Stay away, far far away from RBC / Aviva.
After being charged a $50 late fee after a credit card change and after paying a day early, they wanted 10-days notice? After four days, numerous 4-hour phone delays, and up to four levels they finally cancelled it. One simple call should have sorted it out?
Now, a letter from RBC as my (50 years) roof 20 years old it must be replaced?? Had roofing company inspect it, shingles on the back different quality and due for replacement but front 50 year is ok.
Talk to Bryan at RBC. He and the adjuster agreed after the Roofing company inspected, that front did not have to be done. Great had the 80% back replaced. Called to have the policy updated, second guy says NO, need all roof?
Two weeks later, more people and managers were involved. Told I have to bring the roofers back, another $8000 to do the rest??
Called a local broker, and they found the company to insure, the roof ok, their price was $600 less than RBC.
Stay away, RBC / Aviva is nothing but hassle.
Cannot log in to view the document. Call center hours are terrible and when they are open the wait times are hours long. No option for email communication either. Completely dissatisfied do not recommend and likely won't use any other RBC product. Increased my condo insurance rate by 50$ every year with no claims and prompt payments.
The waiting time to speak to an insurance advisor at RBC Aviva is more than 2.5 hours and they are saying to save more money by buying RBC insurance :) Can you please save my time, my time as a customer has value!
Note to RBC, if you are going to make people wait for 2 hours on hold please don't try to sell us more stuff or hire more staff...
The wait times are in around 2 hours. And then the phone gets disconnected and the wait times are again 2 hours. It is as if the consumer has no other work than to waste 4 hours connecting to an agent. And then too not much is accomplished.
My RBC credit card was cloned and cancelled, so payment to RBC insurance didn't go through. Their response was to cancel my policy because I didn't call RBC insurance to tell them my new RBC credit card. After hours of pleading, they reinstated my policy with the stipulation I pay the full amount upfront. Thousands of dollars later the policy is back in force and upon receiving a renewal letter, I can go back to monthly payments.
I didn't receive any renewal letter and they tried to take out a significantly higher payment than I authorized. It didn't go through so they cancelled my policy and refuse to reinstate it. How do you pay a bill that you didn't get!? Because my policy was cancelled, other insurers are not willing to insure me.
I'm on hold trying to speak with someone and am literally told it'll be 2+ hours on hold before I can speak with someone, while my policy expires in two days.
I want to give this company negative stars. DO NOT DO ANY BUSINESS WITH THEM!!!
Please be aware. RBC cancelled my home insurance without informing me that they cancelled it - no reason was given. Basically, RBC representatives take your money for a couple of months and cancel the account. Beware of false and misleading information. The representatives are unprofessional and have no proper training.
The worst experience I have ever had dealing with a service provider of any sort. Cheaper rates, but you get what you pay for. They need to hire qualified people, assuming most calls are liaising through an overseas call center. It took 3 times before they got my name corrected on my policy - language barrier a probability on their end - policy had to be reissued each time. Then when I canceled I was sent a letter claiming I had outstanding balances and threatened to send to collections; the person I dealt with to cancel told me they would charge my credit card same as I had been doing for 3 years. I received no notice for payment, no communication, until a threatening letter. Top all this off with the ridiculous phone wait times. Be prepared to wait 1-2 hours or longer, even if the estimate tells you 15 minutes. Just awful, many options out there for insurance coverage, this outsourced excuse for a company is not one of them. Thankfully I didn't have to put in a claim.
I tried to sign up for RBC insurance in advance of the closing date on our new home. Filled out the online application only to be told 'something went wrong" and I had to call them. I spoke to someone whose English was poor and was difficult to understand. He asked a number of questions and then the call was lost. He never called back. So, in a moment of poor thinking, I tried again and this time got a more helpful person who spent AN HOUR with us getting all the information. The system was terribly slow and to top it all off, at the end of it all we were REJECTED because the PROPERTY WAS TOO BIG! WHY DID WE HAVE TO WADE THROUGH AN HOUR OF QUESTIONING WHEN THE PROPERTY SIZE WAS ADDRESSED RIGHT IN THE BEGINNING? The program should have flagged this straight away so we didn't have to waste an hour of our lives. We could have been on the phone with someone else. For this reason, I would never recommend RBC Insurance to anyone. Come on RBC, you're better than that.
Canadians pay, on average, approximately $20 per month in tenants insurance. Do you rent or plan to rent a property and want to reduce insurance costs? We will help you get a cheap tenant insurance quote today.
I lost my credit card and forgot to change the pre-pay. They charge me $50 for that without any notice. Customer service was so rude and don't let me cancel.
My family and I have been long-time RBC customers till now. We had 1 claim in 2020 because of a massive flood due to a faulty dishwasher. From the moment of the call to RBC, it was nothing but problems. We were out of the house for the repairs to be done from the beginning of June 2020 - December 24th, 2020. First of all, we went with their approved vendors which would show up for a couple of days and then you wouldn't see or hear from them for another 3-5 days and sometimes not there for a week or more, it took them almost 6 months to replace to floors and cedar ceiling on the lower floor. While being out of the house RBC had a hard time finding us accommodations leaving us to find our own. We would get 1 night here, 1 night there a couple of trailers on our property to stay in for a week and then it had to go back because it was booked previously for that date and they would have another one brought. This situation was horrible especially having to move a whole family, (3 little kids) daily and weekly. It was not till November when they did find us a house to stay in for the month and when December came we had to move out to another house till Christmas evening, really!!! Absolute garbage!!! The 2nd time was because of a copper water line that had a leak in a part of our house we don't use much we called them and explained the situation and decided not to go with the repair and do it ourselves BUT because of the call, it was deemed the 2nd claim that they will not be renewing our home insurance. This is wrong on so many levels and I would not recommend RBC/AVIVA !!!!!! They want your monthly insurance money but as soon as you need it for something that is not your fault they deem it your fault and cancel!!!
