Intact Insurance

by Norma T on Oct 11, 2019
1 out of 5 stars

Intact classified me as a high risk because I had 2 no-fault claims in one year... one claim was over a deer running out in front of me and the other was for hail damage a month or 2 later... like I had any control of this... they left me high and dry with no insurance on my Motorhome... I'm not impressed, I was with Intact giving them $10,000 to $12,000 a year for insurance for many many years... and I've never had an accident only no-fault... I don't understand how this is allowed.

Repair

by Toyota Tundra on Sep 22, 2019
1 out of 5 stars

I have an accident 06-2017 when my car was parked. I was sent to Intact body shop and got a bad repair on top (09-2019). It is not repaired and my car is destroyed. Now they want to repair without an estimate. But in the end, we will meet in court!

all they want is money

by angry customer on Sep 16, 2019
1 out of 5 stars

On June 13 my Toyota van was rear-ended while I was stopped at a red light. My Intact experience began with their representative over valuing my vehicle by sending me ads from out of town dealers showing asking prices when I sent sale prices to him from my local Toyota dealer he refused to budge on the decision to deem it a right off. The body shop that I was sent to had my van for 74 days when they called and said it was finished. Upon inspection I noticed several defects and refused to take it back, a few days later the shop called again, upon the second inspection I noticed there was a small dent in the rear door which had been replaced. I demanded they replace the door with a defect-free one, the insurance company refused with their adjuster actually saying "if we fixed cars the way our customers wanted we couldn't keep the cost down" and "sometimes we use dented parts" also a dent that occurred during the accident was fixed with body filler against my request for a proper repair. The third inspection, bumper skin was not fastened around the wheel wells and underneath and a 1/2" misalignment of the rear door was noticed midway up the driver side rear panel. I believe the body was knocked out of alignment in the collision. The adjuster said they could fix it by replacing one of the rear hinges. The hinge is not damaged. Nobody from Intact wanted to listen to my opinion or hear my complaints. Now they are saying they will just carry on with the repairs and if I am unhappy in the end I will have to get an appraisal from someone else and will have to sue Intact. 1 1/2 years ago the MOT in Ontario charged me tax on a vehicle valued at $18000, so far the Intact has spent $14300 on repairs with more to come, my rental car so far has cost Intact over $6000. Over $20000 spent so far with no regard for customer satisfaction. I don't know how this company is still in business. They hurt me far worse than the guy who hit me.

Worlds worst insurance company

by INTACT SUCKS! on Aug 28, 2019
1 out of 5 stars

Save yourself a lot of grief and read these reviews and take them seriously. Avoid Intact Insurance, they are awful! I was in a car accident a month ago, was 100% not at fault and Intact has yet to even appraise my vehicle for damages and is still sitting at the towing company. I haven’t been able to work since the day of the accident and they have yet to pay out a single penny for lost wages like they said they will. The lack of communication is unbelievably terrible and every time I call them I get someone new and told an entirely different story about why it is taking so long to process my claim.

Waiting for weeks

by Christa Anders on Aug 1, 2019
1 out of 5 stars

Was in an accident, sent my vehicle to Intact’s preferred shop. This experience has been atrocious! My car sat for a week untouched, my estimate sat for another week untouched. The third week has passed, repairs have not even been started. Have complained to numerous people at Intact, all they do is offer apologies and NEVER return phone calls. You are way better off else where! You will regret it if you ever have to rely on them.

Choose another insurance

by Disappointed customer on Jul 25, 2019
1.5 out of 5 stars

I recently had an accident where I was rear-ended. I contacted my broker and Intact to go through the procedure to start a claim. I was not at fault but they treated me as such. My broker did not defend me. They never called me, or the collision place to provide an update. When they (adjusters) finally gave me an offer, after confirming my car was a total loss, they provided an offer that was less than the car's worth... They acted like they were doing me a favour with the offer they provided. They will act like they care until you actually need them too.

Terrible service

by Ahmed on Jul 5, 2019
1 out of 5 stars

I had someone hit my and run my vehicle in a parking lot. There was minor damage to the front bumper and driver's side head light. It has been 3 weeks now and this company and the repair shop are dragging their feet with the whole process. They have terrible customer service where no one follows up to update you on the situation and the adjusters are a joke. After the file your claim they won't even answer your calls or messages. Stay clear of Intact. A company with 8.7billion in revenue can't be bothered to do their jobs properly.

Worst customer service ever

by Garbage on Jun 25, 2019
1 out of 5 stars

I was jerked around by intact for over 1.5 months. I had a vehicle towed after an accident and had the tow company take my vehicle and lock it into a holding compound and refused to release the car b/c Intact refused to pay a $15 environmental fee. I talked to 5 “managers” and they assured me they would release the car that day. This happened 5 times was never handled until I had to threaten to sue and leave there business. They have zero consideration for there customers. Worst insurance company ever. They claim to be the cheapest out there. This I agree. You definitely get what you pay for. Not worth a dime.

TERRIBLE

by BG123 on Jun 21, 2019
1 out of 5 stars

Instead of helping me they told me to go elsewhere, didn’t do anything on the claim I had after I phoned/emailed every month. Customer service is absolutely horrific and rude. I’ve been with them for years and they don’t see loyal customers as a value. Do NOT recommend to anyone looking at purchasing any kind of insurance through them.

If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.

Betterment Clause

by Bill on Jun 13, 2019
4.5 out of 5 stars

I was told I only had to pay my Deductable ($500.00) as the vandalization to my vehicle was a no-fault claim. Along came the quote for repairs, I was informed that because new parts had to be installed, I would need to pay the Betterment clause portion, an additional $1,500.00. Insurance advised me that my vehicle was now in better condition than before the vandalization. Vehicle after repairs run the same as before, and looked the same, and didn't increase the trade in value. Total rip off!
