Ice damage

by Denrepair on Apr 9, 2018
5 out of 5 stars

Belair Direct were very professional, helpful and have excellent contractors doing the work. They took a lot of the stress out of the process by keeping us up to date on when each contractor would arrive to do their specific job. All contractors were highly skilled and did an excellent job you would never know there was any damage to the room.

Premium doubled

by Buttergon on Feb 9, 2018
1.5 out of 5 stars

I paid for my policy up front and wasn't notified of pending renewal (due in six days). When I looked it up, I was shocked to see that my premium had doubled, without explanation–even though I had made no claims, and absolutely nothing had changed in either my circumstances or policy. Customer service was unable to explain the untoward increase. So I called around, and obtained exactly the same coverage, with exactly the same deductibles, for less than my original premium. Happy to report that I saved over $300.

Anti-Bélair Direct!

by Anti-BélairDirect on Feb 2, 2018
1 out of 5 stars

Break and Enter Claim

by Don’t Choose Bel-Air Direct on Dec 7, 2017
1 out of 5 stars

I submitted a claim request for a break and enter of my home. Bel-Air Direct took my information about the incident and asked if Anyone was hurt. I said no, the agent proceeded to take my information from me. I’ve been waiting almost a month , and still no payment has been issued or sent to me yet. It’s bad enough to be a victim of crime, but to be waiting a month without any compensation is unacceptable. They have no problem going into your bank account and take their payment.

Disaster of a company

by TW on Oct 25, 2017
1 out of 5 stars

Just got my home insurance renewal...for no reason a 100% INCREASE monthly. That's right. My home insurance premiums are DOUBLING. Despite the lowest crime rate of any neighbourhood in the city, my premium has gone up. Best part? They refuse to talk to me about it.

Now lets move on to my auto insurance. NEVER had an at fault accident, one that ended up being 50/50 for some reason, despite the fact I was stopped and stationary while someone ran smack into my car...those rates increased 50$ per month!!!!!!

Government needs to begin regulating this garbage. Insurance companies are NOTHING but legal rackets.

Bad customer service

by Mitul on Aug 22, 2017

I was able to connect with Belairdirect easily.

But when I asked them to cancel my home insurance, they renewed it and charged $17 after that to cancel the policy.

Very bad service and they are saying they don't find any notes that I requested to cancel my home insurance.

Couldn't Do Worse!

by Mr. Destiny on Jul 20, 2017
1.5 out of 5 stars

This company, Belair Direct, is a huge rip-off. Their rates are about 25% higher than other companies even with their so-called discount for home and auto insurance bundled together!

Worse, when I told them I didn't want to renew my residential policy after it elapsed they charged me more than $50.00 for an administrative fee to "cancel" a policy that had already run out. That was more than 10% of the cost of the policy. Now you'd think, well why bother cancelling it. Because if I didn't and they cancelled it from their side I would never be able to purchase home insurance from anyone else because other companies can't sell it to you if any other company has canceled your policy previously!!

And then I had to wait for almost an hour while the agent processed my non renewal on her computer that kept freezing! So add in an hour of my time and what I might have earned or done with it.

Don't be fooled by the people you talk to in customer service; they are actually pretty helpful and diligent, but the fees and policies of this corporate thief will fleece you.

I doubt you could find a worse experience with any other insurance agency.

And that's just trying to cancel a policy that had already expired a week earlier. I can't imagine how these weasels would behave if I'd actually had a claim!!!

Worst service ever.

I called for a claim in Feb 2016 because I had a few spots in the ceiling of my basement and an adjuster came to see in early March 2016. She told me that it was hard to see where the water was coming from and that there was no damage to my house. She did say that the water was probably due to the ice on the roof and that she was going to send a contractor to verify this. I received a call from a contractor in the end of August 2017 to verify the damages so I refused because it was tool late and I never put in a claim.
Now I get my insurance renewal and am hit with a $5000 deduction because it says in my file that I refused to repair a leaky roof.
I am presently shopping around for a new insurance company.

Premium Increase 30.2%

by canada on Apr 18, 2017
1 out of 5 stars

Belairderect is really bad.
My building value just increases 5.8%, but Belairdirect increases my premium 30.2%. The customer service is don't give you reason for why the premium increase so much. The attitude of the representative is rude. They don't care if you stay with them or not, they just want to steal your money.
