I had my basement and have a claim and it needed to be gutted and they kept having miscommunications when they accidentally forgot to tear up a floor when they accidentally forgot to tear up the bathroom when they accidentally forgot to tear up the cupboards when they accidentally forgot to do a number of other small things and it was always excused after excuse and my basement has sat torn apart going on for five months now and they have not moved or done anything about it and nobody is getting back to me …
First, after being a long-term customer of BCAA, my home in Princeton was flooded. Thus, I called the company about all the issues, and of course, my claim was Denied! Then, to add insult to injury, they sent a renewal letter, as if I am going to Trust them again after being left in the literal cold. Finally, I see a TV ad by this corporation asking for money from Others, except them to aid flood victims. It is a ruse! Therefore, they need to step up and take care of their clients instead of pleading help from people who didn't pay the increasing rates for what should be BCAA's responsibility.
I have been a BCAA member for seven years and decided a few years back to use them for my home insurance. That was a mistake.
BCAA are easy to deal with until you need to make a claim at which point they send you down a rabbit hole. You are left to deal with a dreadful organization named ClaimsPro whose only incentive is to minimize the claim and maximize their own commission.
As soon as a claim is smitten BCAA NO LONGER WANTS TO KNOW YOU.
My policy expires next year, I WILL NOT BE RENEWING.
If your insurer uses ClaimsPro and does not have its own adjusters I suggest taking your business elsewhere.
When I first signed up they did not mention anything about a cancellation fee, none of the documents I signed mentioned a cancellation fee either. I'm going through the emails they sent me and there is nothing in there. I'm going to dispute this con with my credit card. Also, they have long wait times on their phone lines.
BCAA home insurance division recommended FirstOnSite for our restoration. Our job was small and in the end a claimed was not made on our insurance. But, BCAA home insurance division was in communication with me about our claim for updates as restoration was happening. Whatever you do DO NOT USE FirstOnSite. I would NOT recommend this company. I also contacted BCAA with feedback about my disappointment with FirstOnSite . Angel seemed very concerned about my complaint and asked me to let her know about the outcome as she had other complaints about the company but, again when I followed up with her she did not respond to my 2 emails. So, I have no faith in BCAA and their quality of service to their customers as well.
We have been with BCAA for over 25 years and were shocked at the number of mistakes in our policy declaration when we last renewed. Items that had been removed in previous years mysteriously reappeared (sometimes from 4 years ago) and much of the information was just plain wrong. At one point we thought they were looking at someone else's policy. It was very unsettling when we looked in detail at the info they had for our house. Thankfully we have never had to make a claim. The other troubling thing is the soft credit check that is now mandatory with the excuse that it can save us money. No one has been able to explain to me exactly how that works. I believe they are just selling our data somewhere. They only seem interested in selling you insurance on as many different items as possible. I would never recommend this company to anyone.
Terrible service for Home Insurance. Moved and phoned to change my address, because there is no option to update a policy online. Was put on hold due to "high call volume" and requested a call-back... twice. Never received one. Also submitted an online request form and was told to call (again) or visit the nearest BCAA office (Cambie). Visited the Cambie location and waited 20 minutes only to find out they require a certificate from the city for my (rental) building regarding electrical or they would not provide coverage. Instead of spending more time trying to track down info and follow up with BCAA representatives, I cancelled my policy... and was charged a $30 cancellation fee. Do not buy home insurance here!
I have been a BCAA member for 45 years. With all the premiums, house, auto and membership, I think I have already paid for my own claim. During a winter ice storm about a year and a half ago, a large tree fell over our pool maintenance house and into the pool. Due to cold and snow, I had no idea what equipment etc, was damaged and the pool house was flat. They recommended a contractor. I'm 72 now, my husband was dying at the time, so I thought they knew the best. Turns out about 8 months later that it was more than obvious these guys had never dealt with pools before. What a waste of time and money. By the way, no adjuster ever showed up to review the damage. So, by the Spring of this year, I had a new, relatively local contractor who was fabulous! Done and done. The big problem is that neither he nor I could ever reach the adjuster. No calls back etc. This contractor knew exactly what he was doing and did it. There turned out to be an additional 2700. Due to unseen damage, the pool was still looking like a frog pond. After 2 months since completion, he has not been paid the balance and as usual, neither he nor I can reach the claims person. This is just a brief overview as you have no idea of the horror I went through with their recommended contractor while trying to be in the hospital every day for my husband, who eventually passed last September. As I say, I've more than paid my own claim. What do I do now?
Please don't use BCAA for you insurance needs. You can never quit your policy. It's a nightmare process. They will charge you 10% of your total yearly insurance as a cancellation fee. I never had a claim and was a full paying customer for 7 years! Ouch
I am a former loyal customer. I have never filed a claim. As a service industry, BCAA is supposed to serve the customer. Their best interest lies in profit and liability. I decided to rebuild my house on my existing property. BCAA harassed me dozens of times to get dates when this will happen. The City of Vancouver does not provide any definite dates. So BCAA went ahead and changed my policy without my authorization. If they have the right to change my policy, I should have the right to cancel. BCAA does not care about the customer's well-being. They care about their liability and profitability.
