TD insurance / Primmum tried to increase my premium by 33% the second year...

by West Vancouver resident on Apr 4, 2024
1 out of 5 stars

This pathetic company lured me in with a "reasonable" premium (3000 CAD) for the first year, then, in spite of being claim-free for several years, offered to renew with a premium of 4000 CAD... Their explanation was that this increase was a general trend over the province. I checked and found out that actually the average increrase was about 7-8%. So I shopped around and found a better policy for 3100CAD.
Don't waste your time with these clowns...

They increase your premium by 40% without a good reason, BTW, no claim history for 13 years

They suddenly increased my home insurance by 40% without reasonable explanation, I am 13 year loyal client, without any claim for so many years, the renewal notice showed their raise of premium for this year is 40% higher than last year. I called and questioned the agent, the agent was not able to give me a good explanation, and the attitude is really rude. I chose to cancel the policy with TD Insurance, recommend you to do the same thing too.

TD plays hardball post sign up

by Disappointed Customer on Mar 12, 2021
1 out of 5 stars

Poor customer service and very poor risk assessment practice. I made substantial improvements to my home reducing risk profile and increasing safety but TD doesn't want to lower my premiums. During signup, they said premiums will be lower after upgrades but the reality is completely different!

Doubled the quoted rate

Conned me into signing up, a few months later almost doubled my home rate

Been an Auto member for over 2 years now. Decided to ask for an updated house policy this time at renewal. They gave me a very competitive rate which overall matched what I was paying elsewhere. A few months in they decided to do a house inspection and then took another few months after that. Then decided I need to pay almost twice what they originally quoted! I have to switch back at huge change in premium, I'm now out about $500 - $800 due to this. Do not use TD home insurance or trust the rate they give you!
