Big Time Fail!

by Peeter on Jul 8, 2020
1 out of 5 stars

I got service is overwhelmed, not ready to handle hail and storm damages on 13 June in NE Calgary. Fully unprepared. No communication no coordination! Slow and slow... Why are you not ready? The answer is oh there are large amounts of claims and we can't help! Wish I have a different provider!

You are not in good hands!

I had a fire claim almost 3 years ago... the lack of documentation has put my home nowhere to where it was before. The lack of skilled trades has created more damage to my home and the work has created further grief for myself and my family. The adjuster lies to you making promises that are never fulfilled. They cheap out jobs go to the lowest bidder and it shows. 20 years making my home beautiful, 1 insurance company to destroy it... worse than the fire. Pay the higher premium... at least you're insured with a piece of mind.

Say no to Desjardin

by Suanne on Feb 17, 2020
1 out of 5 stars

Do not get insurance through Desjardin! (The Personel). We had a protein fire in October and they have taken forever to do anything. 54 days+ with no work being done in our home. They have tried to make us move back in by refusing to continue to pay for our hotel expenses. Been staying in a hotel for 4+months. We have respiratory health concerns among others. This is no way to treat your clients. If you are currently with Desjardin... call for quotes and get out. If you are not, do yourself a favour and run!

Increase of condo's premium

by PK on Feb 1, 2020
1 out of 5 stars

Today I received a yearly contract from Desjardins for renewing my condo's insurance for the next year starting from 21st March 2020 and to my shock and disbelief, I noticed that they have increased my rented condo's premium by $60. I called the customer service number and spoke with a woman who said her name was Sandra. From the outset, she was aggressive and defiant and couldn't give me a satisfactory reply to a decrease in the policy amount and increase in the premium. Especially when I have not filed any claim in the previous year. The reason for the decrease in policy amount and increase in premium given by her didn't make any sense. She said since Desjardins are receiving claims from other people that's why they have decreased my policy amount and increased my condo's premium. I told her that it doesn't make any sense to which she said that she has two houses and three cars and she also has to pay more premiums. Again, this example was not necessary to bring home my complaint. In the end, she said if I'm not happy, I'm free to shop around because she can't do anything about the increased premium amount. This proves that Desjardins customer care people are not only aggressive and defiant but also are impolite with their customers. Very bad customer service.

Didn't receive 1 call

by Cancelled on Jan 25, 2020
1 out of 5 stars

I can only assume any good reviews about Desjardin on this site are a hoax. Desjardin contracts out claims investigation to an independent adjuster. Their sole purpose is to deny your claim. Denying claims is how they are favoured in the industry. I had no contact with Desjardin and no help from the policy issuer. The adjuster shows up immediately while you are upset. Their intent is to record your statement to find anything they can use to deny your claim. It doesn't matter that your claim is legitimate. Anything you say is for the purpose to deny or reduce your claim. They are not your friends and are certainly not there to help you. Look at all the tactics insurance adjusters use to deny or delay your claim.

RRSP withdrawal

by Frank on Oct 23, 2019
1.5 out of 5 stars

I had arranged to withdrawal some of my RRSPs & was told it would be deposited in my account in two to three working days. After a week I called to find out where my money was & was told they made an error. A week later I received a call saying my money would be in my account the next day or the day after for sure. Well, that was a week ago & I still do not have MY money. Don't know when or if I will ever see my money. Terrible company to deal with. Stay away from them!

Worst company, careless

by LS on Aug 30, 2019
1 out of 5 stars

My house got hit by the lightning on July 16 and the adjuster is absolutely useless. The file was transferred to contractors who hired subcontractors. They came, took pictures and everyone is throwing the ball to the other. I have at least 10 appliances that are damaged and the roof and from July 16 until today, August 30, nothing was done. When I call, I'm told the adjuster is on holidays and when I ask to talk to a manager, I'm told that it is not possible and I'll be called within 24 to 48 hours which never happens. A bunch of liers and unprofessional. When it comes to get your money they are great but when it comes to repair your stuff, they disappear and hide. The worst company, cancel your contract with them right away, they don't care about customers, claims...

Shady and Irresponsible

by A.L. on Jun 12, 2019
1.5 out of 5 stars

Have been charged twice within 1 month after my 1 year Insurance expired. I moved out of the city, so had no need to renew it. First time got charged 34$, the bank declined for no funds, and of course I got charged overdraft. I called immediately to clarify the issue, and the assistant told me I will be called back during the week from agent office. No one ever called. Then Desjardins charged me again 69$ a week later. I called again to the office asking why am I being charged. The assistant X (she never managed to pronounce her name clearly) on the phone tells me it is the law them to charge after the contract expires. No one ever took care from Desjardins to explain me of such law where they can still charge me even though on the contract is stated that I agreed for 1 year of preauthorized withdrawals. After being told several more times that I'll be called back on the issue, and never have the call returned, I kept calling myself until they presented me with their explanation, and that they will only refund me 26$ and agreed to cancel my contract. Customer Service experience : They keep talking, never give me a chance to speak, and when I speak they interrupt me. I have a very bad after taste. Will never book any insurance with Desjardins again. Strongly recommend everyone to stay away from them and find another company that has better communication with their customers.

Horrible customer service...

by Nothanks on Mar 6, 2019
1 out of 5 stars

Had little water damage in one section of my basement caused by a "recalled" toilet that came with my new house. It took Desjardins well over a month before anyone came to inspect and 3 months before repairs...and this was a small insurance claim. The adjuster was rude over the phone, she tried to be humorous but was more sarcastic than helpful. Tried to nickel and dime repairs that were imminent caused by this faulty manufactured toilet. Had never filed a house claim in 34 years. Had to contact her Director for fairness. Filed one car insurance claim "for my brand new car" that a neighbour's daughter backed into when she neglected to look when backing out of her laneway - new driver. Desjardins tried to nickel and dime that claim as well. An insurance adjuster was rude, sarcastic, and had a laissez-faire attitude. Some of their bank tellers are unwelcoming at times. Time to drop Desjardins! Stay away.

Switching company fast

My home insurance went up $350 a year. I never had a claim. I have been with them for 7 years now. I will not renew and I brought them a huge customer base through me recommending them. Now you increasing my rates more than $30 a month. I called them and they said it's the best rate they can give me. I said I'll take my business somewhere else. They didn't care. I will not recommend them anymore and I will recommend to everyone I have in the past who went with them to go elsewhere as well as they will not care if you leave when they raise your rates that high for no reason. It's a shame because I'm a 10-star driver with them as well and when the policy comes up for renewal. I'll be switching auto insurance as well before they raise those rates through the roof. Never had a claim or even a driving offence either. I'm a model customer who now gets the shaft from Desjardins Insurance. Bravo! Do not get insurance with this company. They offer low rates to hook you in and then try to get their moneys worth out of ya at the end and since they got years of money out of ya, they won't care if you leave. Thank you for nothing!
