Incompetent

They suddenly increased my home insurance by 40% without reasonable explanation, I am 13 year loyal client, without any claim for so many years, the renewal notice showed their raise of premium for this year is 40% higher than last year. I called and questioned the agent, the agent was not able to give me a good explanation, and the attitude is really rude. I chose to cancel the policy with TD Insurance, recommend you to do the same thing too.
You cannot rely on this insurance company. They suddenly cancelled my home insurance showing some 100% false reason. It was a complete surprise to me and deserved a lawsuit. Never by any insurance from TD.
Canadians pay, on average, approximately $20 per month in tenants insurance. Do you rent or plan to rent a property and want to reduce insurance costs? We will help you get a cheap tenant insurance quote today.
They sent me a letter to tell me I owed payment for a new year to the wrong address, never emailed me, and canceled my insurance 15 days before I got the letter. Then blocked my online account so I could not pay it, and would not allow me to add my account as a payee. Disgusting. A simple email and allowing me to access the account to pay would have made life a lot easier. Look for another company that actually cares about you.
I had insurance with TD for over two years. My credit card company changed all credit card numbers. Instead of contacting me, they cancelled my home insurance. When I called and explained the situation to them they bluntly refused me.
Please don't buy insurance, you will have the worst nightmare in your life. I had insurance with them for 6 years and then when I moved to new property clearly stated to cancel the old one. They didn't cancel and kept charging me for my old property which I never owned. They asked me to send the documents, creating a hassle for the mistake which you didn't make. When I called they said they never received documents from you. Bunch of scammers trying to steal the money. I decided to move on to the next one. Please stay away from them.
Had to contact them for Home insurance. After they promise me something, it end up after 6 months that was a lie and I was asked to pay a cancellation fee or I have to transfer the policy to my new property from another province. The agent passed me back and forth from one agent to another and in the end, they open me another policy without closing the current policy for the property I sold. Very poor communication skills and customer service. I will never use them again. Lucky I had no claim, cause I don't know how they will handle that.
TD has been sending our mail to the wrong address and so we did not know it was renewed. Somehow they managed to get a past due bill to our correct address. I called to request they backdate the cancellation.
I had to sit on the phone for over an hour and a half and go through 3 separate agents before anyone would help me. The first agent refused to help, the second agent put us on hold for over 30 minutes. Third arranged manager call back.
Unfortunately, the manager, Bo, was the worst yet. He admitted they'd been sending our mail to the wrong address. He admitted the experience I had was inexcusable. When I asked how they managed to get a bill to the correct address, he had no answer. He admitted he had the ability to backdate the cancellation, but he refused to because he said it didn't warrant it, even if we never received any documents.
We've filed a complaint with the better business bureau. Avoid TD Insurance at all costs, especially the Halifax branch.
I purchased home insurance from TD prior to going overseas for a 2-year volunteer placement in Myanmar. I asked to pay the 2 years upfront and was told no problem for autorenewal. TD had my contact and my financial info. After the first year, my insurance was not renewed. I received no phone call or letter to Myanmar (understandable) but no email telling me to contact them, which is not right. When I returned, I was told to pay a penalty and they would reinstate insurance. I paid but then was told I had to wait a year for renewal because now I was a "bad risk". Trying to get insurance elsewhere now meant I would have to pay triple the normal amount as a bad risk. So I waited a year, contacted TD and they said they could not insure me because I had not had insurance for a year! I talked to numerous people at TD and none were willing to see what a ludicrous situation this had become. Thanks to TD my rates will be much higher than my previous impeccable payment record deserves.
They don't care about customers at all, they cancelled my policy without informing or attempting to know the reason. After chasing for 4 weeks I was told it has been declined and let's not mention the average wait time of 1.5 hours every time you call TD insurance.

Absolutely a waste of time and very rude. Explained the house insurance we had ended on the 17th of the month, and they set the new insurance with them to start on the 20th, leaving a 3-day gap. Once they realized they made an error they cancelled the insurance policy citing a breach of internal policy, never taking accountability for the mistake they made.
