Don't Buy TD!

First, they said insurance was less, then, two weeks later it’s higher.
They let us move a payment date up but did not mention they would take a double payment out.
When we said we will go elsewhere their response was - "That’s your choice...."
We have everything with TD.
Super disappointed and thinking about moving everything over to another bank.
Worse customer ever!
I purchased home insurance from TD prior to going overseas for a 2-year volunteer placement in Myanmar. I asked to pay the 2 years upfront and was told no problem for autorenewal. TD had my contact and my financial info. After the first year, my insurance was not renewed. I received no phone call or letter to Myanmar (understandable) but no email telling me to contact them, which is not right. When I returned, I was told to pay a penalty and they would reinstate insurance. I paid but then was told I had to wait a year for renewal because now I was a "bad risk". Trying to get insurance elsewhere now meant I would have to pay triple the normal amount as a bad risk. So I waited a year, contacted TD and they said they could not insure me because I had not had insurance for a year! I talked to numerous people at TD and none were willing to see what a ludicrous situation this had become. Thanks to TD my rates will be much higher than my previous impeccable payment record deserves.
Canadians pay, on average, approximately $20 per month in tenants insurance. Do you rent or plan to rent a property and want to reduce insurance costs? We will help you get a cheap tenant insurance quote today.
I recently purchased home insurance and paid the annual amount in full. About a month later I received a phone call saying that I had an outstanding balance. The person that called couldn’t provide any details so I had to call TD. After numerous attempts to reach someone (dropped calls due to their poor phone connection, waiting on hold for over an hour each time I called) I was finally able to speak to someone. They gave me a reason as to why I had a balance that didn’t make sense. Long story short, each time I spoke to someone regarding the balance I got a different story as to why I still owed them money. On top of that, they were charging me interest on the outstanding amount. TD has been my insurance provider for years, but I no longer trust their practices

We have to pay late fees when TD is at Fault! We tried to call for weeks and we had to wait for weeks not knowing if our policy is renewed and then when they finally call, they were rude and condescending and totally take no responsibility for their actions and simply blame the whole incident conveniently on Covid-19, this is totally deplorable that TD would use that as an excuse for their mess and poor service, in face TD poor service proceeds the pandemic!
