Same as others in this forum, we are long-time TD customers and every year there are price increases, however, this year it is more than substantial at 34%. The sole excuse from TD is that replacement costs are up, so they just chose to increase the coverage on our policy. We are totally over-ensured at this amount and certainly do not require or want the additional amount. I also called and spoke with an actual person who again said the same thing. Forcing customers to over-insure is price gouging, plain and simple! This must be some form of loophole they are using to justify huge premium increases.
It turns out that, by default, their policy does not cover water leak damage for an unoccupied condo unit (note: the leak was caused by another unit). Then what am I getting insurance for..?!
Never use TD insurance as it is there to collect premiums only and god forbid if you have a claim they will rip you off by working with contractors who report only what TD wants them to report. I have been a customer of TD insurance for more than 15 years. Experienced a sewage backup that has destroyed a portion of my beautifully done basement. The sewage backup occurred twice due to a city pipe egging. To my horror, the TD representative was not only very difficult to work with but blatantly ignored facts to connive with the TD contracting agency (Integricon) and make a decision to not cover just expenses. I highly suggest customers not consider TD insurance as if you get a claim you are in a lot of trouble with representatives like mine who are out there to minimize expenses for TD despite legitimate customer losses you will be left to pay large amounts from your pocket.
Had to make a claim due to a loss assessment at my condo less than a month after moving in. When I purchased my insurance I specifically noted I wanted protection from my condo board's reserve fund in case of any type of emergency. Was assured I would be covered.
When I did make the claim, feeling good about myself for opting for the more expensive coverage and peace of mind - was told flat out that because it's a maintenance issue, it will not be covered. Even though it's a safety hazard... even though it's a common element... even though I specifically asked to be protected from this situation.
The person "helping" me, did nothing.
Awful company, awful bank, terrible services, and bad customer service.
I had a minor claim and my TD insurance went up over $500.00 a year and has kept going up significantly. I even changed my deductible and a few other things to keep the rates as low as I can but continued to pay over $2000.00 a year.
Then I had a break-in and couldn't even do a claim. My $3000.00 bike was stolen and TD only covers $500.00 for your bike maximum no matter what it is worth. So we didn't even do the claim.
I called them at the end of September to explain we would need less than 2 months' coverage. So after the 2 months, I see a final payment of $199.15. I call and it cannot be changed or reversed and is the cancellation fee...
BE AWARE! If you live in a mobile home. To be covered by insurance you have to climb under your home EVERY DAY because if you don’t catch a leak within 24-48 hours they WILL NOT cover you!!!
I just received my home insurance policy from TD and found it's incorrect and different from what I was told on the phone with the TD insurance service line. So I tried to call - a few times so far, each time I waited for about 1 hour and no one has answered my phone.
This company is terrible. I had a claim and they took two months to get it fixed when my neighbour`s insurance had it fixed in a week. They always take the maximum amount of time to get the paperwork processed... When they say no more than 10 business days you can be sure they will get back to you at 5 pm on the 10th business day. The adjuster was confusing and did not take ownership - I always had to follow up with him and he would sometimes take over a week to email me back. The wait time to talk to these people on the phone has always been 40 minutes or more - no matter what time of the day. They also try their very best to not follow through on the claim and will leave you having to pay for things you thought for sure would be covered. I have tried to call them 4 times to cancel my insurance and have waited over 2 hours on the phone... Stay far away from TD.
Canadians pay, on average, approximately $20 per month in tenants insurance. Do you rent or plan to rent a property and want to reduce insurance costs? We will help you get a cheap tenant insurance quote today.
On 13th June 2020, my SUV and two houses were damaged and it been two months and I am nowhere yet. I probably spent over 60 hours on calls with them and the adjusters won't even answer or call back, also they will not reply to the emails. Finally, they are paying for one of my houses and the payment amount is 50% which actually will cost me to fix the house. I WILL NOT RECOMMEND TD insurance at all. Find a better company!
I chose a $20,000 deductible (I am only concerned about major loss) and the premium was very good. Unfortunately, I HAD to also buy “water damage” insurance and the coverage limit is $25,000. With my $20,000 deductible, there is very little coverage for me…. I wanted to opt out of water damage, but TD insurance wouldn't let me. The water damage insurance is 12.4% of my premium, and it is wasted money in my opinion.
