Belair direct is a terrible insurance company who have no respect for their customers. I highly suggest going with another company if you want great service. The lack of communication they provide their clients with is extremely disappointing and unacceptable. Our vehicle was stolen on April 8, 2022. We heard from the insurance agent 3 times between April 8 2022-April 11 2022. After many emails, phone calls and voicemails we finally heard back from the agent on May 2 2022 almost four weeks after we started our claim. The lady submitted us with a disgusting offer that we did not accept. When we asked her where they had gotten their number from she provided us with three dealerships from the Toronto area. We did our homework and reached out to those dealers. To our surprise these dealers did not have our vehicle - make and model on their lot and haven't had them in months. When my husband spoke to the managers at these three dealerships they all laughed and said that the price that Belair direct had offered us was way too low. Belair is a fraudulent company who have absolutely no respect for their clients. It’s sickening to think that they actually use these tactics with their customers and that some people do not do their homework and follow up. Being with Belairdirect has caused us nothing but stress.
The company will take away discounts from existing clients and then offer to return them back but only if they agree to give up their privacy. They want access to your credit score plus they want to have your driving monitored via your cellphone. All of this is for their benefit but even after you're lulled into consenting they will bump your premiums back up under a myriad of excuses. Firstly, if they discover you operate your vehicle late at night it will increase your rate then suddenly your discounts again begin to disappear - round and round we go. Even your good credit score won't help. Their staff can't even tell you what score you'll need to qualify for a discount....because management won't tell them. So, when they ask you for consent they'll make it appear as though there's definitely a discount pending. You need to challenge them before consenting to anything - you'll then begin to realize that every sentence ought to come with a disclaimer. The company makes changes constantly and the service and products are constantly changing. I returned to my previous insurer because they are predictable. Products are always consistent. I don't want to deal with insurance more than once per year but with Belairdirect it's nonstop talking and having to read up on never-ending changes.
If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.
Claim 1/14/2022 started. The first contact went well. The car was drivable for 2 months. No return on questions/ email. Estimate wrong/incorrect/ and the games began. Finally took to the repair shop and repair was authorized after a body shop resubmitted the claim. The body shop also got me a rental. Picked up the car last week, the body works well enough but the shop warned of mechanical on the front end? Literally drove 5 kilometres before the strut collapsed. Close to home though - lucky. Shop says we only do body not mechanical not our problem. Calls to the adjuster were not returned, but regular customer service reopened the claim and now nothing. The information they have on file is partially correct but contacted the wrong shop on my claim?
Car sitting and what?
No one knows…
Belairdirect has double charged my bank account for the last 3 months and when I call they’re telling me I have missed a payment. That’s weird because I've paid them over $700 in the last 2 months.
Last month I called because a call representative Ariel was trying to tell me I owed $600 which didn’t sound right. I called a week later since she was not a nice lady and was told $600 was to cancel my contract and $400 was what I owed. So she tried to get me to buy out my contract and said it would pay my bill and Belair is a thieve!
They keep raising their prices each year with no claim on file, even if we lowered our coverage year after year. Less km, cars of lesser value and higher deductibles.
Their Android app is always down, the customer portal has also plenty of technical issues also down from time to time. It took them more than 2 weeks to provide a renewal offer for our house insurance while keeping the access to our file down the whole time.
Made one claim a while back, got refused for small details saying it wasn't covered (while friends with the same issue had it covered with other insurance companies and the same coverage options).
Premiums not up to par anymore, shop elsewhere.
Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.
I would email them constantly and they would not answer my emails so I’d end up spending 4 hours on hold on multiple occasions… this has been going on for months… then, they tried to scam me out of $2000 for my rental car by not informing me my rental coverage was up 3 weeks before I got a call, and not even from them it was my rental company that took the initiative to call me and if they didn’t they would have let me rack up the bill even more because I was told it was covered until my car was fixed and then They would not answer my emails about owing the money for about a month until I brought a lawyer into it and I had information that the customer needs to be notified for things like this then they instantly said they would cover the cost once I brought a lawyer into the conversation. People who aren’t lucky enough to have one would have paid the cost because when they did answer they kept trying to deflect and blame it on my mechanic. Horrible company and a horrible experience. I am still dealing with my claim issues this was back in December and I have already gotten my car back in February.
Belair Direct insurance don't count on this company resolving your insurance issues in any quick order. 6 weeks after my fiancé accident, with Belair finding her to be not at fault and still her car that was damaged by an unlicensed driver slamming into the back of her while she was stopped at a train crossing has not been fixed. 6 weeks of no income replacement. 6 weeks of ignored phone calls to Belair. 6 weeks of pain from neck and back damage resulting from this incident. 6 weeks the autobody shop who has the damaged car at their shop asked my fiancé if anyone has gotten back to her about where they go from here. The police officer who witnessed the incident from mere feet away that day checked in to see how things are going. 6 weeks of not having answers for the leaser of the vehicle hit, Toyota, that my fiancé was leasing. Their last call said they were 'baffled' as to why it was taking this long to resolve this. 6 weeks of pain, stress, anxiety, ignored phone calls to Belair, on an accident that most other reputable insurance companies would have resolved weeks ago! Case in point; the lady & car that was in front of my fiancé that was struck when she was slammed forward by this unlicensed driver has had her car fixed, her medical issues being cared for, and she couldn't believe that my fiancé, who took the blunt force of this accident, has yet to be made whole. Belair, the question for you and your slow-moving company. When do you feel you will be wrapping this claim up? Or is your goal to ignore your client, as you have been doing, or look for a way to escape your obligations as the insurer in this claim? Seriously, no more Belair Direct, actually contact your client now, who has ALWAYS paid your premiums AND RESOLVE THIS NOW. WORST INSURANCE COMPANY EVER. :(
No one responds, either by email or phone. I have waited over two hours to talk with someone but no answer. Emails are not responded to. Take your business elsewhere where real people deal with you.
I submitted a claim to repair a slight fender bender with my car.
This was easy to do online.
And Belair responded quickly.
But to activate the repair process, Belair insisted that my vehicle must be purged of license plates and any personal possessions.
The agent that I waited 2 hours to speak to had not taken 1 minute to read the police report which suggested that the damages were restricted to a cracked fender which might cost $2500 to repair.
The agent, without looking at a single photo, kept telling me that the car was a "write off" and she was insistent that the car should be towed at their expense to their own graveyard facility and written off.
Doubtless, she has never heard of the felonious nature of "bad faith" laws.
I will keep this notification anonymous until Belair has written off this vehicle and then I will pay for the trivial repairs and launch my legal action.
I waited two hours to speak to their Bolivian call center before I got through. These are two hours of my life which I will never get back!
The Belair agent kept filling me with doom and gloom.
The entire experience was a nightmare.
I dread the worst in their final report.
Any car can be repaired!
That is the reason we buy insurance.
The overestimation of repair costs in Belair's ceaseless quest to write vehicles off will likely land this agent with a $100,000 fine...
Avoid this corrupt enterprise at all costs!
A single scratch on your Mercedes will cost you the entire value of the car.
That assumes you have the patience to wait 2 hours to speak to the part-time casual staff in their Bolivian call center.
In times of crisis, we count on insurers to diminish anxiety not to manufacture it.
We received a quote and it increased once we were on the phone with them so we said no! The agent said she will hold the account and call us the next day, when she called we said no. The next week they withdrew the month's fees. When I called and stated they took the money they said it takes 2 weeks to return, even though we do not have an account with them, thieves at best!!!
