2015
1.5 out of 5 stars

I got my insurance renewal, with $800 additional for sewer backup (and only up to $15000 with $2000 deductible. The ice damming coverage is $130 a year. Are you kidding me?

Also, a half duplex rental property for $342 per year, just for sewer backup?
