Intact is cheating customers

by starwar on Jan 24, 2018

Let's make some noise for Intact's worse service; recently, I requested my LOE from Intact, they have thousand reasons to deny it. I got an accident in 2014. Somebody hit my car in the parking lot, while I parked properly and was shopping inside; and the accident report states that there was nobody inside the car. I sent a request to my broker and need him to correct its record 100% not at fault, 50% at fault in the record right now. Intact said police cannot determine who is at fault in the accident, insurance company does. OMG. Police cannot decide who's at fault in the accident. Then what's the use of police? After that, intact put me on the high-risk level and charge me more. I believe they can play this trick on customers. That's the reason I need my LOE to read it in details, but they said you need to contact your broker; then my broker said Intact doesn't provide it. What a ridiculous reason. It's my personal insurance record. How come they cannot offer it to me. If you have experienced the same situation. please make some noise.

This is a long one

Full disclosure - I have been with Intact for years and absolutely loved them. They were easy to deal with, called me back within minutes of me calling, great price compared to everywhere else I had shopped around. Recently, however, I had a claim against me from someone who was also from Intact. I was in a parking lot, backing up, when this guy came speeding by and scraped his rim on the very bottom of my bumper. Refused to give me any info and left. I called Intact panicking, and explained to my broker what had happened. He told me not to worry, that it would likely be 50/50 if anything even came of it but since it was so minor that I could use forgiveness if worst came to worst. Fast forward to 6 months later when the guy decided to go through with the claim. I received a call, tried to ask questions, was found automatically at fault. They didn't want witness statements, they didn't care about the pictures I sent (the damage for which CLEARLY shows that he was speeding because it's a small scrape across my bumper; unfortunately the phone with the pictures indicating that I was over halfway out when he hit me is broken). I tried to ask what would come of it and where I would go, and the guy refused to answer any questions. He said he couldn't look into the other person's claim details. I called back and asked to speak with someone else a few days later who was magically able to view the other person's claims, who asked me to send pictures and who said that maybe they should investigate. No investigation was done and it's in my file that it's my fault. I've asked three separate times now for the forgiveness and no one has given me a straight answer about it. My insurance was supposed to be renewed December 23rd, but I was thinking of getting a new vehicle, and I was a little choked at the claim situation, so I asked to put only fire and theft insurance for two weeks while I debated and got the prices for everything. They processed my payment early, so I was told to put a stop on it, when I noticed they charged me way more than they were supposed to. I thought it was because of the claim, but low and behold the man who made the claim has apparently dropped off the face of the Earth and the claim is at a standstill. I called my broker to inquire about the charge and he said he didn't know. A week after this I received a letter telling me I was getting a $1500.00 dishonourment fee. I've never been late or missed a payment, so I have no idea what it was for. I've been calling my broker for the past week and a half, every single day, and he won't answer my calls or voicemails. I can't switch companies until I figure out the whole forgiveness thing and demand an investigation on the accident, and it's now coming up on my record that I have this huge late fee penalty so everywhere I get a quote from is crazy expensive. I've recommended friends and family to go here, even convinced two friends to go with them when they first began driving. I will NEVER recommend them to anyone else. I've been without a vehicle for almost a month now because I can't put insurance on it because of them. I can't even sell my car until I figure out what's going on in case they do decide to do an investigation (I just became a student and finance my vehicle so this is really raking up). I would give them no stars if I could. No idea where this all came from - five years of nothing but great service and now this.

Terrible company

This company does not care about anything but doing money out of people, has no sympathy for individuals in certain situations. And also decided to screw me over before Christmas. Thanks, Intact. And I will continue to write bad reviews about this Business. Shame on every person. MONEY MONEY MONEY, folks. You're paying for HIGH payments, crappy deductions and crap customer service pretty much...

Money grab

I had auto insurance with these guys for 2 years. I finally got a chance to phone around for cheaper rates, I found an agency who gave me the same product for half the price. Intact called me to renew the policy and I told them I was going with someone else. One month later they went into my bank account and tried to withdraw money for the insurance. I called them and I got an NSF charge. I called them and they said the insurance was still in place, even after I told them I was with another company. I emailed them my new policy with details as requested by them. I put a stop payment against them and they are still trying to take money. I called emailed them half a dozen times! They keep calling demanding payment after all this. They charge way too much and it seems they now cost me more money to get away from these crooks.

Wouldn't Recommend

I was with intact for only a year. They are the first company I've been with and they provided me with the lowest rate at that time. I was in a not at fault accident about 2 months ago and when I contacted intact and mentioned that the other insurers policy was American they did not lift even a finger to try and help me. They eventually assigned me an adjuster who I contacted and left messages for 5+ times and they failed to call me back every time. It took me almost 3 months to get everything settled ON MY OWN with the other insurers company because Intact wouldn't even bat an eye to help. Once I got my new car they told me how much it was going to be monthly and I was okay with it but once I got my papers, it was $60 higher than what they told me over the phone and when I called they said the person just must have told me the wrong amount. THEN I recently received my renewal and they upped my insurance to $500 a month, almost DOUBLE what I was paying before. When I contacted them they told me they couldn't budge on that price. I had one minor speeding ticket that was 15 over in a 100 that was paid the same day and they said that's why it went up so drastically and because they raised their insurance prices, when yet everyone I talked to who had a minor speeding ticket only put a very small ding in their insurance if anything at all. I would definitely NOT recommend this company to anyone.

Increase in premium

by Maame on Jun 7, 2017
1 out of 5 stars

I had a very bad experience with Intact insurance. I bought the insurance and my premium was 253/mth. After a year, I did not receive any documentation. I checked my bank account and Intact had debited my account for an amount of 350. I called the broker who then said they renewed the insurance automatically and my premium had gone up by almost 50%. That was the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. I had no driving issues throughout the year, no tickets, the police had never pulled me over but my premium has increased.FLEE FROM INTACT INSURANCE!!!

Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.

Quoted me a good price, signed up for said price; got charged WAY more.
Told me payments come out on the 1st of every month, took the money out 3 days early causing me insufficient funds and a NSF charge.
Agent that was spoke with tried to blame me for not having money in my account "at all times" because I "will never know when it will be needed"
MONEY HUNGRY COMPANY!!!

NEVER EVER GO THERE

by Natalie on Dec 22, 2016

NEVER EVER trust them and insure with them!
My car was crashed in a rear-ended collision in October 20, 2016. Intact considered it as a complete loss. But, the only damage was - the trunk does not lock. They contacted me last Friday, December 16, 2016 and said, that my car is written off and they are going to report it in Alberta Transportation; so, I can not drive my car of the roads legally after December 23, 2016. Which means, my child and I have no car in Christmas!!! I asked David M. numerous times to extend that period of time that I can find a replacement. I asked him about a mercy, I said its Christmas. He said he NO ITS YOUR PROBLEMS. So, I was offered a cheque with a very little money that I can definitely can replace my infiniti. Well, having no choice I agreed to take a cheque. He said, that I will get on Monday. But, i did NOT get a check on Monday case it was not ready. I got on Tuesday at 4 pm. I went to the bank and asked to cash that cheque. The Manager from the TD branch with is on 3d st 751 av sw declined it because this cheque might be a fake one. I said that I have all documents from INTACT to prove it and explained the situation briefly. They did not trust me. So, i can get money in December 27. And I have no car from December 24. I cried.
Also, when I came there to insure my car, they gave me a good price and I signed documents. However, one months later they increased my monthly payments by $30 without letting me know. I contacted the office and they said, they found a speed ticked from 1.5 ago. However, I TOLD to the broker that i HAD one ticket in 11 years in 2015 and he said that the price is considering this ticket.

INTACT left my child and me with no car for Christmas! They are not humans!

Terrible company! Do not trust them.

Charged for nothing

by Petrovah on Sep 19, 2016
1 out of 5 stars

Living in Newfoundland Canada we now have taxed insurance. Intact Insurance was charging close to $3000 for full coverage for the year so I found a better deal at one of their competitors. I spoke with them on the phone letting them know I was cancelling and was told that I would have to sign something in order to cancel to which I replied "Okay, I'll make my way down there when I can." Nothing else was said. I have now received a "legal notice" in the mail saying I owe them $279 for non payment up until October 4th. They're charging me, and letting me know they're cancelling my policy, for not paying on a policy I've already told them I was cancelling.

Stay away from this company, unless you intend to never leave them, otherwise they'll find a way to charge every single penny they can.

The worst

by MENKARE on Sep 8, 2016

Once you get your high quote, you get no service ! Just asking for more money, when you renew without any plausible reason. Oh and I forgot that fake regarding saving money with My Discount Program which actually ends up increasing the payment despite being a safe and a good driver .
Such a bunch of robbers!
I have no idea why Ontario still depend on private insurance !!!!
