Terrible

by gilehmerd on Nov 29, 2016
1 out of 5 stars

I am reading all these, and I am pulling my hair. why didn't I read these before, all TRUE, or seems TRUE, or going to be TRUE.

I am in Canada, and just learned that RBC sold its insurance business to Aviva.

I feel sorry for you, and for myself, that no doubt, I am going to have the same nightmare. My first conversation with adjuster today, verbally offered me 24k for my super mint MDX ELITE 2011 with low mileage, that you hardly find at 28k. And when i said wow, that is too low, she threatened me that she will pull out rental as of today. BECAUSE SHE MADE AN OFFER. this is just 7 days past accident!!!

So, that is nice business, offer a low value, and pull the rental if customer doesn't accept. Put pressure on a family who got in accident and lost their primary car. I didn't know this is how insurance suppose to work!!!

Deceived and Bullied

by disgruntled on Jul 1, 2016

I will try to keep this brief. No adjuster contacted me for three working days after I phoned immediately (during working hours) from the accident. The body shop and towing compound sought out me over the next several days because they were not getting information to proceed from AVIVA. The body shop contacted me for approval of repairs while AVIVA failed to inform me of any progress (they had been debating write off versus repair). I contacted AVIVA for information. The adjuster eventually (several days later) told me that although extensive damage that the car was repairable because the damage was less than 70% of the value of the car. I pointed out that, with simple math and the value and damage figures they provided to me, the damage exceeded 75% of the value, without regard to the 20% contingency that the repairs might grow by because the extent of repairs was hidden. The response was to up the valuation of my car by $6000 to make the math work. I requested a supervisor because nothing made sense and because the adjuster was bulling me into accepting their terms and if I didn't agree immediately to their terms I must assume immediate possession of vehicle including charges to remove from body shop and expenses to date and accept a cheque that would not cover repairs. The supervisor the adjuster handed me over to (by my request) turned out to be just another adjuster but fooled me until after I was beaten and agreed to AVIVAs terms. All of this happened when the other parties insurance accepted full blame and costs from the start. You never know how good your insurance is until you submit a claim!

Cancellation Fees

by JayCole on Jun 29, 2016
1 out of 5 stars

How do these guys calculate their cancellation fees? Apparently it is going to cost me $900 to cancel my policy with them. I have the right to cancel my policy at any given time and these extremely unreasonable fees were not stated in the paperwork given to me at the time of renewal. I have been a loyal customer since I was 18 and this is how I am being treated? I also have never had an accident or placed any claims. How about instead of the $900 I pay them $100 and we can both go our separate ways? This feels like a bad break up.

If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.

100% robbers

by DANGEROUS. Stay Away!!! on Jun 23, 2016

The worst insurance company ever. Very rude adjusters, keep denying my benefits while I have proves from many doctors, the only thing the care for is taking your money. But when it goes the other way around, they don't want to spend a penny. I believe the insurance system is there because when you get in a disability, there's somebody is going to take care of you. Not to make your condition worse. An honest advice, stay away from these robbers, and find a company that cares.

Worst Service

by Chris on May 13, 2016
1 out of 5 stars

I cancelled my auto insurance with them. The representative at the broker's office told me that I'll get some refund. When I called them, they told me they have penalized me to cancel the insurance. Instead of refund, I owe them some money. If there was a penalty to cancel the insurance, why the representative did not educate me on that. The customer service was the worst. They don't listen to their clients at all.

Do Not Do Business With Them

by Very Upset! on Jan 9, 2016

I was hit by my neighbour. While I was in drive. They have deemed it 50/50 even though she had an obstruct to her view of my car. And because she says I hit her, but the witch is also suing for injuries. Can someone explain to me how you get injuries from backing out of a driveway. When you only have 5 feet to move?? So Obiviously she is just trying to get money from the insurance company! And it took them 6 months to tell me that it will be 50/50 and they didn't even try to fight it! They wouldn't take all the photos I had or my boyfriends statement into context, they just rolled over and said it was 50/50 so they could money off of both parties!!! Insurance companies are suppose to fight for their customers, not lay down and it!! Also I dealt with the worst customer serivce imagionable!! Once my car is fixed I am leaving this company and will tell everyone that will listen about my horrible experience I had with company.

Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.

thiefs

A foolish driver ruined some shrubs and my fence one night.
Aviva doesn't want to pay. They hired a firm specialized in claims with so many questions with the sole purpose of not paying a dime.
Worst assurance company ever. STAY AWAY.

Customer service sucks

I had a question about my bill since it was my first payment to the company and the customer service rep in the billing department was extremely unhelpful. He kept referring me to my broker and wouldn't explain the bill to me. I pray to God I don't have to call these people again!

NEVER AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!

by mirmir on Aug 11, 2015

Absolutely disgusted. I had my car broken into, smashed out the back window and stole my gym bag.
Total value- Window replaced was $720, Gab contents with make-up bag- $800.
Both car and home insurance with Aviva- but because they deem them separate claims, deductible had to be paid on both, $250 for car and $500 for home, so a total deductible of $750 for $1500 worth of stuff.....
When I asked around to other insurance companies, I was told that in this case with a double claim from a single incident, they 99% of the time charge you the higher of the two deductibles... this makes sense to me.

Also, the worst part was.... I made the claim and was told that an adjuster would contact me within 24-48 hours.... after at least 5 calls and over 2 weeks later I finally was able to talk to an adjuster who told me, my car claim has been processed but my bag claim has been denied as it is not covered through my car insurance and I have to submit a separate claim?????? I asked why I had not been contacted??? I lost it.... I told them I am aware they are different claims, but how can you not handle them both at the same time????? And why did all this go ahead without even having a conversation with me??

Absolutely useless insurance company and a rip off.... I have never in my life made a claim, but this company will not see another penny from me!! RIP OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Horrible Service....

I was in a car accident, I was hit by a driver with no insurance at a stop sign. He totaled my car. They had me a rental the very next morning ( that was the ONLY good part) I had a mazda 6 with nothing wrong with it ( other than the back wheel frame was starting to rust) I had 700$ brand new tires on it not even 2 months old.. They took 2 weeks to tell me they would offer my 1900$ for the car in total ( complete rip off, I had 5 appraisers tell me I could have sold that car for an easy 6000$) They informed me that they would cover the rental for 3 days after the offer. I told them that I didn't feel the offer was fair, and they said the rental would need to be returned regardless if I accepted or not because they gave me the offer.. So with work, 3 year old, 2 adults,1 person income..I was forced into taking the money... Told me I would have the cheque in 5 business days..... Well lord and behold.. a week and a half passes.. No cheque? Called in, "sorry, there was misconfusion and the cheque only got mailed yesturday".. So had to return the rental.. And took 3 weeks and 4 days in total to get the cheque... Horrible..
I was without a car for a FULL month.. I requested my mays payment back for paying for a month with no car... In short. They basically told me to bad so sad, screw you. I told them when the renew policy comes up I would not be renewing.. Their response to that was. " That's your decision"...
Injury claim was presented which I accepted ( only took A little over 2 months for them to make an offer)... Its now been a week, and still no cheque.. emailed them and "oops sorry, could take another 5 buisness days".
I requested it to go direct deposit into my account. They said "that is not an option we have".. Well jeeze. They sure don't mind taking my money out of my account directly.. But wont put it in directly..?

I'm still waiting on a lady to get back to me about loss of wages, medication cost, therapy.. The lady handling my claim emailed me.. I emailed her back with a bunch of questions.. And its been over a month and numerous emails.. And no response..
AVOID Aviva at all cost. Come September I will be switching for sure. 6 years with this company with no issues. 1 care accident and this is the service they give.
