2 claims now and both terrible

1st not my fault but took way too long to settle and was told outcome would come in a week. 3 months+ later. Now waiting on another claim and they cannot be found. Horrible service for the money spent. My brokers are doing the best they can, but this company is terrible, and I agree with the warning of others recommending going else where. Anywhere for that matter than Aviva. Take a chance with that dodgy company from India before trusting these folks. More or less at least some factors in play.

I have been disgusted by Aviva, there staff are ignorant and abusive and the simply fail to respond to claims in a reasonable time frame.
I had a vehcile accident on the 6th of October 2023, I filed a claim on the 20th of October 2023... it is now almost 6 months later on the 28th of March 2024 and the ignorant and incompentant staff will simple not respond to a request for an update.
I have send over 20 emails on an almost weekly basis and every single email is ignored.
These people are horrible, ignorant, rude and simply people who go about their lives punishing others and blaming others for their own unhappiness.
DO NOT PURCHASE AVIVA CAR INSURANCE - THEY IGNORE CLAIMS.

Claim nightmare

Horrible appraiser! First they offer $3,000 on an $18,000 car.
Then take 4 weeks to say it can't be repaired as subframe isn't available in North America. So will give me $3,600 to source a frame overseas and arrange repairs myself.
Yeah, $3,600 isnt even close to enough. And a wrecking yard subframe? That sounds safe.

Absolutely, dreadful company

This company is not worth your time of day. Do not insure your vehicle with them. They happily take your money and provide you with little to no customer service. Communication is horrible, the adjusters have absolutely no idea what they’re talking about, they love to ignore your emails. They deny as much as possible and do not want to be accountable for anything. I have nothing good to say about this really disgusting company.

If you need peace of mind, stay away from Aviva

I was T-boned by another car a day before I was going for my vacation to visit India. I gave them all the required information and files the claim right away. But since I was not going to be in Canada for a month, I gave my father in law the authorization to act on my behalf. They told me the insurance adjuster will contact my father in law next day, but she called him after a week and said she needed my authorization by call to make my father in law deal with the insurance. I called them from India, the call waiting was about half an hour, just to go to her voice mail saying that she is on her vacation for two weeks, meanwhile no one was assigned for my case. I had to disconnect and call again to talk to another adjuster, I had to repeat everything about my case because they said they don't have anything on file, then she told me she has everything she needs and will contact my father in law if she needs anything else, it's been three weeks and there has been no communication from them.
I have never had such a delay in resolving a claim before with my previous insurance company. I changed it because I was saving couple hundred dollars a year and now I regret changing! Please stay away from them, it's not worth stressing about. I'm on my vacation and it's been stressful dealing with them.

If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.

They will try anything not to pay out

Aviva is the stingiest car insurance company in Canada. Sure their premiums are generally reasonable which is why they are one of the largest insurance companies, however, as soon as you get into an accident and need treatment they will do anything to avoid paying.

I am a personal injury lawyer and any time I get an Aviva Accident Benefits file they try to designate it as minor injury and only pay out $3.5k for treatment. I have had files where my client had severe PTSD or tears in the shoulder or pre-existing injuries which make it impossible to resolve their accident-related injuries under the $3.5k limit (this should get you out of the Minor Injury Guideline and increase your entitlement to treatment to $65k), and they all get labelled as minor injury claimants.

Never go with Aviva.

Horrible company

If I could give them 0 stars, I would. The worst insurance company ever. The customer service is disorganized and unprofessional. The claims department is the slowest process and only creates more stress for their customers. I’d literally pay double or triple to insure myself anywhere else!!! Don’t waste your time or money here

She doesn't know how to communicate with you and at the end day. My case is still unsolved & she declared it so unfair. Thinking to reopen my case.

Not worth the headache

I’m going through claims now and let me tell you….what a nightmare! This company is very unreasonable. Their adjusters do not return phone calls or emails. Everything involves multiple phone calls and emails to get any answers. I’m at the point I’d rather pay more for car insurance with another company than have to deal with their terrible customer service. Talk to any accident lawyer…. dealing with Aviva is one of the worst companies to deal with in the industry. Can’t wait to move on.
