Terrible experience

by Sabrina on Apr 23, 2015

I have auto insurance with them for more than one year. This year I moved just cross the road. Without any inform they just changed my rate double and charged directly from my bank account. I tried many times to talk to them but they said there is no record of my policy number. If so how could they charged me? I am cancelling it now.

Stay away from aviva

by Duck on Mar 19, 2015
1 out of 5 stars

This insurance is pathetic. It might be cheap, but it's not worth a penny. Having to deal with a claim is going to leave me grey haired and stressed out. The claim agents never answer the phone, never call back and never reply to emails. Even the managers are the same. Waiting for adjuster to estimate the damages is another story, I honestly don't know what kind of incompetent people work there.
Again, stay away from Aviva, I know I will. Better to pay more, but have a piece of mind.

RV Trailer Damage

The Aviva agent was slow to return calls, kept passing the buck to the adjuster and refused to address our concerns. It has been such a horrible experience for us our insurance agent is never selling policies by this company again. We have never felt more disrespected by a company

Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.

RV insurance

Some idiot put earthquake and sewer back up riders on my travel trailer policy. I caught it and my agent took the riders off. Pretty unethical to me.

Absolutely dreadful.

Horrendous insurance company. The customer support spoke nothing but incomprehensible, nonsensical gibberish which, roughly translated, consisted of excuses for their terrible and illogical behaviour. They also bill me without warning and long before they're supposed to, and on top of that, they constantly find new ways to, again, rip me off. My rate spiked for no reason at all, for starters. Do yourself a favour and avoid Aviva at all costs.

Zero stars would look good

I wish there were a zero star to give. It's the worse Auto insurance and has poor customer service. They are quick to take money every month, about $700, and they only cover $3500 for treatment. Do not buy AVIVA auto insurance. The price does not match coverage and service.

Beware! Big scam!

My son had an accident in Detroit on his way to cross back to Windsor.
Aviva assigned the claim to a third-party company (Sedgwick).
The adjuster did nothing but stalled the process every chance he got.
The first Michigan repair estimate was saying total loss with cist of repairs approximately 17k USD.
The estimate was converted in Canada for 17k CAN (and repairable)!
After arguing with the adjusting company finally the car was brought to Canada and following the reinspection of an Aviva, the appraiser has deemed a total loss ( a month and a half after the accident).
The settlement offer was fair and my son accepted but when he called the insurance company ( RBC insurance/Aviva )
He was offered a quote of 445 per month up from 249 before the accident.
This is despite the fact my son was not at fault and moreover he had accident forgiveness in his policy.
Therefore he shopped around and switched insurance companies
we (my wife and I) will do the same next year at renewal and will move auto and home somewhere else from Aviva.
They are awful to deal with them! Long wait times on the phone mean the attitude of unprofessional agents etc...

Still A No Show

So, I had a collision back in March 2019. I didn't want a claim as it was minor scratches; my car still runs fine. After going to the collision reporting center, they made a claim automatically for me despite me telling them I wasn't going through insurance. That happened right in the collision reporting center, be careful! The next day I'm contacted by a claims adjuster. He was very friendly. I told him I didn't want a claim but he said that now that they know about the collision and the claim has been opened, he can't close it and that it will impact my policy anyway. So since I was already going to get screwed, I thought I might as well go through with the claim. Well, after some back and forth, the claims adjuster, as well as the "recommended" body shop, screwed up after I took my car in for an estimate. I gave them the claims number and called my insurance adjuster on it. I was very polite as well as the "recommended" body shop. I told him that he needs to look into the issue and get back to me. That was 36 months ago. I haven't heard from him since. I still check my e-mail for updates, I'm still driving around in a damaged car. OH! I've also paid more in additional premium over the past 3 years than the estimate from the body shop to fix my damn car, yet Aviva has paid out $0 on the claim. So, they've made their money back from me.... on a claim that they never paid out on. Cool stuff.

Auto claim insurance

by Hanif kanji on May 21, 2022
1 out of 5 stars

This company is the worst company I have ever experienced they really harassed me with my auto claim. First of all, they took a whole month to just take my claim on top of it they lied to me they said your car since it has high mileage it will be written off, but they took another month just to find out if they should write it off or repair it. My car was totally totaled from the front end also all the wiring harness and fuse box were burnout but instead of sanding it to salvage they repaid a salvage vehicle and made it active. At first, they told me the repairs will cost me $4000 I ended up paying $10500, this is one of the worst companies to deal with! Please, find a better company. Aviva is a liar and thief when comes to an auto insurance claim.

Aviva only cares about their bottom line

by Kathryn Ladano on Mar 31, 2022

I switched to Aviva for insurance in February of 2020. I was happy with their low rates which were better than my previous provider. My opinion of them changed in the fall of 2020 when I was rear-ended by another vehicle and got a concussion as a result. My concussion didn't subside in the normal timeframe and developed into post-concussion syndrome which I'm still dealing with 1.5 years later. Aviva has been a constant roadblock in terms of getting the treatments I need to recover (which my plan is supposed to cover). First I was sent to a physiotherapy place of their recommendation where my treatments were all over the place. I'd be told I needed one thing but then I'd never heard about that again and I'd be seeing someone new. The treatments were not well coordinated with their staff, they were sporadic, and at the end of the day, not overly helpful. Then I was told to stop coming back when my insurance coverage ran out. I asked my adjuster if I could go back to therapy, but to a physiotherapist of my choosing. I was immediately rejected and had to hire legal assistance to get that to happen (and get myself moved to the major injury category). Now I'm FINALLY with a good physiotherapist and I'm finally making progress in my recovery and once again Aviva has stepped in and said I can't continue without doing further medical assessments. I'm already continually being assessed by my physiotherapist. They want me to travel long distances for further assessments knowing full well that I have an intolerance to the movement of being in a car for more than 30 minutes. They are terrible. They don't care about their customers, they don't care about providing you with the coverage you're paying them for, they just want to line their pockets and deny you as much as they possibly can. Every therapist and legal expert I've spoken to said "oh no.....you're with Aviva" because they have a reputation for being the worst in the business for this. You may save on your monthly premiums, but you'll pay dearly if you ever get into an accident and need therapy of any kind. They are heartless and soulless and I deeply regret ever giving them my business.
