Terrible TD home insurance

Beware if in western Canada. They assign you to a rep in Halifax. Time zone makes it difficult to connect. Incredibly poor service. They used the cheapest contractor who made things worse with their work. When I filed a complaint about the poor service they handed the complaint to the person who provided the poor service. She did not care at all. TDI does not care at all. I ended up using my own contractor to do rework.
I had not at fault accident and unfortunately, I have received no support from TD.
We are 4 months into our claim, big claim after complete house fire, and it has become a literal full time job. TD does not answer phone calls or emails even with "direct" lines to your supposed adjuster. Our current adjuster, there has been more than one, is located in Halifax and has never even seen our home yet is making huge decisions concerning it. We are fighting them 100% but this is NOT what we have been paying home insurance for more than 10 years for. Our rent is due today (TD is obligated to pay this as part of our coverage as our home is rebuilt) and they have yet to transfer the needed money. Do yourself a favour and learn from our mistake. DO not sign up with TD. When this claim is completed we will never, ever use TD again and have begun telling anyone we can about this despicable company.
I don’t even know where to start. Claims rep was horrible to the point of me requesting new rep. I was denied!! I requested my policy 3 times and had to make phone calls before I got it.
I used the companies preferred vendor( first on site) to do the work to avoid problems. Nothing but horrible workmanship from drug dependent workers. Work was supposed to take 2 weeks. 6 months later was only half completed and horrible to the point as I kicked them out of my house.
Ins company won’t pay to replace electronics that were damaged and won’t work. They sent electronics out to be tested and paid $100 to get a letter saying electronics are fine. So they won’t even budge saying everything works when it doesn’t.
I am now going thru an agency to go mediate compensation which is a no brainer obvious call. Even if they are the cheapest rates your throwing ur money away as you are simply not insured as they won’t pay on an everyday claim. Their goal is to say no and make u fight for it .
A one star is too much. If you need proof of this you can reach me at 6667chevelle@gmail.com and I will gladly send u pictures and videos.
If you’re calling to spend money they have dozens of people on the line to speak to. If you’re calling to submit a Claim they’re short staffed.
Canadians pay, on average, approximately $20 per month in tenants insurance. Do you rent or plan to rent a property and want to reduce insurance costs? We will help you get a cheap tenant insurance quote today.
Stay away, they will trouble you and keep procrastinating the payments. Telephone waits are excruciatingly long.
Please don't waste your money on this home insurance company. They take your money and when you file for a claim, they will be your worst nightmare. They won't help at all. Their goal is to try whatever fraudulent way to not help and they certainly will not update you. Leave you waiting for months. I had excellent service with other insurance and I will go back to them.
I did not have automatic renewal on my policy because I chose a yearly payment.
I could not connect to renew my policy.
I attempted to call the number on the website and on the correspondence I received regarding my renewal but was not able to speak with an agent.
I did this at least twice a week for several weeks.
I attempted to pay online except that I did not have a security code that was apparently required, which I had never received.
I attempted to chat, but not available.
I then purchased a policy with a different provider as I had received correspondence from TD that my policy was cancelled. The other insurer was about $200 per year less for what was actually better coverage.
When I was finally able to connect with an agent, I was told I needed to pay for the first month and a penalty because I had not yet cancelled the policy, the one that TD sent letters to me about cancelling. The amount that TD asked for is also prorated, equivalent to more than a month's premium even though I do not want the policy and had other coverage in place, only because I did not have access to pay. If ever had a question about my coverage or to add coverage, I would not likely be able to contact anyone at TD.
Can't go into a TD Bank and talk to a representative. Online doesn't always work. I can't get proper statements or withheld documents of payments... Horrible experience!

I wish I could give negative feedback. Terrible service. After 20 years in TD insurance, first claim, 2 months no response. Called adjuster, emailed adjuster. No response from TD insurance! Terrible!!!
