Don’t use Aviva, Bad Company

by Gilbert Got Scammed by Aviva Insurance on May 31, 2021
1 out of 5 stars

If there were zero (0) score - that’s what they would get. I was with Aviva insurance for 11 years with zero claims for my Travel Trailer RV and suddenly I had to make my very first claim because of damage to my slide that was caused by wind storm depree damage. They will put you through hell and back. It was useless having this company as our RV insurance company. They never did approve our claim. They won’t answer calls and give you the run-around and when you think that you are getting somewhere they send out adjusters to look and they come up with every excuse possible not to approve a claim. They are scams. They all are seeing how many claims we don’t approve is more money in their pockets. They will take your money and that’s all. I believe in Karma so what they do to customers will affect them eventually.

Terrible!

by laura.hoang on Apr 25, 2019

Could not be more upset with Aviva Insurance, I had 2 policies with them; 1 policy which had a vehicle and another policy which has a vehicle and a house. Aviva automatically renewed my insurance policy for the house and 1 vehicle in November for another year and then when my second policy came up for renewal in December they made me fill out a bunch of bogus paperwork to renew that separate policy. I have friends that work in the insurance industry and said that Aviva was re-evaluating me as a customer because my premiums were not high enough (this would have been ok if they just raised it but the fact they made me reapply for one policy and not the other with the most non-user friendly paperwork to fill out ...) we all know how the economy works..... I ended having to get different insurance for my one vehicle and they were going to charge over $500 to cancel my home and auto with them because they just renewed it automatically the month before. My recommendation is to get a broker and tell them to not even look twice at AVIVA. The worse kind of customer service experience I have ever encountered. DO NOT CHOOSE AVIVA!

Aviva/ RBC awful companies

by Lina on Apr 24, 2019

I would rate them a 0 if I could. I was sent a registered letter stating that my car insurance would not be renewed because I didn’t send some forms in. I had no idea what they were talking about as I did not get any forms. I called RBC/ Aviva and I explained to them I did not get any forms. Basically, they didn’t seem to care at all and stated if I did not receive them, then they would have had returned mail. Wow, that’s not necessarily true. I have been a customer for 7 years and I get treated like this. Awful, just awful! Today I cancelled my property insurance with them as I do not want to give these companies a penny more as they obviously do not care about their customers. They proceed to charge me $176 to cancel the insurance- are you kidding me??? Pure thieves!!! Do not go with RBC/AVIVA insurance - they don’t care about their customers, they are not trustworthy and they are thieves - overcharging. My new insurance company is much better, better rates and coverage and guess what they value their customers.

Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.

Garbage Aviva company

by Michael on Apr 15, 2019

Aviva should change their name to Garbage company. It's not only me, but many of my knowns had the worst experience. Note it whenever you need a claim you will get nothing. This company is the best in refusing claims. Never get this insurance.

DO NOT USE AVIVA

by GibCare on Jan 23, 2019

Similar to a previous review, we were sent out the five-page "application" to renew our auto insurance after being loyal costumers for over 15 years with ZERO claims. This five-page application was difficult to even understand what they were asking. Upon calling Aviva for help, they were very rude and stated the form was "straightforward". They offered little guidance. We also received this form just prior to our policy expiring. We thought they were updating our information for the file only to find out they were cancelling our insurance with four days notice. We rushed our "application" overnight mail to Ontario (which cost $48) to be told it was not received in time and that we did not have insurance as of today. The customer service representative basically told me that they are no longer wanting to service Alberta. They did nothing to help us despite putting us through all this stress and added work to reapply for an existing policy (which we have had for over 15 years). Once we asked to speak to a manager, we were advised it would be put in for a request and it would take 5 days to return our call. We were also advised SHOULD they renew our policy, we would need to pay the entire amount upfront (we have paid monthly for 15 years and never, not once, defaulted on a payment). They have the WORST customer service I have ever experienced. Happy to take my business elsewhere and would advise any to check around before ever using Aviva home and auto insurance.

Incompetent company

by Dissatisfied on Dec 5, 2018
1 out of 5 stars

My recent experience dealing with this organization could be used as a case study of how to lose the confidence of your client/consumer. I recently received a registered mail notifying me that my auto insurance will not be renewed due to failure to provide an updated form that was allegedly mailed a few weeks prior. The customer care team was useless, incompetent, unprofessional and disorganized in their attempt to explain why my insurance will not be renewed. Aside from this, the application process to re-apply for insurance could be deemed archaic, incomplete at best. Furthermore, multiple customer service team members could not provide clear, concise direction on what is required for the reapplication process. In summary, terrible service, incompetent, unprofessional employees. Recommend to shop around and avoid this company!

Worst Service Ever

They cancelled my policy because in their system they received my signed packed later than the due date even though it was sent before. When asked why this happened in their system, they had no answer and refused to admit their mistake. The ombudsman is useless much like their customer service. They have no people skills, no problem-solving skills and are just plain stupid and will not admit their mistake even when it slaps them in the face. I tried to cancel my policy before they did and they refused because of the underwriting department but would not tell me the reason. Super unprofessional and the worst insurance company

Aviva is the worst!

by notsohappywithaviva on Feb 9, 2017
1 out of 5 stars

I had a rear end accident for which I had injuries. I was gainfully self-employed for several decades prior to the accident. Despite my giving them all of my information to prove my claim and income, they refused to give me income replacement benefits for 2 years! No explanation why. They cut me off treatment for several months until their medical expert finally wrote a report that got me more care. I had to hire legal help to get what I was due from them. They threw up roadblocks at every turn. I would NEVER recommend Aviva to anyone after the way I was treated by them.

stupid fraudulent jerks!!!

Want to give 0 stars btw. Me and my dad share a car. Anyways in november of 2016 some girl hit him from behind and when they finally came to give the estimate of the damage which took them weeks to do (before the holidays) they sent him to the mechanics (in january '17'). Well the mechanics decided to write off the car due to a bit of rust (for sure making enough money off the parts). While giving him pennies for the car. Aviva then told my dad he had to give back the rental or get a lawyer. He didnt even give them trouble shockingly enough (they left a 67 year old man with many health problems stranded to find his own way home) also leaving us without a vehicle while having to look for a new car. Can u say fraudulent or what? This is by far the worst insurence company out there

If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.

DIGUSTING SERVICE

by SarahTaylor on Nov 14, 2016
1 out of 5 stars

Completely disgusted by the ‘service’ I have received. I had an accident nearly a year ago that I believed to be a scam against myself. A guy in the car next to me who saw everything and thought what happened was dodgy got out of his car, gave me his details and told me he was more than happy to stand as a witness. I gave Aviva his details and told them I wanted it looked into. I have heard nothing since and this was in January this year. No calls, no paper work, nothing. I assumed that Aviva had spoken to the witness and after speaking to him known that the situation wasn’t as it seems and everything had been dropped. Then when I go to insure my car today I find out that where I should have 2 years no claims discount, I have none. After calling Aviva to find out why, I have just found out that Aviva paid out to the other party therefore affecting my no claims discount. All of which I was completely unaware of. I was never contacted or given any paperwork to suggest that this would turn into a claim on my policy. I never had to fill out anything or sign anything. The last conversation I had about this was of January this year to give Aviva the witness details and to tell them I wanted the situation looked into as I believed it was a scam. The best bit is that the witness I gave was never contacted. Apparently you made a judgment call and didn’t call him, surely if I am paying for my own policy if I give you a witness and tell you I believe it to be a scam you would at the least contact the witness. Is this not what I pay for? After speaking to your so called manager (Thomas J.) who was rude and completely unhelpful I am then told there is nothing he can do and it will take up to 8 weeks for my complaint to go through the system. So in those 8 weeks am I meant to just sit around and have no car? I then asked for proof of the total amount paid out to the other insurance party, just an invoice or a receipt, something that proves you paid this money to them and surprise surprise you can’t give this to me. So although you have apparently paid out to this third party against my policy I’m not allowed proof of this!? I am absolutely appealed and disgusted by this and will be taking this matter higher and making sure everyone I know never uses your disgusting company.

Also it's funny how my dad has just called you and you told him you would send me the proof in the post to me. So clearly your advisors have seen they're talking to a 20 year old girl who they think doesn't have a clue about cars etc, so they can get away with fobbing me off. Disgusting.
