The worst insurance company I have ever dealt with

If we could give them a zero-star review, we would. This is the worst insurance company we've ever dealt with, and frankly one of the MOST unprofessional companies we've ever dealt with as well. Our 2022 vehicle burned to the ground over a month ago, and since then we have had to follow up every week (sometimes more than once) and the adjuster has called us ONCE. We have been assured she will call, and she never does, or she claims she did, but there are no voicemails and no record of the call. We have always been timely in our premium payments, we have never made a claim on ANY of the 5 vehicles insured with them (which will be cancelled as soon as the current claim is resolved), and the level of service we have received has been abysmal. Every time we call to check the status of the claim, since our adjuster never calls or returns calls, we get a different story about what the status is, we get told that the adjuster will “call back”, we get told *there is no customer service department or supervisor we can speak with* unless we wait 24–48 hours for another callback (which shockingly haven't come yet). This company appears to promote thievery as well, given that they have refused to consider the FACTS when replacement value came in $13,000+ lower than it should have, and we had many compatibles that showed the delta to be even higher. The adjuster and supervisor at that time stated that they would not consider the compatibles, and that the payout was the payout. This was one week ago today, and when we called for an update today (since the check has not yet arrived), we were told there was no check and that they were still reviewing. What an unprofessional, frustrating, INCOMPETENT company to deal with.
Belairdirect insurance.
Worst insurance company ever.
Poor customer service. They offered me 25% of what my vehicle was worth. Then left the driver who was injured in the accident without a vehicle or way to get to physical therapy.
Still waiting almost a week now for supervisor to contact us.
CHEAP RATES MEANS CHEAP SERVICE
If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.
Belair insurance is terrible. I have been a loyal customer for 10+ years. My vehicle just got wrecked three and a half weeks ago by someone blowing a stop sign. They have been rude, uncaring, and unhelpful throughout this whole process. My adjuster did not even call me after the accident, they did not want to give me a rental and left me stranded for a ride a week and a half before I had to call them and fight to get one. They then sent me a lowball offer on my vehicle and tried to get me out of that rental within two days. My adjuster then did not tell me there was a delay in my settlement dispute for a week which led to me having to call them and demand to speak to my adjuster and a manager. I had previously sent all the receipts of the work done to the vehicle to them like they asked which equaled out to four thousand dollars. The adjuster called me and was super unhelpful as they have been unprofessional and unresponsive the whole time. The manager was great and really seemed eager to help get the claim moving to offer fair solutions like giving me back the rental they demanded back after offering me the settlement offer. They then sent me another lowball offer trying to shortchange me three thousand dollars only offering a thousand more for the four thousand dollars worth of work I had just put into the vehicle. The manager tried to call me during the day but I missed the call because I was in a dead zone and they expect you to just be okay with spending hours on the phone at work while your boss is wondering what you are doing. I called later that day asking to speak to the manager again and got told they would call me again in twenty-four hours further disrupting my work because they clearly do not care. I am supposed to get a call from the manager tomorrow and hope to get a fair resolution but I am not banking on it with how I have been treated this whole time. Definitely will be switching insurance companies as they have made me feel like a criminal.
1.7 stars out of 5 stars the same as hundreds of others. Even 1 star is too much. I made a claim on July 29 for a not-at-fault accident. After the initial report, I heard nothing from my adjuster. He said he would call back on August 2, but didn't. I emailed him on Aug 9, and he called me for the first time on Aug 10, 12 days after the collision. He made me a lowball offer on my car, which I refused. I called Belair Direct on Aug 17, 19 days after the accident. The customer service hung up on me. How dare I expect Belair to pay a claim after paying them for 10 years? Evidently, all those payments were for a piece of paper that gave the illusion that I was insured when really, I have no coverage. If you think you are insured by Belair, do yourself a favor and call a lawyer. You will need it dealing with these thieves. 70 days have passed since my NOT AT FAULT ACCIDENT, and to date, the only thing this company has given me is $45 for the ambulance. I have sent the adjuster 24 emails but nothing happens. The adjuster does not answer my calls or emails. Unbelievably bad service.
Their final offer for my car was about $3,000 short of what I thought it should be. The adjuster told me to get an independent appraisal done which I did. That showed the value of my car to be $3,000 to $5,000 more than their offer. They raised their offer by $1,000. They said they don't count independent appraisals because the appraiser always favors the client. They seem to have an answer to everything except the question of when will I get a settlement for my car. Being with Belair Direct feels like I've been caught in a scam!
I had a not-at-fault collision on July 29 involving my car and utility trailer. Despite assurances from the claims reporting office that the claim would be settled within a week, I found that Belairdirect is in no hurry to settle a claim. 70 days post-collision, I had received only $45 for ambulance reimbursement. 77 days post-collision, I receive $3100 for my trailer which cost me $5500 for an identical one. What kind of appraisal is this? After 77 days, the storage yard is making more money from storage than I'll get for my trailer. As for my car, they offered me about $5000 less than I thought it was worth. The adjuster told me to get an independent appraisal, which I did. The appraisal showed the value of my car to be $5000 more than Bellair's original offer. After 77 days, their best and final offer is still $2,000 lower than the lowest range of the independent appraisal. I have entered into their progressive complaint procedure, which has done nothing. The only thing this company does efficiently is collect its premiums. Belair is great at making you feel good until you make a claim, only then you'll realize that you are screwed.
Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.
I was involved in an accident in the left rear corner of my vehicle while stopped. Belairdirect accused me of re-entering the main road and set the decision at 50/50 fault until I provided pictures and spent hours on the phone and threatened legal action. After it was determined I was not at fault at all, they completely undervalued my vehicle and the extra add ons. They offered me a bit over $100 for trailer hitch, braking control systems, and the remote start which cost me over $1500 alone for purchase and installation. Going back and forth for a while and they would not even use my own appraisal for my vehicle. Been a driver with a clean record for over 10 years with them and was treated like this. Save your money and go elsewhere, the reviews speak for themselves
Worst customer service ever! If you ever have to file a claim, you’d have to quit your job just to make sure anything is done right. It took for almost 3 months for my claim to be resolved. And in the end, I was paid a fraction of my car’s value. I would give them a 0 star if I can.
I’ve dealt with multiple insurance companies, Belairdirect is by far the worst. They will happily take your money but will do everything possible to get out of paying money or simply doing their job. I had an accident in November, got injured and my car was totalled. It’s now March, haven’t gotten a penny. And now they are trying to push off the injury payment to the insurance company I signed up for a month after the accident occurred. The whole time, I am still being told to pay insurance (for a car that isn’t on the road anymore) so that my account stays open in hopes of eventually getting coverage for the damage done to my car. If looking for insurance, Belairdirect is cheap, but don’t follow through with anything committed.
My vehicle was vandalized, reported and claim initiated. The adjuster took one month to make fraudulent links to assess my claim. I could not verify where she got prices so low that did not exist anywhere. Her Unit manager took over, after I complained included 2 legitimate links and kept 4 previous bogus links and evaluated my claim. When I requested reference to 4 (bogus) links could not justify. Stopped calls and answering to my quires. Claim transferred to another adjuster who is sitting on my file from the last 13 days. Not responding to my calls or emails. Extremely bad service, no regard for customers, Belairdirect is the worst company when you need help.

I never have a single call with Belair Direct that ends with me being happy.
They increased my insurance this year by 40$ a month. With no accidents, no claims, no tickets on my record in the past 6 years and no incidents on my wife's as a secondary driver in the past 3 years. Their excuse is "rates go up." Rates aren't supposed to increase 40% with good history. They are supposed to decline with good history.
When we had a claim 3 years ago where my wife was involved in an accident where she rear-ended another driver who cut her off then fled the scene, she was deemed at fault and our vehicle, that we spent $8,000 on 3 months prior, had a $3000 repair bill, they wrote it off and gave us $4500. Deeming the vehicle that still had a black book value of 7k, only worth, 4500. Con artists.
Their app to track your driving is awful. You as a passenger sometimes get the choice to say you were a passenger, but it would often track driving I didn't do, and not even let me report passenger. And as a driver, your phone falling off the mount, or being used by the passenger, would screw up your tracking too.
If your automatic payment bounces because you don't have the money at that exact moment. The bank charged you a 30$ NSF fee, and Belair Charges you a 45$ NSF fee for no reason whatsoever. They admit the charges are automatic, so there is literally 0 time and effort they put into charging you, so their argument of having to pay for people's time to charge it again is redundant. It's just a scam charge. I knew I wasn't going to have enough money for this month's payment. My payment date is the 14th of every month. So I called today so I could pay with credit card. They said they already sent the payment to the bank, even though I am not supposed to pay until the 14th, and they can't do anything about it. But since I knew it was going to bounce, I could pay it now, and pay the 45$ fee on top of it. Even though I am offering to pay early. Biggest scam artists out there.
I have been trying to switch insurance companies for years but ever since my wife's accident, that wasn't her fault, but legally deemed as her fault. Every insurance company comes in 200% higher than Belair because we had first claim forgiveness on our account. So I can't justify switching companies, since all insurance companies in Ontario are a scam.
