2 claims now and both terrible

Horrible appraiser! First they offer $3,000 on an $18,000 car.
Then take 4 weeks to say it can't be repaired as subframe isn't available in North America. So will give me $3,600 to source a frame overseas and arrange repairs myself.
Yeah, $3,600 isnt even close to enough. And a wrecking yard subframe? That sounds safe.
Aviva is the stingiest car insurance company in Canada. Sure their premiums are generally reasonable which is why they are one of the largest insurance companies, however, as soon as you get into an accident and need treatment they will do anything to avoid paying.
I am a personal injury lawyer and any time I get an Aviva Accident Benefits file they try to designate it as minor injury and only pay out $3.5k for treatment. I have had files where my client had severe PTSD or tears in the shoulder or pre-existing injuries which make it impossible to resolve their accident-related injuries under the $3.5k limit (this should get you out of the Minor Injury Guideline and increase your entitlement to treatment to $65k), and they all get labelled as minor injury claimants.
Never go with Aviva.
If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.
The Accident Benefits team in Markham Ontario have been a nightmare to deal with. I have been fighting with them for 3.5 years and now have to take them to court. I have been forced to pay out thousands of dollars in rehab and I was the one who was rear ended. They hired their own doctor to review my claim who said my injuries were not serious and were not as a result of my accident. Do not wait until you need them to find out they are scam artists. Save your money and go elsewhere.
Aviva is pure garbage! It’s just another SCAM! They did not do a fair assessment of 2 seniors who had a car accident. They offered $0 !!!!!!
Just like the old saying, you get what you pay for. I chose Aviva 3 years ago because they had the best rate. (Actually, my broker did) I have since learned saving a few dollars is not always worth it. Aviva has terrible customer service. A while back my friend asked me if she could borrow my car for an hour to drop some stuff off at her mom's house for Easter. I said sure no problem. Unfortunately, she ended up getting in an accident (it wasn't her fault, another driver went through a red light). Called and reported it and started the claims process. Over the next few weeks, I kept getting calls from different people at Aviva asking the same questions over and over. I said I already gave you all the details and answered these questions can't you just refer to your notes instead of wasting my time? They said well the notes weren't made correctly and that was the reason for calling and asking again. 3 times apparently. Next thing I know my claim has been denied, for non-cooperation during the claims process. I couldn't believe it. It gets better. 3 weeks later I get a letter in the mail saying my insurance is cancelled for misrepresentation. I called to ask them to elaborate and they said we think you're friend was driving the car on a regular basis! Again, I was blown away. Completely ridiculous and couldn't be further from the truth. That friend had never used my car ever before that time, Aviva simply was pulling at strings finding any little loophole they could try to exploit to get out of having to pay the claim. The sad thing was the claim was only going to be around $2500 as the car was deemed a total loss and wasn't worth much due to its age. At 40 years old that was my first claim ever in my life! Perfectly clean driving record with no tickets, accidents or claims prior, my payments are always made every month without missing one ever and this is how I get treated, like a criminal. This is the most despicable company I've ever come across in my life. Stay far away, even if the other insurance quote is $10 more a month, it's worth it! It's not possible that you'll get any worse service from anyone else, it simply isn't possible.
Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.
My Vehicle was hit 3 times in 4 years. The first time the driver stayed and all information were exchanged, he admitted FULL fault to me and the police. The second time the driver took off, the third time AVIVA refused to cover it (surprise) I had to pay for it. I was not in my vehicle any of the times it was hit by another driver making it NO FAULT of mine. Then a rock hit my windscreen and I had to have it replaced. This year in 2020 AVIVA sent me a letter cancelling my insurance due to "4 events in 4 years" now remember event one the driver stayed, event two the driver ran, event three AVIVA refused to pay, and event four was a rock. I have never had a ticket and have been driving for 20 years, also have NEVER had an AT FAULT accident. Also during event number two the hit and run where the driver fled, the garage that AVIVA insisted that I go to cause an additional 1400.00 in damages to my vehicle. I called their Ombudsperson who naturally sided with AVIVA and I had to pay to repair the 1400.00 in damages out of my own pocket. We had (I say "had" as I am in the process of cancelling) my vehicle, my wife's vehicle and my house insurance with AVIVA - Count yourself very lucky AVIVA that lawyers are so expensive and that you are simply not worth the headache because if I had the time and the energy I would sue them. You treat your customers like garbage. But boy do you guys like to make sure to collect your premiums. Sure like to break your contracts though. Dishonest, lying company.
Multiple claims with this company, they basically don't give anything. A simple example: I had to fight with them only to get them to send a towing to pick up the car that wasn't safe to drive. Then again for many other things. Avoid at all costs, what good is an unreliable insurance company when you need it? The only thing they're good at is taking money out of your account.
Aviva uses delay and escapes tactics to get out of paying you. They request a phenomenal amount of doctor's notes and Medical documentation. If you try to go it on your own then forget about it, they will make you feel crazy and dismiss you. You NEED a lawyer to back you up if you want them to treat you half fairly. Even then the lawyer's aid will have a hard time getting them to pick up the phone and even the lawyer will have troubles. They will wait the full 30 days to pay you OR present you with a request for FURTHER documentation and make you wait for another 30 days and THEN once you sent it in they will legally have another 30 days to acknowledge that they received the paperwork. Get a good lawyer if you want your entitled benefit money, whether you are a customer or a victim of one of their customers and you have no insurance.

1st not my fault but took way too long to settle and was told outcome would come in a week. 3 months+ later. Now waiting on another claim and they cannot be found. Horrible service for the money spent. My brokers are doing the best they can, but this company is terrible, and I agree with the warning of others recommending going else where. Anywhere for that matter than Aviva. Take a chance with that dodgy company from India before trusting these folks. More or less at least some factors in play.
